About the property

Studio. Second story with first floor for laundry and owner storage.

Unit with the first story as storage and laundry facilities only, so plenty of privacy. Surrounding grounds are landscaped with a verity of tropical plants. The property is located on an island but within 5 minute stroll to the village. Near all the nightlife/restaurants /shopping/etc. the village has to offer. Just a few paddle/oar strokes across an 80 ft protected canal brings you across to the mainland. Personal skiff provided of course. While the vast majority of our guests have had no problems with moving across the canal, it does require a minimal amount of exertion and balance. If there is any question of your physical abilities, please consider this before booking. Read our reviews in this regard. Feel free to contact us with any questions you might have if there are concerns. Our property manager will assist with you luggage when you occupy and leave our home.

There is a 10ft wide veranda spanning the side and rear to the property. The rear veranda allows beautiful view of Placencia lagoon with Maya Mountains in the background. This unit has whisper quiet, split unit, whole living space air conditioning. Queen bed and a fully stocked kitchen with all appliances/utensils etc. needed to prepare your catch of the day or to take advantage of all the fresh fruits and vegetables the village has to offer. WiFi internet and cable TV included as well. Laundry facilities available. Perfect launch point for all related water activities. You can be picked up by boat after 30 steps or so to the front dock. Car not necessary but parking located on mainland across canal directly across from property. Landing/ loading dock on mainland side. Fishing available off the dock.

If sailing and need a little shore time, 80 ft of dock available, along with power and water for extra fee. Deep water dock. Fuel services etc. available a short distance up the canal which fronts our property.

Live and work in Northern Idaho. Our Honeymoon was in Placencia. We fell in love with Belize and Placencia in particular. 20 years later and through a near complete destruction by hurricane, we continue to feel we have one the best locations in Placencia, if not all of Belize. We are avid Scuba/fishing people and we spend every minute of every vacation in Belize and have been doing so since before building our home there

We stayed 4 nights at Cap's Inn. The place is cozy and quiet. The property next door has a pool and bar that can be utilized for an evening sip N' dip. The A/C is great for sleeping, especially when you are not aclimated to high hunidity. Stefano the property manager is very helpful. Making sure to start out on the right foot.

A lovely getaway!

The home was lovely - all that we expected. Stefano was charming, responsive and most helpful in greeting us and seeing us off, the Sailfish neighbors were great - pool refreshing, and swim up bar both quiet and convenient. Skiff was easy to maneuver and added to the fun, and laundry facilities were a boon to our stay. (Your luggage is taken to/from on a motorized launch, so no worries there.) House and yard/surroundings were clean and well maintained, and the walk to town was easy, charming and safe at all hours we travelled it. The kitchen was the best equipped and appointed of the places we stayed in in Belize. Basically, a charming spot that matched what was advertised. Stefano provided great restaurant tips and a nice map, viva Italia!

Absolute gem in an amazing location. This property was the best part of an amazing trip!

My wife and I spent five blissful weeks at Cap's Inn, and we can't say enough nice things about it. The sound of palms fronds rustling in the constant breeze, waking to the calls of tropical birds every morning, enjoying brilliant sunsets, relaxing on the wrap-around balcony, and cooling off in pool at the neighboring SailFish Resort. We loved watching day turn into night as the boats passed by in the canal, walking to town past palms and iguanas, and paddleboarding out into the mangroves. We never felt far from anything, but the seclusion provided by the waterway provided privacy and peace of mind.

The owners gave us plenty of advice and recommendations. They clearly love Placencia and find joy in sharing their home there. When I reported that I had bent one of the skiff paddles, a neighbor of theirs brought us a spare one within the hour. They even had Alfred, a local fishing guide, come by and tell us about local activities (absolutely go fishing with Alfred.You'll have more than enough fresh fish to last your entire stay. We loved grilling it on the bbq smoker.)

The property manager, Stefano, was also terrific – promptly responding to any minor problem with a smile and a story. On our first day, he drew us a hand-labeled map of the area. We'll always remember his never-ending collection of hilarious Italian expressions.

The grounds were immaculate (the sand was raked clean every few days.) The apartment's kitchen was stocked with lots of pots, pans, and utensils, so that we never felt limited when we cooked dinner. My one concern had been the bed, but it was tucked in-between four windows, and had very soft, light bedding. A constant breeze meant that we only needed to use the air-conditioner once the entire trip (due to sunburn). All the appliances in the apartment were high-quality and in good condition. The shower was nice and clean. The water heater worked well, but we never used it, preferring cool showers. There were extra towels, bed linens, and beach towels.

But the absolute star of this property is the wrap-around balcony. The pictures in the listing don't do it justice. I would work on my computer on a large desk on the deck while my wife read books and did yoga. We loved to sit outside every evening, enjoying a drink and reviewing our day.

In Placencia, Cap's Inn will always be our special place. We miss our time there already. Cap's Inn was such a central part of our amazing trip, and we'll never forget it.

Beautifully lush and peaceful - but near everything!

I just spent three lovely months calling the studio at Cap's Inn 'home'. The studio was perfect for me - clean, full kitchen, wifi and air-conditioning for those early days adjusting to the climate. The deck was my favorite place to hang out - overlooking the lush, colorful surroundings, watching and hearing local birds and the huge, but harmless iguanas. My favorite part on staying on the canal was paddling (gondola style) across the canal in the super skiff! And it was easy to take my bike across to the mainland to visit in the village for the beach, restaurants, groceries, coffee and to hang out with friends. The walk and bike ride to the village was a quick - and I always felt safe alone.

It was very private and peaceful when I needed to do some work. I enjoyed the solitude. There were a few guests in the 'big house' during my stay - but I hardly noticed them - except when we visited and shared garbage drop off on the other side. And the Sailfish resort next door was a huge benefit - especially during the early rainy days. Would walk over for enlightening chats and a few drinks with travelers from all over the world - sharing stories and tips.

The rare moments when I needed assistance from the management and care-takers were greeted with immediate attention. They were all so kind and helpful. The owners were also gracious - keeping in touch via email to check in on my stay - and if I needed anything.

I would definitely stay here again! I'm even thinking of renting the 'big house' for a family visit in the future.

Super place to stay!!!

Great experience, safe, convenient, fun! Myself and 2 other women (ranging in age from 28 to 40) were traveling solo and felt very safe at the property. Rowing the little skiff across the canal was super easy and entertaining. The screened in porch was perfect for morning yoga, coffee and meals. Walks from the dock/property to Placencia village were a nice way to start and end the days, and again we always felt safe. I can’t wait to go back someday soon! I definitely recommend staying here.

The property is newly remodeled with quiet, split unit, whole living space, air conditioning. Well equipped kitchen. Large deck across entire side and rear of unit allows for additional living/ dinning space. One Queen bed. Futon in living area allows for more sleeping arrangements. New screened/double hung tinted windows/ceiling fans and task lighting over food prep area.

The unit is second story which allows good access to cooling breeze. Storage units and laundry only on first floor so you are the only resident for the entire building. Grounds landscaped with tropical plants. Available as short term or long term rental.
