We have lived in Newbury for over 20 years and built this property as a family affair with our extended family in Southern New Hampshire and Connecticut. We have raised our family here and it has become a favorite vacation destination for our friends and family.
This property offers a prime location for access to all that the Sunapee area has to offer. The house is in a quiet secluded wooded area yet minutes from Sunapee State Park, area restaurants, and other local attractions.
Privacy with great outdoor space to enjoy summary evenings by the field stone fireplace. The house has no direct access to Lake Sunapee but there are local beaches nearby. There is also terrific fishing at Otter Pond, Warner River, and Sugar River, all nearby. Hiking up Mount Sunapee to Lake Solitude is a moderately challenging hike and with beautiful views of Lake Sunapee and beyond.
My daughter, son in law and three grand daughters joined me and my partner for thanksgiving eve and Thanksgiving night. Michele's home is lovely, warm and immaculate. The fireplace and grounds are both inviting. I hope to be able to go back in the spring or summer and for thanksgiving eve and night again.
Loved staying here! It was a quick trip to Mt. Sunapee where our son was married. The vrbo advertisement does not do it justice. The pictures fail to show just how beautiful this space is! Roomy dining room and lots of gathering space for socializing and games. Loved all the premium outdoor living as well.
We needed a place for 10 of us to stay for our son's wedding at Colby Sawyer College. This house fit the bill perfectly! It's beautiful, very spacious, and clean! Having 3 full baths, one on each floor, allowed the family and the groomsmen plenty of options when getting ready for the wedding. Michele was very accommodating and easy to work with. The bonus for us was the outdoor space....perfect for holding the rehearsal dinner/bbq for 30 people. Thank you, Michele! We loved it as did all of our guests!!
Just walking into the Tahoe House took our breath away! It is absolutely lovely and the Luceys have spared no expense ~ the house itself, with all the natural wood and 3-story stone fireplace is gorgeous! The furnishings were just right for a lake house ~ from the woodsy decor to the well-stocked kitchen and roomy bathrooms. Having bedrooms and a bath on every level of the house, our family could spread out without crowding anyone, and every single one of us (12 at our highest point), from 22 months to 88 years, slept quite comfortably ~ with no one on the floor! The family dining area was perfect ~ enough room at the table for all! We even hosted a larger family gathering one night, with 30+, and there was plenty of space to visit, inside and out on deck and patio, for kids to play in the yard (water balloons and running games), and for Great Grand Papa to gather all in the great room for story-telling!
The house was immaculate and yard well-maintained. The outdoor patio, with swing, tables, chairs, grill, and stone fireplace were wonderful and ready to use right away! Even the firepit was all laid and just needed lighting! When we found a loose doorknob, our owner was there in a flash to check it out and repair! She had been a joy to book with before we got there, and has continued with follow-up post-visit. Not only do we hope to book there again in the future, but have already recommended the Tahoe House to other friends and family.
Local activities were perfect. Our family's crest should have ice cream on it, since we all (extended family) met up after dinner at Bubba's in Newbury Harbor, which is just a 4-minute drive south; Quack Shack (OMG: Maine Deer Tracks!) around the lake; and Sanctuary Farms, just down the road about 8 minutes . . . to name a few. Hannaford's grocers in Newport, was wicked easy to get to!! Hanging at the tiny beach at Blodgett's Landing, was just right for our littles, as we could take turns kayaking and sailing from the same spot, while kids swam, tubed and played together. Added bonuses were the evening band concerts in neighboring towns and fireworks over the harbor ~ awesome! Sunapee sunsets, by the way, were truly breath-taking! We hope to return in the winter to take advantage of Mt. Sunapee ~ it is SO CLOSE!!
Thank you for the opportunity to make family memories for a lifetime, in a house that is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
We were in town for our neices wedding at pats peak. The house was perfect location. It was clean, private and over all beautiful. Michele was easy to work with. She answered all our questions, and had the house in perfect condition for our stay. Definitely will keep this place in mind for a longer vacation.
I stayed here for two nights with 8 friends at the beginning of April. The house was perfect! great indoor space if the weather isn't perfect and an even better outdoor space when it is! The fire pit and out door fireplace make for the perfect spot to relax for the night. The house was in perfect condition with plenty of sleeping space. The owners are very responsive and answer all your questions in a very timely fashion. I would absolutely recommend this property for a getaway with your friends or family!
