Golden Stone has a country look and feel. Enjoy the sounds of Rock Creek and the view of the beautiful valley and the Welcome Creek Wilderness. Just a short walk to the creek, return after fishing and spend time relaxing on the covered farmer’s porch. Deer and big horn sheep are often in view. Bring the whole family or a group of friends, with four bedrooms there is room for all in 1700 sq ft. and 1.25 acres. The second floor has two bedrooms, one with a queen, the other with two twins and a large bathroom with shower. On the main floor there is also a full bath and two bedrooms, one with a single queen and the other with a queen and a full. The spacious kitchen has a bar counter, full sized refrigerator and range along with many small appliances. The living room features a cozy gas fireplace.
Follow the path to the Sawmill Creek Fishing Access, just a short stroll. From there, access beautiful runs, pools, and riffles on the Blue Ribbon Trout Stream, Rock Creek. Return to the cabin after fishing or hiking to the comfortable covered porch or enjoy a campfire in the fire pit on the back lawn. Or play horseshoes, whiffle ball or bocce on the spacious lawn.
Winter is a magical time on Rock Creek. Clear blue skies (no inversions), frosted trees and winter snow set the stage for cross country skiing or snowshoeing along the river. Return to the cabin and warm up by the cozy fire. The cabin is accessible year round. Located on a county road off the maintained portion of Rock Creek Road, the driveway is plowed (if necessary) all winter long.
Visit a student at the University of Montana and have family time in our cozy cabin instead of the city of Missoula! Or take is a game at the University and return to the cabin for a very comfortable getaway...

About Lisa and Tim Savard
For 22 years, we owned the Cabins at Lopstick in Pittsburg, NH. Hosting guests from all over the world who traveled to northern New Hampshire to fishing, vacation, snowmobile and and hunt. In 2008, we bought a little cabin on Rock Creek. We rented it out until 2013 when we sold Lopstick and moved permanently to Montana to fish, hike and hunt Montana. Of all the places we've fished in the American West, we chose Rock Creek as our home.
Lisa and Tim Savard purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Lisa and Tim Savard chose Clinton
In 2014 when the opportunity arose to purchase the property that we share a driveway with, we made the decision to go back into the cabin rental business and share once again, this incredible area of Montana.
What makes this Cabin unique

Doesn’t get much better
Beautiful area and cabin! Very well appointed! Lisa was wonderful to work with..we’ll be back for sure!
overall the cabin was amazing. A little smaller than I pictured it on line.
We choose this property for our annual family Christmas gathering, we had family from Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, Montana and North Carolina and we couldn't have asked for a more amazing setting. The cabin was warm and cozy just what we were looking for. We took advantage of many outdoor activities hiking many trails. I am very grateful for the opportunity to stay at this wonderful home. We will definitely recommend this home to friends and family. Looking forward to our next get away.
Thank you Helen
Beautiful house and location!!
We had the absolute best weekend at this lovely house! The house itself was cozy, but spacious and the views out there were just amazing! We thought many times over the weekend how we'd love to just move there forever! :)
This was our 2nd time staying here, and we booked for next year before we left. The Rock Creek Valley is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places in Montana, and the Golden Stone is the perfect place to enjoy it. Fishing, hiking, relaxing...... the cabin is well equipped - just bring food, everything else is provided. We were cozy warm and comfortable. Lisa and Tim are great hosts and available if anything is needed. Can’t wait to come back.
Excellent stay near the river.
The cabin is exactly as promised, with easy access to the river for fishing. The owners are great and accessible nearby. An added bonus is that the kitchen is fully furnished, the best I have ever seen with a rental unit.
Nothing could be better.
Tim & Lisa are great hosts & the cabin is fantastic. The only thing you'll need to bring is food as the cabin has anything else you'd want from plastic wrap to a corkscrew to spare batteries. This is an A+ experience.
Thank you for the nice review! Glad you had a wonderful time, hope to see you again! - Lisa
Missoula, Montana is a short 30 minute drive. There you will find two hospitals, a vibrant downtown with shops and restaurants, the University of Montana and farmer's markets, festivals and events every weekend in the riverfront, Caras Park. Minor league baseball, artist events and music events occur late spring though fall.
