Dew and Juan were incredible. Extremely responsive and able to help coordinate transportation whenever needed to the ruins or for a pizza run. Their attentiveness really made our stay special. This home is secluded away in a private gated community with a beautiful fenced in back yard that had a terrific variety of flowers blooming while we were there. While laundry facilities on property were not available to us - a laundry service was available to do your laundry at a very affordable rate. The home is extremely bright during the day yet be prepared for the cooler temperatures at night (high elevation). We found it necessary to have a fire each night in the fireplace with the tile floors and cooler evenings which requires the purchase of additional wood. One aspect of our stay which I will not soon forget was the view of the flowering bushes in the backyard and mountains behind them from the open window in the shower!
In summary, the home presents in person just like it does in the photo's. There is a nice restaurant right next door and in town you must visit Paca Paca's! Check out the restaurant at the five star resort as well if you feel like splurging one of the nights you are in town.
Recently, my girlfriend and I stayed at John and Dew's Valley and Life Cottages. This gated community was wonderful, and their hospitality was above and beyond anything we expected. The cottage we stayed in was lovely, and the location in Urubamba provided us with great access to many of the marvelous nearby wonders, including Machu Picchu. The house could've slept a small army, but the two of us were exceeding comfortable. The community manager went out of her way numerous times to accommodate us, even to the extent of putting a fire on for us in the fireplace after we had a long day at Machu Picchu. Everyone at Valley and Life Cottages made our trip amazing, especially since our Spanish was limited to "hello, goodbye, and Wednesday". We couldn't have asked for more perfect hosts and would definitely recommend their cottages to anyone looking to stay in the Sacred Valley!
We had the pleasure of spending 10 days at the cottage. It was secure, spacious and the grounds were lovely. The staff was amazing. Well situated and easy for us to walk to all amenities. We would recommend to anyone travelling to the Valley.
Breath taking, with the magestic Andes towering above the gardens and homes. Very quiet, clean, spacious and comfortable accomidations. Beds are comfortable with nice linens.
I really can't say enough about the hostesses. They arranged transportation and guides for us at reasonable prices. When I fell sick, they were so kind and helpful obtaining medicine and making tea, and checking on me.
This was a lovely cottage with wonderful staff. The cottage is clean and comfortable in a quiet and pretty setting, and an easy walk into the town for restaurants and supplies. The managers and staff of the property were extremely attentive and responsive. The first evening I felt sick with altitude sickness and they arranged for me to go to a clinic and came with me to translate. They helped arranged taxis and guides. There are no heaters in the cottage (just a fireplace in the living room) but heavy blankets kept us warm at night. Urubamba was a nice base to explore the Sacred Valley and less touristy than Ollantaytambo. Don't miss Ceramica Seminario in Urubamba if you have any interest in pottery.
We stayed at La Florida Condos for 3 nights and had a great stay. Everything was perfect, from the fresh flowers in all the rooms, to the care the owners have about the environment, to the dog in the yard (we already miss Kinto). We were made to feel at home and the owners were very helpful in what to do and how to get around. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again if I come back to Peru.
