Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We needed a place to stay during a family reunion that was held in Three Rivers. My niece recommended Maile's Cottage to us as the best rental in town so we took her advice. Couldn't have been more pleased! Some commented that the beds were so comfy they had never slept better. Many different seating areas for visiting and eating. We used them all during the 3 days we stayed! The owner was so easy to work with and very attentive to our needs. The cottage is a short drive from the entrance to Sequoia National Park where the giant redwoods grow. Thank you, Robin, for making this cottage available for us to enjoy. We will be back!

The house was nice and at first we were happy with it and the person we were working with, but

  • 2 of 5

I rented this house because it advertises "sleeps 10". We were coming up for our son's wedding and I wasn't sure what the circumstances were going to be. I originally told her 5 people would be staying. There is very little parking and when our grown kids started showing up to MEET there - not stay, one of them parked across the street at public parking stall. They were there not more than 15 minutes and I received a call that the businesses were complaining about us parking there. I asked if we could park in the area clearly marked "No parking" directly in front of our house. Ends up it was our parking spaces, but she then questioned and requestioned me in stupid e-mails, about how many people were staying there. We had at the last minute brought our 18 year old granddaughter with us. I told her we had 6 staying and she continued to basically call me a liar and tell me we shouldn't need more parking space. We were on our way to rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. After this incident I was paranoid to have anyone come by and visit. I paid the extra $50 something dollars for my granddaughter. I wanted to make breakfast and had planned that the groomsmen would take pics there - I will NEVER use this service again.

Owner's Response: Susan, I am very sorry that you got so upset with the parking situation. I would not have said anything if I hadn't received a complaint. I've never received a complaint about my guests at Maile's Cottage, so I did respond promptly and I apologize if you felt I was interrogating you. On my behalf, I would like to say that the listing states that it will sleep 8, not 10 people. Your Rental Agreement states that you will notify me if you end up with more than the number of people initially disclosed so that I can send a payment request for them. Lastly, your "Welcome" letter says that you can park both at the top of the driveway and also in front of the house. Those "No Parking" signs are for the general public and to protect your privacy and quiet. Maile's Cottage is a cozy, vintage home and not meant for big crowds. As manager, it is my obligation to maintain the integrity of this special place and I am sorry if I stepped on toes...that is not my style or intention. ~Robin~

A calm oasis!!!

  • 5 of 5

Robin's cottage is a gem! After spending all day in the parks we would return to the cottage, pour a glass of wine and relax under the canopy in the lovely backyard. The beds were superb, the homemade bread and fresh coffee beans and the calming decor added up to a great visit. The only negative was our experience dining out - nothing to do with the cottage!! This was countered by a great kitchen, dish washer, and outdoor grill. Thanks for all the extra touches, Robin - would love to come back!!!

Great house! Well equipped and charming. Wish we had stayed longer but we had many other places to visit in our 15 day trip to California.

Great gateway to Sequoia National Park

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Robin for all your hospitality for our stay in your amazing cottage. We had all our home comforts catered for in between our visits and walks in Sequoia National Park which must be THE most stunning Park in all of the USA.

Would recommend any of the shops and facilities in Three Rivers and Visallia only a short drive away too for dinner etc.

Thanks again. Mark and family
