New in 2014 upscale cabin with granite, alder & logs Ideal for Family Reunions

'The Heber C' (on 8/10 acre) on Kimball Lane is part of the old Heber C Kimball estate. With 9 Bedrooms & 10 Bathrooms and a large bonus room above the 3 car garage with it's own bath, there is plenty of room for the whole family. There are 2 completely furnished kitchens, 2 laundry rooms, a large wraparound covered deck with a great view of Bear Lake! 2 very spacious Master Bedrooms, one on the main level and another on walk-out basement level. The deck above has an outdoor fireplace for roasting marshmallows when the Fire Marshall says no to open fires. Open pit for fires in the back yard (when permitted). Walk to Pickleville Playhouse for live entertainment. (reservations required) Walk 9/10 mile to the public beach access on the 250 E Loop Road.

MAIN LEVEL*** Master Bedroom with large jetted tub & custom shower. Great Room (Kitchen, Dining, Living) has a full masonry fireplace. BR #2 has 1/2 bath plus there is an extra 1/2 bath in the hall.

UPSTAIRS***BR # 3 & 4 each have a full bath. BR #5 & 6 share a full bath between them.

BONUS ROOM*** Large area above 3 car garage has foosball and air hockey & Large flat screen with DVD. We provide pillows & 36 twin mattresses, BYO bag.

DOWNSTAIRS*** BR # 7 & 8 share a large 3/4 bath with a custom shower. Laundry room. Large full bath. BR # 9 is another spacious Master with a full bath. Step out onto a large shady patio at ground level. BR & Bath # 9 has 3 foot wide doors at the ground level making it wheelchair accessible. Large lawn area is great for family games and feel free to use the horse pasture for softball etc. The horses will move into the other pasture unless you have carrots.

We served a mission for our church in Nauvoo Illinois and we have chosen to use our memoriblia from LDS Church History to decorate our cabin. We hope you will enjoy the sweet spirit we feel there.

About Ellen Maynes

Mel is a retired Mason contractor and has worn his body right out lifting bricks and block for some 50 plus years. Ellen is a licensed general contractor & loves designing & building cabins. We are empty nesters and have served 4 missions for our church. Nauvoo in 2005 - 2007, Martin's Cove 2009, 6th Crossing of the Sweetwater in 2010 and Deseret Land & Livestock in 2011.

We sold our home before we went to Nauvoo and Built a new home when we returned. When we were called to serve at the Handcart sites of Wyoming for 6 months we decided to rent our new home out for family reunions while we were away. We called it 'The Gathering Place' (another cabin, next door that we rent out). When a spec cabin sold in 2012 we decided to build this cabin with nightly rentals in mind. We had listened to our guests at 'The Gathering Place' and decided to add more bathrooms as suggested. 10 might be just a little over the top.

Why Ellen Maynes chose Garden City

When we were serving in Nauvoo, we learned to love The Early Saints. Ellen learned that Heber C Kimball baptized her G. G. G. Grandpa in England. We served in his home in Nauvoo. When we came home we built on a piece of property that once belonged to Heber C and his family. It just seemed fitting to call our cabin 'The Heber C.'

What makes this cabin unique

The wrap-around porch is shady in the afternoon and protected from the prevailing N.N.W. winds. We love to relax on the deck and enjoy the view of the lake and the agricultural lands below. When you design & build a home with your own blood, sweat & tears you have a greater appreciation for all the details and all that went into it.

great place for a family reunion!

This house was an ideal property for our family reunion. 9 bedrooms gave each family their own space plus there was plenty of room to cook and dine together. The kids loved the bonus room for their sleepovers and the yard for playing. The patio provided a great view and was well used by the adults. We used the grill and the fire pit and both added to our enjoyment. Ellen, the owner, was helpful with our questions. Thanks for sharing your house with us.

Perfect for a Mulit Family Getaway

What a Beautiful Home!!! The way the house is built is perfect for a multi family getaway. You have two different upstairs, one for kids and one for family. This house was built to give everyone there own space at the same time keeping everyone together. For Thanksgiving 2016 we stayed here. It had everything needed for making memories. The owner even dug us a pit to cook one of our turkeys. Two Kitchens was nice. Great Time!!!

Extraordinary Home - Perfect For Rememberance Celebration

We needed a home which would accomodate a 36 multi generational family and this extraordinary home was perfect! From the two kitchens to the wonderful yard for the kids to play on; this home has it all. The 2nd floor bonus room was a great room for the cousins to have a sleep over in and they felt like they had their own place. Ellen ensured everything was perfect for us.....thanks so much your property made our parents rememberance memorable!

Wonderful Experience

This house made our family want to a) live in Garden City, and b) build a big family reunion house. Everyone at our family reunion kept saying how nice it was to all be together under the same roof. The kids loved the abundance of mattresses in the upstairs bonus room and that they all go to sleep together. Everyone was very comfortable in their bedroom. And I was surprised how well stocked the kitchen was! I brought some small appliances I would need for for cooking, but I didn't need them! Everything I needed was there, and in multiples in some cases (4 griddles, 2 crockpots). It made cooking for 29 people much easier. Thanks to Ellen for being so wonderful!

Family reunion!

Beautiful property with a view of the lake! This house has everything! Ellen lives next door and is attentive to any concerns. Tons of parking on a private drive for several families to descend for a reunion. We had 53 ish people there and the home was the best we could ask for. Two well equipped kitchens are a must for a group this size! There is only a small coffee maker, so if you want more...bring it! Everything you need for a great vacation is right here!

Fantastic accommodations for a large group

The owner, Ellen, was fantastic to work with and actually lives near the property. She was great at working with our large group of about 50 to accommodate all of our needs. The cabin was very clean, new, and had plenty of sleeping space for our large group. Two kitchens also helped with meal preparation. The property was close to Ideal Beach (though you need a pass to drive in), bike trails, Pickleville Playhouse, and a short drive to Garden City. We actually brought a large youth group of girls and they loved the experience!
