Wonderful, romantic cottage for two!

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I had a wonderful time staying at Guavaberry. It is perfect for two people. The kitchen was well equipped for meals and we also used the grill provided, which was nice. Rebecca was very good with responding to emails and questions ahead of our arrival and during our stay. And as everyone else has written, Cookie, our "loaner" dog for the week was a joy to see every day. Having coffee and cocktails on the deck with the amazing view was certainly the highlight for me each morning and evening staying there. We chose Tortola because it had a lot of ferries going to other islands, which we did for day trips. If you have the chance, take a ferry to Anagada for the day and rent a scooter to drive around the island. It's flat and fun to ride around and the beaches are beautiful. On Tortola, we enjoyed Smuggler's Cove as it was small and quiet. My partner brushed up against a sea urchin (luckily he was ok!) so be careful where you are swimming! Also, bring bug spray as there are mosquitoes, some of which carry various viruses, so be diligent with spraying yourself. If we ever get back to Tortola, we will surely come back to Guavaberry Cottage. Thanks, Rebecca!

The perfect little cottage with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

Thanks very much to Rebecca and Cookie (and Cookie's playmates) for making our stay on Tortola one to remember. This coastal cottage is well-appointed with everything that two people could need to enjoy the tranquility and uniqueness of this wonderful island. I would highly recommend this cottage for two people looking for a charming place to stay while visiting Tortola. It's location is quite convenient to just about everything! It's close to the market, Soper's Hole, Smugglers Cove, and all of the restaurants and beaches that overlook the beautiful shorelines. But THE VIEWS - Oh my gosh - I just can't say enough about the views that this location offers! It was so wonderful to come home each day to the breathtaking views of this cottage, and equally as magnificent to wake up to them! If you are looking for simple charm, this is your place! Navigating the roads and the driveways on the island, including the one up to the cottage were definitely experiences to remember. Loved that Cookie and friends lovingly greeted us at the car every single day the moment we pulled into the drive! Rebecca is so helpful and made herself available all the times we had questions before and during the trip, as well as when we had the misfortune of flight delays prior to our arrival. My husband and I both agreed that we were very fortunate to have Guavaberry Cottage as our home away from home while visiting Tortola.

Perfect cottage for us!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Guavaberry Cottage and our stay could'nt have been more enjoyable. Upon arrival we had no problems communicating with Rebecca and getting to the cottage was a breeze. Rebecca was and an excellent resource for island info. Cookie was just that - a treat!! The cottage sits next to the parking pad and its only a couple steps up to the wraparound porch. The porch provides beautiful views of Apple Bay all the way out to Jost Van Dyke. We especially enjoyed it in the evenings for sunset cocktails.

The cottage itself provided everything we needed but also a lot of the helpful little things like condiments, teas, spices and rum!! The kitchen is perfectly equipped to cook a meal and there is even a grill on the porch. We decided to skip the cooking and treated ourselves to some of the local restaurants. The living room/ dining area provides plenty of space to sit and eat a meal or just kick back on the sofa and enjoy the view. Thankfully there is no television which made for some nice candlelit evenings on the porch looking at the stars. The wifi worked great and kept us in touch with the outside world when needed. The bedroom was a decent size with a closet to hang your clothes. It also has air conditioning and a ceiling fan which can cool the room down in seconds.

I suggest renting a 4WD as it will not only let you navigate the driveway with ease but allow you to get to some of the more remote spots on the island. The cottage is convenient to several hot spots on the island, a few within walking distance. We enjoyed a couple meals at Sebastians down the road and having a cocktail at the Bomba Shack is a necessity. A 10 drive/taxi can get you over the hill to Frenchmans Cay for shopping and Pussers Landing. I recommend utilizing the 4WD so hang a left at the end of the driveway and head to Smugglers Cove. Its a fun drive and the beach there is well worth it. Great snorkeling, white sand and even a local beach bar. For a fancy meal nearby you have several options - Long Bay, Sebastians or the Sugar Mill.

We cannot recommend the Guavaberry Cottage more highly. It might not be for everyone but it was perfect cottage for us!!!

A Tortola Treasure Trove!

  • 5 of 5

The view of Apple Bay from the Guavaberry Cottage was simply breathtaking! This included the vivid colours of the sunrises and sunsets which were easily seen from the cottage porch. Rebecca, the owner, was very personable and helpful in ensuring that we had a pleasant stay. Our cottage was spotless and well-equipped. We would highly recommend it to family and friends. In fact, we would not hesitate to rent from Rebecca again should our travels bring us back to Tortola. The beaches on the North Shore are pristine and a visit to the BananaKeet Bar & Restaurant to see stunning sunsets is a must! Tortola has many points of interest and is easy to find your way even though you drive on the left. We highly recommend renting a Jeep or similar vehicle to enhance your driving experience.

Rebecca also rents the Turtle Dove House which is larger than the Guavaberry Cottage. It is beautiful with a view of both Apple and Long Bays and, hopefully, will be our Tortola home next time.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned home from our stay at the Guavaberry Cottage and felt compelled to write about how awesome it was! The location was great - close to the best beaches on the island (in our opinion): Long Beach, Smugglers, and the surfing spot on Apple Bay. We also enjoyed the proximity to Soper's Hole for groceries, restaurants (D' Best Cup is D best!) and for taking in the sights of amazing boats. The cottage was well appointed, comfortable, and clean. The views were breathtaking and very relaxing. We rented a 4WD vehicle which we felt was essential for traveling up and down the very steep driveway and around the island...the roads are crazy, but thrilling!! Rebecca was a friendly and accommodating hostess...she really made us feel at home. Our whole family fell in love with Cookie, Rebecca's adorable little dog. We had the very best vacation at this cottage and we definitely plan to return! Thanks again, Rebecca!
