About the property

Sleeps 5+ w/ King, Queen, Twin and AreoBed. Only cabin in area with WiFi/Sat TV

Updated cabin 200 feet from the South Platte River, one mile north of Deckers in the community of Trumbull. Located along miles of public access Gold Medal fishing, this is a great place to start and finish your fishing or float day on the river. The river is a 5 minute walk from the front door. This river is fishing great (Rainbows and Browns over 18"' are common) and if you don't get out early, you will miss the good spots The cabin is remodeled and has a full modern kitchen, dining table, couch and easy chair and a Big Screen TV with Dish and WiFi (if you like seeing your e-mail, this is the best cabin for you)). One private bedroom with a King water bed, a bedroom with a Twin, and a Queen pull-out couch w/ extra foam topper.

Bath with shower. There is a porch for donning and removing/drying fishing gear. It is a great sleeping porch..

There is a large covered gazebo for relaxing and having a beer while you grill your dinner. There is no cell service in the valley- there is a phone at the cabin.

This is offered to responsible adults for fishing, and quiet enjoyment. Have a few beers but don't be jerks, and you are welcome back!

Depending on how you utilize the beds, it can sleep 3 to 6. That is the maximum I will allow. A dog is an option, for additional deposit. Fenced area and dog door.

A small restaurant, a liquor store, a general store and fly shop are 1 mile away. Ask me about guided fly fishing! I accept 90% of reservation requests.

THIS IS A NON-SMOKING RESIDENCE!

About Art Momper

I live in Littleton Co and use this cabin myself. I take Combat Wounded Veterans hunting and fishing in Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska, so I cannot use it as often and I decided to 'share' my cabin. Ask about discounts for military and wounded warriors.

Why Art Momper chose Castle Rock Area

There are limited rental choices and most of the rental properties in the area are very basic, and have no WiFi/e-mail. This is a nice property with all the comforts including WiFi and HBO and Big Screen TV

What makes this cabin unique

Location is excellent- walk to fishing. Off the river a few hundred feet, so not as much traffic or activity to disturb you. Sits a bit higher so you have a good view.

Fantastic - Just what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

My husband I were looking for a no-fuss weekend getaway and this place definitely fit the bill - it's clean and quiet with great views. We spent our mornings and evenings overlooking the mountains from the seating area outside and enjoyed watching the deer that hung out in the back yard. There's a ton to do in the area and the locals are extremely helpful when it comes to asking for ideas. We did a guided fly-fishing tour with John from Flies and Lies (a blast) and spent a half-day hiking at Wellington Lake, upon his recommendation, which was beautiful. The river literally has gold flakes in it, which was pretty awesome.

As for the cabin, I'm not one for roughing it so I was concerned about the whole bring-your-own-drinking-water aspect. Turns out, it wasn't a problem at all and the cabin is so well maintained that it didn't even feel like roughing it. We didn't bring the dogs this time but, after seeing the fenced in area, probably will next time - because there will be a next time!

The owner is really easy to work with and I knew exactly what to expect. I highly recommend this place (even if it was too early in the season to take advantage of the hammock!).

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review Allison! I have put a lot of effort into the cabin and condition and services! I have the only cabin in the area with WiFi and e-mail. I have added a drinking water system as of 6/16. Glad to hear you are planning to come back and your dog is welcome. The fishing is sure getting good!

Hunter/Fisher/ Hiker/ Runner perfect......Fall outdoor place to be .....Dont drink the water!

  • 4 of 5

For us city dwellers, our annual pilgrimage tends to take us to the Rockies. This year, three 50+ dudes and a college graduate daughter enjoyed this place for all it has to offer.

We fished, sought bucks, hiked and had pizza down the road. 2/3 of us, found venison in the woods and all of us were able to take grab and grin photos of Browns and Rainbows across the street(on flies and midges of course). Beer just down the street too.

Military daughter made us feel very fat from her runs up and down the street for miles on end. Never once was concerned about strangers or weirdos.

Overall not really roughing it,(don't tell the wives) except for the potable water. Don't drink from the tap, we are told. OK, i forgot a few times but still alive. Bought $250 worth of groceries, ok ok a little much for the cupboards but we made do by stacking.

Fun place for guys and gals, my daughter loved it.

Thanks for the pleasure

Owner's Response: Thanks for the response Mark. I think I delivered all I promised and you had a great time in the cabin and hunting and fishing, so I am not sure what I could add to get 5 stars, but I appreciate the review. As of 6/16, I have added a drinking water unit. As for the food space, I rarely have 4 adults for a week, so that is a lot of food! Non-perishables can be on the patio, and I have spare coolers available, too. Hope to see you again!

Total Relaxation and Fantastic View

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful area with gorgeous views from your front porch, great place to unwind. The cabin is just as advertised, everything you need and more. Clean, very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The only minor inconvenience is you need to bring fresh water for drinking & brushing your teeth etc. Roughing it, I don’t think so, haha. The location is quite and relaxing, we had a great time. The owner is very responsive and easy to work with. This will be an annual get-a-way! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review Jon! I always do my best have the cabin in good condition and the area is certainly relaxing and quiet. To be clear to readers, the only water needed is drinking, and the well is fine for shower, toilet, and dishes. If you want WiFi and e-mail and Dish, this is still the only cabin in the area with these services. The high river flow in 2015 feed the fish well and they are getting to record size. See you next year!

Awesome cabin at a fair price

  • 5 of 5

Myself and three business colleagues rented this cabin so we could fish the South Platte. Cabin was very convenient to great fishing holes. Cabin is very nicely furnished and updated. Very fair rental price for such quality! Highly recommend!

Owner's Response: Thanks Bob! Glad you all caught fish! The fish are getting to be 16" to 24" and I saw one caught that was nearly 30"! My cabin is by far the nicest in the area, the only with WiFi, and I appreciate your review.

Updated cabin on the South Platte River between Denver and Colorado Springs, CO. Pike National Forest, Hiking, mountain biking. OHV, ATV and dirt bike riding nearby at Ramparts Range and Sprucewood.

Try tubing on the river, and swimming in the Platte. This is a 'tailwater river', meaning it is flow controlled by a dam, so it is rarely running at levels that are difficult to handle. In Spring and early summer, the river runs several feet deep to spots 4-5' deep. Later in the summer, it may only be 2-3 foot deep in the main channels. It still fishes great. Watch for Bald Eagles in season! You will see the occasional Osprey eating a trout! Ducks, geese and hummingbirds are frequent.

Castle Rock is 35 minutes away, Denver is 50 minutes and Woodland Park/Colorado Springs is 40 minutes south. The nearest town is Buffalo Creek, 25-30 minutes, with limited services. Gas and one restaurant.
