Peaceful Environment, Super-convenient Location
We spent three months in the flat near Yehuda haMaccabi Street. The photographs accurately depict the apartment, which is full of light and appointed with clean, simple appurtenances. The main seating area (with the sofa and television) is next to a large wall of windows that open onto a view of tree- and roof-tops. Set away from the main street, the apartment is a serene respite from Tel Aviv's hustle and bustle.
But it is amazing convenient, especially with regard to transportation. Along Yehuda haMaccabi Street itself run at least five bus lines that go pretty much everywhere one needs to go: south, to Tel Aviv's center and beyond, including Yafo, the Central Bus Station, or the Carmel Market; or north, to the University, to Azorei Chen, and all along the Yarkon Park. With a short walk to Dereh Namir, one could hop on a bus directly to any location in the north of Israel.
By foot, the apartment was only a few minutes to the Yarkon River park, which includes pedestrian and bicycle/scooter paths and boating for recreation. The apartment was also just steps away from Milano Square, with its 24/7 cafe culture. Slightly further is the Tel Aviv Port and the sea-side recreation zone, and so every evening we walked the 15 minutes to watch the sun set over the Mediterranean.
So: location, location, location.
With regard to the apartment itself, we were comfortable there as a couple used to Israeli finishes. There was plenty of hot water from the solar tank, but had to use the boiler when the weather turned grey and rainy for more than a couple of days. Our teenage son visited for a week, and so he slept on the sofa; generally, the place is fine for a single person or a couple, but any more than that would be hard to accommodate.
We cooked extensively in the kitchen. The gas range was a nice amenity, but there is only a small electric oven for baking/cooking. (Of course, there is also a microwave for reheating.) The supplied utensils were sufficient for our needs.
Minor maintenance glitches were quickly addressed by the owners and their designated on-location contact.
So: if you want to stay in Tel Aviv, enjoy a bit of quiet, but have access to all the city's excitement just a short distance away, I can recommend this apartment enthusiastically.
