A thoroughly enjoyable stay

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we could not fault this superb Moat House. There isn't anything to fault with this holiday retreat. A nearby supermarket in a small village ten minutes away, we were a family of nine adults and there was sufficient seating inside and out, a huge kitchen with a large fridge and freezer and enough utensils, cutlery etc for us all. We had a huge roaring fire each night in the large living room. The owners are on site and very, very pleasant and accomodating although we didn't need them for anything. Waking every morning with a view of fields and the Moat cannot be beaten. Didn't want to leave and can't wait to return. Thank you for a lovely holiday as last year we had an awful holiday house so this year's accommodation more made up for it.

Dday with the family

We had a wonderfull stay. The house and surroudings are very beautifull. The location is perfect iff you want to visit all the dday events or beaches. We loved spending the evenings in the kitchen with the family to talk about the day we had. Very spacious kitchen.

De vakantiewoning is zeer ruim en is van alle moderne comfort voorzien. De rust en de mooie tuin zijn een grote troef. Je verblijft er in een bijzonder mooi ,historisch kader. Ideaal gelegen voor uitstappen naar de landingsstranden , Colleville , Bayeux , .... . Prima ontvangst door gastheer & gastvrouw Een aanrader.

Grand country retreat

Very special house with huge rooms, decorated in a grand traditional style, set in a large quod with the manoir (now a b&b) at one side. Lots of lovely places to sit quietly. Totally peaceful countryside surrounded by fields with short walks from the house. 7 min drive to Trevieres for boulongerie, Butcher, and decent convenience store. 15 minute drive to Omaha beach. This is long and sandy, perfect for sandcastles. Park between the monument and Vierville-sur-Mer to get away from crowds. 15-30 mins drive to lots of D-Day sites. 15 mins drive to Bayeux. You need to start queuing 8.30ish for the tapestry (we opted not to in COVID times).

Mooi landhuis en fijn verblijf

Het landhuis is erg mooi en goed onderhouden. De kamers, badkamers, keuken en alle andere voorzieningen waren top! De locatie is ideaal voor een bezoek aan alle bezienswaardigheden van D-day. De communicatie met de eigenaren verliep ook erg soepel en snel.

Delightful stay at the Moat House

A warm welcome, an amazing well-appointed and unique house (when was the last time you stayed someplace with a moat?), and beautiful surroundings made this a perfect place to come home to after our all-too-brief explorations in Normandy. We only wish we could have stayed longer—it was the kind of place that makes you feel instantly at home, and though it was just minutes away from everything we wanted to see and do, it felt like another peaceful world. We hope to go back for another visit!

Magnifique ferme-manoir du Bessin

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour en famille dans cette belle maison à la décoration raffinée. Située à proximité immédiate d'Omaha Beach, nous avons pu mettre à profit ce séjour pour réviser notre Histoire de France. Le salon, sa grande cheminée et les tables de jeux ainsi que la salle-à-manger furent particulièrement accueillants pour toutes les générations.

Excellent WE en famille.

Gîte exceptionnel pour passer quelques jours en famille. Demeure de charme, mais avec tout le confort nécessaire qui permet de se retrouver autour de la cheminée, ou dans la grande cuisine. La région permet de nombreuses visites historiques ou culturelles, et le temps a même été de la partie. A conseiller aux grandes familles.
