Great place!!!
The place was perfect!!!!! Very clean and all the amenities that you need! I feel privileged having stayed in a place like this. I caught 25 Northern Pike trolling on the SW side of the lake using a black spinner bait. Special thanks to George & Rocky who were great chatting to and very knowledgeable. Thanks Tim!!!!!

We love the Marcell Lodge
We had a wonderful stay at the Marcell Lodge! The lodge itself is historic, but wonderfully updated with many modern touches. The kitchen was great & fully stocked, and there were plenty of beds to spread out. The grounds are kept wonderfully manicured & the overall service from Tim & the team was exceptional (checking on us daily for fire wood & boat gas refills, handling quickly a couple small issues we had, etc.). Marcell itself is small, but the Pine Cone Cafe & Timberwolf Inn were both great places to grab a bite, and the Frontier Sports store offers just about everything (gas, bait, groceries, beer, ice cream, souvenirs, etc.). For more options, Bigfork is only about 10 mins north. Tons of great trails & lakes in the area. All in all 5/5 stars & we can't wait to come back!

Amazing!
The cabin was beautiful! So clean and well taken care of. We slept the best we had in years probably because it was so quiet, cool and dark! Everything was ready for us from the boat with fuel, to the fire pit and wood supply to the nicely stocked kitchen! Best vacation ever!

Classic Lake Time
The Lodge was lovely and spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed. We especially loved the use of the boat, kayaks, and paddleboards. Of course, it is remote, which for my family was the point, so get your provisions before you head to the Lodge. The Discovery Center staff was helpful as we planned activities like a hike to the Lost Forty. Overall, it was a wonderful and we hope to rent it again someday.

Best rental!
This cabin is an absolute treasure! We enjoyed the secluded feel while still close to everything you need. We greatly enjoyed using the kayaks and paddleboards and our kids love swimming in the sand area. The water is so clear we could actually see the fish wr were catching and was so warm and inviting to swim in. The cabin itself is amazing. The beds are comfortable and it has a very homey feel. The kitchen is also fully stock with everything you need and has more than enough room for family and friends to enjoy the great outdoors. We will be back to stay here again!

Nice getaway
Everything went smoothly. The lodge and lake setting were fantastic. Very glad to see a lake with little development and most shore land owners only had lightly developed shorelines (I.e., they didn’t rip out all the vegetation and put in big sterile sand beaches with no fish habitat). That sad fishing was so-so, but obviously not the lodge owners fault. Largemouth bass and bluegill were abundant and easily caught. Wish we would have had more time to chase after the crappie. The boat, motor, kayaks, paddle boards and canoe were a big hit for my family. I wanted to do a little more hiking and biking, but the kids loved just relaxing in the water and paddling around. My 5 year old grandson loved the small beach and shallow water. He played almost continuously there. Great fun every day we stayed.

Rustic Retreat
If you need some peace and quiet- this is the place! We were thrilled to be able to stay in this historic cabin/lodge from 1934 and yet- have modern conveniences. We only left the premises once to hike. We had a great time with the grandkids. So many activities to keep them busy. We escaped the 90+ temperature from the Twin Cities. Each day it was between 70-80’s. Bring a light jacket!

Super peaceful.....
Really liked our stay! The mosquitoes were INSANE!!! but that's not the cabins fault... bring your spray and itch cream! All the full size beds were comfy, but all the twins were pretty uncomfortable that's was the only thing. Luckily our group was small, so the 2 kids shared a full bed because one of them didn't want to sleep in the twin again. That was the only thing... everything else was wonderful!

A great Lodge
It was a lovely holiday getaway! The historic lodge has been restored with modern features, the kitchen was great, lake views were amazing. We even took time to do some research on the CCC Lodge. It will be on my shortlist to book in the future.

Exceptional Up North Experience
This is our first time staying at the Marcell Lodge and it will not be our last. We booked the Lodge needing to get out of the Twin Cities for a few days and stayed for a week. We were greeted by Brock at the Edge of the Wilderness Discovery Center. Brock was gracious enough to provide us with some pancake mix and talked us through the many things to do in the area. Check in was simple and Brock was an excellent resource. The Lodge itself is historic and is a true log cabin. It reminded us of a Lincoln log cabin. While the cabin comfortably sleeps 8, there are beds for 12, along with a futon and very comfortable couch. The full kitchen made it very easy to stay without needing to leave for meals and the washer and dryer meant we didn't need to pack a ton of clothes. The Town of Marcell has a convenience store with an excellent bait shop and carries most groceries you don't pack. We visited the Pinecone Cafe for ice cream and had a Friday night Bluegill sandwich at the Timberwolf Inn just up the road. Back at the Lodge, there's plenty of room to bring bean bags or other yard games. Of added benefit is the fishing boat with outboard motor, kayak, canoe and stand up paddle boards. While the entry is shallow into the lake and not great for fishing (other than little blue gills and perch), we got great use of the fishing boat. Ranier Lake is the perfect size for trolling and you'll find pike and bass on both the east and west shores of the lake. We didn't encounter any large waves on the lake and the boat was perfect for tolling. There are only a few homes on the lake and no public access so the lake is very quite making for a wonderful early morning or late afternoon paddle. There is also much loon activity and if you enjoy the songs of the loon, you'll love this area. On Brock's recommendation, we took an afternoon trip to the Lost Forty which is about a half hour drive from the Lodge. The Lost Forty consists of old growth white and red pines which were preserved as the result of a surveying error. The trees are massive and the trails are well maintained and marked by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. While the kids were sad to leave, we ended our trip with lunch at the Pickled Loon in Grand Rapids. Staying at the Lodge was a truly wonderful experience for our family and we will surely be back!
