Ski trip

  • 5 of 5

Steve was very accommodating and the cabin is beautiful about 10 minutes from peak9, make sure you rent or have a 4x4 in the winter as the upper part of the road will be slippery, we had a party of 6 and we all were very comfy.

Amazing house in a great place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here and found everything we wanted. The house was cozy and quite. Everything you could need or want is not far away. I would gladly stay here again.

Second stay at Moose House - loved it.

  • 5 of 5

Moose house is great. My wife and I stayed last January and we returned for a week before Christmas with the whole family. We're XC skiiers so this is a XC skiing heaven - skiing right out the door. I was concerned that there wouldn't be enough snow since there had been a dearth recently but old man winter delivered while were were there with plenty of the white stuff. Moose house has a cozy kitchen with a woodstove for coldest days, but individual thermostats in nearly every room means you can keep rooms warmer or cooler as you prefer. TV's in several rooms, internet OK. The cabin is about a 10-15 minute ride from town, with 4-wheel drive pretty necessary in winter. If you like being nestled in the woods, having a great sledding hill and XC ski trails (or hiking when snow is gone) out the back door this is the place.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

The property was perfect! Secluded, quiet with fun trails to explore behind the house. The beds were comfortable and the house was roomy and the perfect size for the six of us. I would definitely return to this cabin in the woods. It is close to many small towns in the area, making for a fun stay visiting the various quaint shops.

My only complaint is the highly perfumed laundry detergent/softener used to launder the sheets and towels. I suggest the owner use non scented for those who are sensitive to perfumes.

The Moose House was awesome. We came specifically for cross-country skiing and literally skiied out the back door. We looked at several other comparable cabins but this seemed the best for what we were looking for and didn't disappoint. The Peak's Trail is a short walk from the cabin and provided us with long beautiful skiing days. It was also convenient to other XC ski areas like Breckenridge Nordic Center and Boreas Pass. When (not if!) we come back again we'll bring the teenagers who will likely want to ski in the several nearby downhill resorts. Downstairs the cabin sleeps two but upstairs there's one private room that sleeps two and then then lots of options that could sleep quite a few people in the other rooms. The cabin is in great shape, stays warm with or without fireplaces/woodstove, beds and pillows very comfortable. The location is up a long steep road so hard to imagine making the trip without 4 wheel drive or all-wheel drive in the winter months. It's worth the trek. You'll feel like you are up in the wilderness but still have a few friendly neighbors in case a moose decides to crash your party and you need backup. Owners were helpful through the whole process as well. Looking forward to coming back as soon as we can.
