About the property

Studio. Second story with first floor for laundry and owner storage.

Unit with the first story as storage and laundry facilities only, so plenty of privacy. Surrounding grounds are landscaped with a verity of tropical plants. The property is located on an island but within 5 minute stroll to the village. Near all the nightlife/restaurants /shopping/etc. the village has to offer. Just a few paddle/oar strokes across an 80 ft protected canal brings you across to the mainland. Personal skiff provided of course. While the vast majority of our guests have had no problems with moving across the canal, it does require a minimal amount of exertion and balance. If there is any question of your physical abilities, please consider this before booking. Read our reviews in this regard. Feel free to contact us with any questions you might have if there are concerns. Our property manager will assist with you luggage when you occupy and leave our home.

There is a 10ft wide veranda spanning the side and rear to the property. The rear veranda allows beautiful view of Placencia lagoon with Maya Mountains in the background. This unit has whisper quiet, split unit, whole living space air conditioning. Queen bed and a fully stocked kitchen with all appliances/utensils etc. needed to prepare your catch of the day or to take advantage of all the fresh fruits and vegetables the village has to offer. WiFi internet and cable TV included as well. Laundry facilities available. Perfect launch point for all related water activities. You can be picked up by boat after 30 steps or so to the front dock. Car not necessary but parking located on mainland across canal directly across from property. Landing/ loading dock on mainland side. Fishing available off the dock.

If sailing and need a little shore time, 80 ft of dock available, along with power and water for extra fee. Deep water dock. Fuel services etc. available a short distance up the canal which fronts our property.

Live and work in Northern Idaho. Our Honeymoon was in Placencia. We fell in love with Belize and Placencia in particular. 20 years later and through a near complete destruction by hurricane, we continue to feel we have one the best locations in Placencia, if not all of Belize. We are avid Scuba/fishing people and we spend every minute of every vacation in Belize and have been doing so since before building our home there

The cabana has everything you need for a really comfortable visit. We stayed there for 10 weeks. The wrap around deck was my favorite spot. We observed more than 30 different bird species just sitting and relaxing. Some of them were quite exotic. We caught black snapper right out back ten feet from the cabana. In addition, tour guides will pick you up and drop you off at the front dock. Amazing!

The village is a short paddle across the canal and easy stroll a few hundred yards up Sunset Point Rd.

Susan and JB visited and stayed in the main house while we were there. I've never met landlords as concerned and caring of their guests and we travel extensively. They shared freshly caught Bonita, lightly seared on the grill, plus beer. On another occasion, they gave us some fresh flounder that was some of the best tasting fish I've ever experienced.

As you can tell, we loved our stay. The accommodations and the landlords are great. The property manager Stefano is also great. Lastly, right next door at the Sailfish Inn, you can enjoy the pool and swim up bar. The owners, Mike and Jen are wonderful neighbors.

Overall, this was one of the best experiences of our many travels. We recommend this property to everyone. You won't regret it.

Close to everything yet still secluded.

My wife and I stayed here on our first visit to Placencia not knowing what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. The property manager met us near the property and guided us in. He gave us a couple ideas for both activities and good places to eat, This home had all the essentials we needed for a great stay. We particularly liked being close to town but still secluded from it if we chose to be. Despite being the rainy season having experienced a few storms we had no problems. The landscaping was immaculate. We would recommend this place foe any couple wishing to visit Placencia.

Loved this hidden gem!

Our stay at this apartment totally met our needs. We were surprised that we didn't use the A/C at all! The fans and ocean breezes were all we needed to stay cool and comfortable. Paddling across the canal added to the fun.

Second visit even better than the first! Our favorite rental. Highly recommended!

My wife and I recently returned from an extended stay at the Cap’s Inn. It was our second stay in the apartment, having spent five weeks there last year. In the run up to our trip, we both agreed that our first glimpse of the Cap’s Inn would be our Aha! moment – the moment that we’d be officially back in Placencia! As we followed the carefully laid stepping stone path through the beautiful tropical property, surrounded by flowering plants, we both relaxed and felt like we had never left.

