Adrian Kosky & Carla Maxwell
About Adrian Kosky & Carla Maxwell
We are an Australian couple who first came to visit Clarksdale as friends one afternoon in 2006 and fell in love with the people and culture of Clarksdale, Mississippi. Many return trips later and six years after our first Clarksdale visit together, we purchased the building that we now call The Holy Moly. We bought this masonic temple to have a project we could work on together and to have a place to live and be near family and friends. As friends, and as a couple, we have been the visitors in this national treasure that is The Mississippi Delta. We have taken canoe trips on the Mississippi River, we have enjoyed the food and music in Clarksdale, over and over again. We have made friends with the local characters during our visits and enjoyed starting anew and becoming locals ourselves. We want to encourage others to do what we have done and become part of The Holy Moly story. Since purchasing the building in 2012, we have set up four apartments on the ground floor. We live in one of the apartments, and we are working on the second floor, as we plan to open The Holy Moly Theatre in 2017. Sometimes we play music together, and separately, too. That's another thing we like to do.

Why Adrian Kosky & Carla Maxwell chose Clarksdale
We fell in love with Clarksdale, its culture, and its characters. We love the music, the musicians, the art and artists of the Mississippi Delta and the rest of the American music triangle. We have family in this area of the U.S.A and enjoy being close to them. The Holy Moly Eastern Star executive suite allows us and its residents to become part of a story --joining in the revitalisation, helping with the rejuvenation, and reviving the cultural heartbeat of downtown Clarksdale, Mississippi.
What makes this Apartment unique
The Holy Moly building was built in 1923, but it has all new plumbing and electric wiring. As of 2014, all appliances, heating & air-conditioning, in the Eastern Star executive suite are new. Through our property manager, residents can schedule an on-site, relaxing & therapeutic, massage; and/or arrange an authentic, guided, tour for two (or for a group) of the Mississippi Delta with The Real Delta. Or just stay out late and sleep in at The Holy Moly, 'Blues Central,' downtown Clarksdale. Enjoy the late night blues venues.....

Everything they said it would be
This place is in perfect distance to everything. Inside was amazing. I truly loved my trip away from the city. I will definitely be visiting again!!!
Loved the town and the whole ambience of the place.
The property was.as expected, clean and all the things i needed for a simple few days,i really don,t require a lot on a trip like this,i couldn,t get the oven working, and there wasn,t what we in the UK.call a grill,i don,t doubt the oven was working,i just couldn,t get it to work, and i have no doubt that if i had contacted Adrian he would have came down amd explained, but i let it slide, there was a washing machine and dryer, that was handy, and a TV with Netflix again though i am not looking for that,so overall it was fine its just that people are looking for different things,i am looking for clean, and it was.I would stay again without a doubt.
Disappointed but good location
We have stayed in may”Home away” houses and condos all over the country and the first impression here was not the one we wished. You walk in to a very large room with a concrete floor stained with the glue of the previous flooring with some throw rugs around. We went to pull our clothes out of our suitcases since we were staying for 5 days but there was only two luggage racks, the kind you move suitcases through a hotel, no dresser or chest of drawers. We had to live out of our suitcases for the time we were there. The kitchen had enough plates, utensils, etc. for two but there was no coffee filters no sugar no spices of any kind, nothing to make a stay a little more comfortable, you know the little things that last and you shouldn’t have to buy for a short stay. The Executive Suite faces due east with huge windows that don’t open and are covered with very light curtains ( I use curtains loosely) so don’t expect to sleep in, it gets very bright early and speaking of sleeping, the king bed is two twins pushed together. There were some other minor things that all together made us feel the price was more than what is was worth. As I said we have stayed in many “home aways “ and this one had the least feel of “Home”. It did have some good qualities like being within walking distance to many places in downtown Clarksdale, the ac worked well and the shower was great. There was parking directly out front. We only met Adrian and he was very friendly and we were allowed to stay past check out time, thank you. With some homey additions and touches it would be more comfortable, but as it is we wouldn’t stay again. I don’t usually write reviews because we have found that not many places are perfect but there is always so much more good than not. This time we were disappointed.
Holy Moly, Comfortable and Convenient
Location, location! Holy Moly is conveniently located in downtown Clarksdale. Each day I woke and sat on the bench outside to watch the sunrise over the bus station while enjoying a cup of coffee and painting on the bench right outside the door. Towns people and tourist stop to chat as they are out for a morning stroll. The bed is quite comfortable and the kitchen allows you to cook your own food or eat out. Adrian and Carla were super friendly and accessible when we needed them. I'm definitely go to stay here again.
Location, Location, Location!
Enjoyed our stay at the Holy Moly in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Great location to everything Clarksdale. We were able to park and walk to most local attractions including Ground Zero and the Blueberry Cafe. Both a must visit in Clarksdale. The Holy Moly was comfortable and clean with everything you'l need for your stay. Aiden met us as expected and answered any questions we had about the area as it was our first visit. Friendly and helpful hosts!
The Eastern Star executive suite is situated on the ground floor of The Holy Moly, a beautiful historic building right in the centre of the downtown blues precinct. The Holy Moly has four apartments on the ground floor, three of which are lived-in and worked-in by people involved in the cultural economy of Clarksdale.
Right on the corner of the building, The Holy Moly Drug Store provides a wonderful place to indulge in good coffee and old-school ice cream treats like sundaes and banana splits. The Holy Moly Theatre and Temple of Treats will open in early 2015, as part of the revitalisation of the building's second floor, making the Eastern Star executive suite a great place to stay if you or yours are involved in one of the shows, or if you wish to be close to the fun.
Just across the road you'll find the visitor’s information centre, housed in the delightfully-restored art deco Greyhound Bus Station. The delicious Dutch Oven bakery is also across the road. The new Pinkbar, with its great food, bar, and late hours, is only 150 feet away. Oxbow restaurant with its modern twist on Delta quisine is one block down the street. Within two easy-walking blocks you'll find: Stony Pony Pizza, Delta Amusements, an original local Clarksdale restaurant; Dreamboat Jerry’s, a lovely place for delicious BBQ; Ground Zero Blues Club with live music, good food, and beverages; and Fred's Super Dollar Store for groceries.
Real Delta art gallery is housed in part of The Holy Moly. Hambone Music & Art Gallery is just two short blocks away, as is the Cat Head Delta Blues & Folk Art store. Lambfish, Foxtrot, Give me Gumbo, and Sun House galleries are all less than a five-minute walk away. The Delta Blues Museum and the Rock & Blues Museum are both only one block away.
The New Roxy music venue is only a short stroll down Issaquena Avenue. Red's, a real-deal juke joint, is within a 500-yard walk. Bluesberry, a local music venue, is right around the corner from The Holy Moly. The Delta Museum Stage is one block away, where free local music concerts are held.
