Attention to Details

  • 4 of 5

This is a return visit to this cabin. This is a yearly trip to celebrate anniversary and birthday. We had a wonderful time last year and booked early enough this year to get an actual weekend stay. When we pulled in on Thursday afternoon, the peace and quiet was broken by the sound of nail guns and workers yelling and talking. There had been no previous notice that there was construction in the area. All of the blinds in the cabin were closed, so you walked into a completely darken room. Easy fix, turn on a light, but the details are what entice you to return. Some of the small things that were overlooked: the clock in the living area was not working, the clock in the bedroom was set to July date and 1900 time, there is a finial off the curtain rod over the patio slider, the cover to the hot tub is tearing and inside layer is dropping very small pieces of styrofoam into the water, not exactly inviting, there is an outside light out that needs to be replaced, but the most disappointing event was the cookware. Most of the items that were pulled from a drawer had bits of dried food on them. They had not been cleaned well, leading to wash everything prior to using it. There was one spatula in the drawer that was melted, unusable that really need to be thrown away. One of the skillets had burned on food that had not been scrubbed off. These things are not major issues, however, when a premium price is paid for the stay, and actions are required of the guest to wash their own towels and put dishes away, I would expect each detail would be tended to, and not left for the next guest to discover. These items will not deter a possible return to the cabin, but maybe a review of what is checked at each cleaning will give more weight to the decription of "luxury" cabin.

All in all, a pretty decent 2 day getaway.

  • 4 of 5

Cabin was beautiful inside and out, but it could have been a lot more secluded. Couldn't use the Hot tub the 1st night because it wasn't hot enough, but it was great the 2nd night. Still felt a little exposed getting in and out of it. Not what I would call peaceful outside. I could hear highway noise outside the cabin. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a7.5.

Terrific Cabin Venue

  • 4 of 5

This lovely cabin is very attractively appointed and very nicely equipped. Very comfortable king size bed, terrific tiled shower, well maintained hot tub, full size fridge and freezer with - get this - a functioning in-door icemaker! Full size electric range and oven and a dishwasher. Washer and dryer! The arm chair and sofa are very comfortable for reading or watching TV. The gas fireplace makes for a cozy environment; the only annoyance is that its on a timer that you have to get up and reset every 30 minutes and the flame is not adjustable. I would have loved to be able to turn it down a bit.

The one unenjoyable aspect of this cabin is the counter dining set up. We came intending to prepare most of our meals the three nights there. But we so little enjoyed sitting at the counter to eat that we ended up going out for dinner the last two nights. Not only do we find it unpleasant sitting side by side to dine, the cushioned barstools are so low that at six feet tall I felt like the counter was chest high and for my wife it was virtually chin high. It is impossible to relax at table under such an arrangement. As this cabin is clearly designed for only two people it seems like it would be so much more useful and enjoyable if it had even a small table with comfortable dining chairs. Plus with no table and chairs we had nowhere to play dominos or cards.

If you are wine drinkers, bring glasses as there is only one wine glass. And if you're particular about your coffee mugs as I am, you might bring your fav mug as well, as you have only one large bowl shaped mug option here.

In suitable weather the spacious deck and fire pit area would be most enjoyable.

Due to the dining set up we will unlikey stay here again on our trips to the area, but for a couple for whom this is not an issue, this cabin is absolutely terrific. A+