The property was exactly as we remembered, with some improvements to the grounds and some new decorations in the apartment. The apartment construction is very high quality and immaculately kept. We spent six wonderful weeks sitting on the huge, wraparound deck, reading, exercising, and enjoying a few drinks while we listened to birds singing and the swaying of huge palms. Every night we were treated to the most spectacular sunsets over the Belizean mountains, and a gentle breeze that meant we could skip the air conditioning, drifting to sleep listening to the sounds of the mangroves.

Cap’s Inn is an exceptionally well-appointed getaway, with quality modern appliances, a full kitchen, a washing machine, and an charcoal BBQ. We loved grilling fish at night, then enjoying our meal in the outdoor dining area. The owners have arranged for guests to use the pool (and swim-up bar!) at the resort next door. We loved rowing our skiff across the waterway – some see this as an inconvenience, but it adds so much privacy and security to the property. It’s a perfect home base for enjoying everything in Placencia – close to the central area, but far enough away that you can’t hear the activity in town.

The owners, as with last year, responded immediately to any questions we had. When I emailed one night with a question about the septic system, one of their friends came by the next morning and helped us. Incredible! We can’t thank them enough for their responsiveness, or that of Stefano and Jordan, the local property managers – though we didn’t need their assistance, it was wonderful to chat with them when they visited to greet new arrivals at the front house.

The Cap’s Inn remains our favorite rental property. You simply cannot beat the comfort, convenience, immaculate grounds, and secluded location. We can’t wait to return to our “Placencia home”.

Quiet peaceful retreat

We stayed for a week and found this was the best of both worlds: in a short walk we could be on main street and the beach, or stay private on the little island reached only by skiff. We recommend snorkeling Silk Caye and Laughingbird Caye with Go N Sea Belize, right at the pier. Stefano welcomed us like family and gave us lots of good information. Meeting Mike and being able to swim at the pool next door is a big plus. You have a wonderful retreat in Belize!

Chillin in the palms

If you like being in the tropics and being surrounded by palm trees , birds, and iguanas; then you'll love hanging out on the huge wrap around deck at the back house at Caps Inn. Being on the second story puts you right at eye level looking into the palm trees where you will see a vast array of colorful and melodic birds, and a lazy iguana from time to time. A very peaceful and serene setting to enjoy the wonderful weather.

My wife and I just spent two weeks there and it was perfect for us. From the moment you get off the skiff you begin to see the beautifully landscaped grounds of Caps Inn. A big variety of colorful and fragrant tropical plants that immediately begin to have a relaxing effect on your senses. If you're anything like us you will spend most all of your time hanging outside on the deck; there's almost always a nice Carribean breeze to keep you cool. If it does get too hot then just walk next door to the Sailfish Resort and take advantage of their amazing pool and swim up bar at no extra cost. It's very clean and refreshing and Mike and Jen will be your gracious hosts.

One thing I need to point out is that you are on an island so anytime you want to go to town you have to paddle about 50yds across the canal in the skiff provided. It didn't bother us any and in fact added a little excitement to our stay. It could be challenging if you have mobility issues, otherwise it's just part of the ambivalence.

If you like to fish or snorkel or both make sure to hook up with Alfred or Ian and you will have a blast. Went out 3 times with Ian and caught some really yummy fish which we cooked up on the charcoal grill provided. We used the grill a lot and cooked up some jack fish, mackerel, Bonita, barracuda and lobster tails. What a taste treat and seafood delight!!!

As far as the town goes: a short walk, not too touristy or overcrowded, friendly people, great beaches, and some fantastic food. We actually preferred some of the real small mom and pop places to eat because of their authentic dishes and reasonable prices. We always felt safe and never threatened, a very friendly town.

The last thing I want to mention is how nice the owners, Susan and JB were to us and it was refreshing to see that they are just down to earth people who like to have fun. They're friends, Chuck and Ellen, and Jim and Bard, were equally kind and it was great meeting the whole bunch.

Thanx so much to all of them and hopefully we will see them again on our next visit.
