Property was generally as described and in a quiet location but within a few minutes walk of two reasonably priced bar/restaurants. Rooms were pleasant and clean with lots of nice 'homely' touches. The internet connection was intermittent in most of the property for those in need of that facility.Good view from the balcony but could be improved if the boundary wall at the front was a bit lower.Owners were accessible and helpful as they lived reasonably close.Overall, a pleasant stay in a comfortable property situated in a quiet location.

A very special place!

We had a lovely stay with the family and particularly enjoyed the beautiful views from the roof terrace. Darren, the owner, was readily contactable and responded quickly whenever we had any queries. Es Grau is the perfect place for a family holiday, especially with young children as the sandy beach is safe, clean and only minutes away from the house.

Perfect Location and a great house

The house is very easy to get to from the airport only 12 minutes by car. The house location is perfect with only a few minutes walk from the beach and the supermarket even closer. Great views of the sea from both balconies, very child friendly and overall a very relaxing holiday.

Magical views and terraces in an even more magical place

Boy were we lucky to find Es Grau and to find this lovely little vacation home. Darren and Aurelia, we can completely see why you love it here. The rooftop terrace is the best room in the house! :) Perfect to watch the sunset and relax with a bottle of wine and/or a snack. The front terrace is also quite nice and we used that for our breakfast in the morning. Steps from the kayak rental place and Es Grau's little supermarket where you can get the staples that you need (for bigger shopping, I would recommend going into Mahon). I liked that necessary things were labeled and/or noted (i.e. - light switches, caution about upper terrace, the shower in the garage, etc.). And thank you Darren and Aurelia for your responsiveness and clear communication when needed. We were only there for three days, but we would love to come back to your home when we visit Es Grau again, and definitely for longer. What a beautiful place to be. For dinner, I would suggest L, Avi Bernadet Fiol. Friendly service and good food. Before dinner, we had a bottle of wine and sat on the water's edge at Restaurant Tamarindos to watch the sunset one night.

Beach life in a stylish, cute village house!

We were 4 adults and two kids staying for 1 week in July. It would be hard to find a house that ticked more boxes for us! Super stylish but welcoming and comfortable. A proper village feel with a mix of locals and foreigners on holiday. You can walk out in your bare feet and jump into the sea from the little harbour. You can stroll out the door for coffee/food. You can walk to a sandy shallow beach (a bit seaweedy but you're in a protected area so it's natural!). You can go for a shady walk in the woods with jasmine growing around you and spot tortoises! The kids loved hunting for crabs around the harbour and rocky coves (we even saw an octopus!)... and swimming from the pedalos . And then it's short easy drive to Mao or other beaches or places to visit. The house was clean and cool. Maybe it was a little small for 6 people (kitchen is narrow and we fought over who gets the fabulous terrace bedroom!)... but with a choice of two terraces and most of the time spent outdoors it really wasn't a problem. Highly recommend and a fabulous introduction to our first time in Menorca. We've never been back to the same holiday place twice but this might just be it!

Driftwood

Es Grau is a lovely little village that has retained a village atmosphere and the house, Driftwood, is conveniently situated to be able access all the village has to offer. It is walking distance to the beach, the restaurants/cafes and supermarket. It is also walking distance to a section of The Cami de Cavalls where we enjoyed a walk each morning before relaxing in the shade with a morning coffee at the bar Es Grau. Driftwood is a semi detached, spacious, spotlessly clean house with all the amenities available as described and shown in the photographs on the website. When we discovered a broken parasol on the roof terrace which meant restricting our access to that area, a short text message to the owners had the issue resolved quickly and a new parasol arrived the following day. We were really appreciative of the quick response as the terrace offers wonderful views of the bay and our time there has created some lovely, lasting memories. One thing we would recommend is to look at Google maps if you are taking a car to the property. There are parking spaces near the property but not directly outside the house, front or back. We had no difficulty finding a space in the nearby car park during the week but it was busy on the Sunday when there were many more visitors at the beach. Also, the lovely master bedroom and en-suite with access to the roof terrace is up some steep, narrow stairs. Not a problem for us but it might be a consideration for others.

