Guavaberry Cottage was just right for us. The description posted was exactly what we wanted for our brief stay on Tortola before starting our sailing charter. We did not rent a car, but Rebecca (absolutely charming!) arranged for our pick up at West End ferry and she dropped us off at the marina for our charter.

We bought some groceries for our 2 night stay for those meals we would not eat out. Several restaurants are within walking distance. Sebastian's and d'coalpot are just "down the hill". If you want to walk the hill, it is steep, but relatively a short distance before getting on level ground. Going uphill you will want to rest a couple of times. (we are in mid-60s) if that is any measure. We also walked to smuggler's cove ( 30 min)which is a great beach!!

The view is superb, just like the pictures. No surprises here. It is very comfortable to read on deck and just admire everything. A couple 4-legged friends come by to check on you, so say hello and pet "Cookie". ( ps...Don't tell Rebecca we gave her some treats.) The bedroom is air-conditioned if you desire.

Next time we come we will reserve Guavaberry Cottage before AND after our sailing adventure so we can savor our visit to the BVI and place less stress on long travel.

sweetest cottage on very steep hill

  • 5 of 5

Once we got up to Rebecca's cottage we were thrilled!! We always look for a place that has reading lights on both sides of the bed and very little fluff or strange (to us) decorations. This cottage fit the bill. After spending three weeks down IN the water (sailing and kayaking) we loved being above it all. The view is as seen - stunning - and it's a short walk down the hill to restaurants and the beach. Enjoyed watching wind surfers and sail boats come and go. Just remember what walks down must walk up. We initially thought we'd rent a car, learned that it's difficult to get a 4x4 and decided not to. So we walked or hitched a ride. Rebecca had several gallons of water, cold beer, tonic water and seltzer water waiting for us in the refrigerator. When leaving the taxi driver (arranged for us by Rebecca) came early because rain was in the forecast and he knew he had to get up the hill BEFORE it came. And we were ready to go and since we had time he gave us a talking tour of the island on the way to the airport. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Perched over Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a lovely stay at this cottage. Cozy with all the fresh ocean air and views we expected. The location was really convenient to the beaches and restaurants. Also we liked driving to the west end for shopping. There is a small grocery store there and the house has all the utensils you need for cooking. Rebecca the property manager is a great host with all the local knowledge. She was very prompt to meet us and show us the rental. The house is very well kept and spotless clean on arrival. Some of our fondest memories are from the simplicity of the home. The WIFI is there to keep you in touch, but not having a TV was wonderful. Instead of watching the news or sports we went on island time. Little things like coffee from the french press and fresh fruit from the locals at the bottom of the hill were perfect touches. Some of our favorite things are Smugglers Cove a sandy beach with palm trees (close by). Our favorite dining spots are: Da Coal Pot and Tropical Fusion both very close by. Also a must is sunset cocktails and dinner at Bananakeet Cafe as well as dancing at Quito's. Quito is an amazing Reggae artist and the boys put on a great show, be ready to dance to the jams! We always rent a 4-wheel drive from Denzel Cline they are very nice. Tortola is a hidden gem, remember to have fun and respect the Island leave your busy life in the city.

Wonderful, romantic cottage for two!

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I had a wonderful time staying at Guavaberry. It is perfect for two people. The kitchen was well equipped for meals and we also used the grill provided, which was nice. Rebecca was very good with responding to emails and questions ahead of our arrival and during our stay. And as everyone else has written, Cookie, our "loaner" dog for the week was a joy to see every day. Having coffee and cocktails on the deck with the amazing view was certainly the highlight for me each morning and evening staying there. We chose Tortola because it had a lot of ferries going to other islands, which we did for day trips. If you have the chance, take a ferry to Anagada for the day and rent a scooter to drive around the island. It's flat and fun to ride around and the beaches are beautiful. On Tortola, we enjoyed Smuggler's Cove as it was small and quiet. My partner brushed up against a sea urchin (luckily he was ok!) so be careful where you are swimming! Also, bring bug spray as there are mosquitoes, some of which carry various viruses, so be diligent with spraying yourself. If we ever get back to Tortola, we will surely come back to Guavaberry Cottage. Thanks, Rebecca!

The perfect little cottage with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

Thanks very much to Rebecca and Cookie (and Cookie's playmates) for making our stay on Tortola one to remember. This coastal cottage is well-appointed with everything that two people could need to enjoy the tranquility and uniqueness of this wonderful island. I would highly recommend this cottage for two people looking for a charming place to stay while visiting Tortola. It's location is quite convenient to just about everything! It's close to the market, Soper's Hole, Smugglers Cove, and all of the restaurants and beaches that overlook the beautiful shorelines. But THE VIEWS - Oh my gosh - I just can't say enough about the views that this location offers! It was so wonderful to come home each day to the breathtaking views of this cottage, and equally as magnificent to wake up to them! If you are looking for simple charm, this is your place! Navigating the roads and the driveways on the island, including the one up to the cottage were definitely experiences to remember. Loved that Cookie and friends lovingly greeted us at the car every single day the moment we pulled into the drive! Rebecca is so helpful and made herself available all the times we had questions before and during the trip, as well as when we had the misfortune of flight delays prior to our arrival. My husband and I both agreed that we were very fortunate to have Guavaberry Cottage as our home away from home while visiting Tortola.
