About Theresa King

I'm a polo player, fox hunter and former DC investment banker. I live on a private horse farm I created myself from a raw cornfield. I'm a huge animal lover. The farm is home to my pot bellied pig named Flower, 4 dogs, various barn cats and usually anywhere from 6-25 horses, and numerous chickens. I run a little cottage business called (website hidden) and I create various products from recycled plastic feed bags. Come enjoy my private setting and bring a horse or two if need be. Just ask about stabling!

Theresa King purchased this house in 2005

What makes this house unique

Take a stroll around my beautiful gravel path vegetable garden. Rub the belly and feed Flower my pet Pot bellied pig. Gather eggs from my chickens if you fancy! Pet the horses!

Gem of a Property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 3 nights and this really is a gem of a property. The owner, Theresa, has thought of everything in terms of details - there is storage, quality furniture and kitchen items, and even fresh eggs from her hens. The place feels bigger than it is because of the outdoor space around it - an outdoor dining room and living room, the pool, and beautiful surroundings. There are windows everywhere in this house, with tons of light and views. There are several animals on this farm, each with their own unique personality. We loved all the dogs, especially Thelma, Poncho and Jake. Flower the pig was exciting for my kids, and watching the horses was a daily treat. A huge positive was the first day when Theresa took my kids to help feed the animals and search for eggs. They loved the freedom to roam the farm and explore. Theresa was very responsive to anything we needed during our stay (the batteries died on the controller for the pool light and she quickly replaced them). We originally came to watch the eclipse thinking this would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. The eclipse was great, but even more we found a place we'd love to return to again. This is a really unique experience in a beautiful and peaceful setting.

Breathtaking views

  • 5 of 5

The farm was simply beautiful. The house was so cute and perfect in size. My husband and I enjoyed the privacy of our own "tiny house", pool, and fire place. The weather couldn't of been more perfect for our weekend get away. The horses on the farm were great to watch and even allowed me to pet them a few times. I also fell in love with Oscar and Thelma(hopefully I got the dogs names correct). If you ever want to get rid of them, call me. :) Thanks for sharing your farm and we will be back!!!

Absolutely perfect stay, im already planning on a return visit!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to get away from our hectic schedule and unwind and Theresa's guest house was perfect. Everything from the immaculate, well appointed guest house to the pool which is just steps away from your front door, we were able to unwind and reconnect in a way that truly made the vacation memorable. I highly recommend contacting Theresa and visiting her beautiful horse farm, it's like being at home but much better.

Absolutely unbeatable vacation spot!!

  • 5 of 5

I can't cover all the awesomeness of this property in the 2490 characters vrbo allows in a review. This was one of the very best vacations our family of three (plus small dog) have EVER taken. The home is immaculate, the pool and outdoor space is nothing short of amazing (and y'all, this pool is not just an average pool / tons of upgraded features to cater to every preference), the views/location are spectacular and even though you are outside of town, you are only a few miles from Aiken's charming downtown filled with restaurants, shops and *rich* history. All of that is terrific but Theresa and company (her precious team of animals) really make this a special place. Thelma, Poncho, Jake, Ditch, Daisy and Oscar were our greeters and protectors (Thelma and Poncho especially). The beautiful horses invoke a peace into your soul while you sit by/in the pool and soak up the sun. Although the owner is close by, she is not obtrusive at all and you don't even realize she is there. She was gracious enough to allow our 5yo to help gather eggs and feed the animals (including Flower, the pot bellied pig). The house comfortably accommodated our family of 3 (small child), but isn't really designed for anything much larger. The house was constructed on the 'tiny house' concept and every inch is maximized with clever storage options and optimized space utilization. The kitchen is well appointed and has plenty of space for cooking meals and enjoying them either at the bar or outside on the VERY nice outdoor furniture (including terrific chaise lounges around the pool). Pool towels are provided, and there is extra bedding if the downstairs pullout is used. Bluetooth connection is available for the outdoor/indoor sound system so you can listen to your music (or the radio) while enjoying the pool. The owner has truly thought of everything! We literally just left today (7.20), and I am writing this review from the car so folks can start planning their own trip - we are already discussing a return! Do yourself a favor and branch out from the usual beach or mountain vacation and plan a trip to LIGARA Farm where you can experience this place / you will not be disappointed!! The ONLY disappointment will be when you checkout and leave Theresa and the animals (especially Thelma, in our case) in the rear view mirror.

We loved staying here! The property is beautiful, the house was perfect and the pool was so relaxing! Thelma, the poolhouse dog was the sweetest and we loved having her around. The house had everything we needed and it was truly the perfect oasis. We plan on returning very soon!

We were in aiken to deal with a family emergency and this retreat was well needed during the down time. A peaceful setting and the owner was a delight to work with.