Beautiful unspoilt Spanish fishing Village

This is not our first time to the village, but our first time staying at this house, the house is only a 15 minute drive from the airport so our holiday started soon after the flight. The house is well equipped, modern, & has everything you need with plenty of space, the wifi even working on both terraces was very handy, the house is very homely and a lot of care and detail has gone into it from the owners Darren & Aurelia. We loved to be able to dine outside from either the bottom terrace or top terrace, both have sea views and the top terrace has 180 degree views of the entire bay of Es Grau. The village of Es Grau for us is perfect, the local shop is 2 minutes walk away, you are 2 mins walk from the sea and the small harbour of the village, the beach is less than 5 minutes walk away, the water is very shallow and clear perfect for children & very safe, if you don't want the hassle of sand and the beach we found a a great swimming area 2 minutes from the house with steps into the see making it easy access. The village has its own bar 'Bar Es Grau' this is on the beach and has wonderful views, its great for snacks & lunches, the perfect spot for a beer or glass of wine at sunset. Tamarindos is a Mediteranian Resturant with the sea lapping at your feet, it's right on the beech, the menu is mostly locally sourced food. Bar Es Mol is situated on the harbor in the village 2 minutes walk from the house, here you can watch the boats come in and all the daily going's on, whilst enjoying some fried sardines or other tapas, also a wonderful spot for coffee in the morning. The last eatery is Can Bernadet, this is the locals favorite, this bar/restaurant is less than 2 minutes walk from the house, Francisco serves tapas, Paella and locally caught fresh fish, this was our favorite for food in the village. We had some wonderful walks, behind the beech is The S'Albufera Natural Park, fabulous for the views of the lakes and wildlife, we even saw a tourtoise, other walks we did we're over the headlands with dramatic sea views. Mahon the capital is a 12 minute car ride, great shopping and restaurants, it has local markets including a fresh fish market. The Port of Mahon is where it all happens at night if you want some night live, it's only 12 minutes by car and has a huge choice of restaurants, bars and it's a lovely walk at night, we loved to walk along the Port spotting all the millionaire's yachts. Amazing stay

We spent a fantastic holiday at this home! Super clean and well appointed for our group of 7 (we also rented the bonus garage room). Loved the rooftop for happy hour and views of the beautiful ocean! The village is super cute and has a handful of restaurants that you can have lunch or dinner at and they were all good. The village of Es Grau is so quaint and the beach lovely for swimming! Overall and amazing stay!

Excellente situation

Le village d'Es Grau est authentique et situé sur le parc naturel.L' hébergement est spacieux et cosy. L'emplacement est idéal et les deux terrasses très agréables.Les équipements sont vraiment complets.Le linge de maison est fourni, ce qui allège bien les bagages.La chambre parentale est superbe. Nous y aurions juste souhaité un matelas de meilleur qualité ou plus récent.Le poêle à bois a bien servi pour les fraîches soirées de Mars.Les propriétaires ont été très prévenants en nous adressant des petits messages pour s'assurer que notre séjour se déroulait sans soucis. Merci à eux.Si nous retournons à Minorque nous opterons pour le même endroit.

This was our third time in Es Grau, first time in this property - we found it very convenient and nice for the four of us. Friendly neighbourhood, nice restaurants and very calm. The house itself is fully equipped. Recommended throughout! Thanks a lot for the good times we had.

Loved it!

Darren and Aurelia’s house is in the very charming village of Es Grau, a short drive from Mahon and the airport, so very convenient. This little village has escaped tourism and is totally charming. The house was very tastefully decorated with a seaside theme which we loved. All rooms were a good size. There were only 2 of us but it had 3 good bedrooms and would be wonderful for a family with children. Kitchen, lounge, bathroom and 2 bedrooms on the ground floor, as well as a shady terrace with glimpses of the sea and a lovely double en suite bedroom upstairs, which led out to the huge roof terrace with sunbeds, chairs and tables and a bbq. It had lovely views of the sea and boats coming into the harbour from the front and also from the side you could see the beach. The house was very well equipped and it had everything there to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Definitely a home from home. The house was so convenient for everything with a small supermarket 1 minute away. The 4 eating establishments in the village were very nice and each only about 2/3 minutes walk away. We loved Bar Es Moll, 2 minutes walk and had many lunches and evening meals there. 4 minutes walk to the beach, so shallow and safe for children, with the nature reserve at the back where we walked many times to the lake. Beautiful. Saw lots of tortoises! You can walk right round the horseshoe shaped beach to another lovely beach or can take Juan’s water taxi to the island to other beaches. The locals were extremely friendly. Would we go back? Yes yes yes! Loved the house and loved Es Grau. We came back so relaxed. Wish we were still there!

Absolutely perfect, idyllic family holiday

What can I say, this holiday home is absolutely perfect for a family holiday. I say home as it feels just like your own home. We have already decided to stay again next year! It has everything you could possibly want or need in a holiday home. My daughter loved the kids bedroom with all the toys and books, and all the extras that the family leave for your use are excellent. We made good use of the child carrier on our family walks in the local national park and the beach toys at the beautiful nearby beach, only a few minutes walk away from the house. The location is perfect, small supermarket a couple of minutes walk away, close by restaurants and bars. Kids swing park and juice bar all very close. The roof terrace was idyllic for evening dinners, so peaceful and quiet. I cannot recommend this property or the village of es grau highly enough. We will definitely be back! And we have already recommended it to many friends and family. Can't wait to return!

Menorca trip 2019

We arrived to a very welcoming home in Es Grau Darren and Aurelia have clearly put a lot of work into a lovely home. We loved waking up and looking over the top terrace which is straight off the master bedroom out to sea. There is deckchairs and a bbq up there next to a well painted blue wall and well built brick wall which wasn’t there on my previous trip. Down stairs is another 2 bedrooms a sitting room with English Channel TV with WiFi and a kitchen with plenty of pots, dishes and cutlery. Outside is a downstairs terrace with a table and chairs where we enjoyed eating lunch and dinner. We enjoyed the kayak shop in Es Grau and after hiring it for the week we could go and explore. Further more the house is a stones throw away from the port and the beach. There is a lovely little cafe which you can sit, drink and eat. I can’t wait to go back to the property. Massive thank you to Darren and Aurelia for presenting such a lovely home.

Es Grau has a wow factor!

The village is perfect, very Spanish with a lovely charm. The house suited us just fine, it’s minutes form the beach, local small supermarket and village restaurant & bars. We had a car to go to Mahon the capital and Port for a wide choice of restaurants and bars. Lots of lovely nature walks around also. We will definitely be back!

We know the island very well and can give many recommendations if required.

We as a family find the Menorca/Es Grau holiday very easy and relaxing, the flight from the UK is short only 1 hr 50 minutes, you arrive then in Mahon airport which is only 15 minutes from Es grau so if you collect your hire car or grab a taxi you know very soon your holiday starts with no hassle.
Es grau is ideal for families, the bay is perfect for swimming and paddling with small children as the sea is shallow and warm for a long way out.
Es Grau is a small unspoilt fishing village, there are three restaurants and one bar.
The village has a very Spanish feel to it.
The village has a kayak and mountain bike hire shop which offer great tours.
There is a local shop for all your groceries.
There is an uninhabited Island 10 minutes away which can be reached by boat, the island has idilic beaches and is a must see. There is a local business who runs a boat taxi.
Es Grau is great for walking and hiking, there is a nature reserve that backs onto the beach, this is a popular walking spot.
There is a water sports hire place on Es Grau beach.
Mahon the capital is 15 minutes drive away which has an amazing port and super yahtcs, the port has an array of fantastic bars and restaurants and lovely for an evening stroll.
Mahon is also great for shopping with local markets also.
The house is spacious, modern and was fully renovated in 2013.
It has modern amenities with everything you need.
There is a garage.
Menorca is a one hour drive from one end to another, the island has amazing beaches and places to to visit. The old capital Ciutadella has lots of history and another port so well worth a visit.
