About Mike Constable
We moved from Scotland to Puglia in 2007, having enjoyed many wonderful holidays in Italy in previous years. We particularly enjoyed our time in Puglia and made the decision to move out here permanently. To us, Puglia is a unique region with so much to see and enjoy from the stunning beaches, crystal clear seas, to historic architecture, up and coming boutique wineries, and restaurants serving fresh local produce. There is something for everybody. We look forward to welcoming you to our villa which we have developed over our years here and to sharing our enthusiasm for this region.

Fantastic villa, great base for exploring southern Puglia
Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 infants) had a wonderful stay at the villa in late September 2019.
The villa is laid out perfectly, with large bedrooms and a great kitchen (with an abundance of equipment!) and living area.
The welcome hamper was really useful and esnured we didn't need to rush out on day 1 for supplies.
We loved the outside space, there's a lovely terrace at the back of the house from which you can admire the Puglian sunsets, as well as shaded area by the pool to escape from the heat of the day. The pool is a good size, clean and inviting with ample sun loungers for all.
The local town, Oria, is quite basic, it does has some medieval sites and a nice small central square ( i recommend the coffee and gelato at Gelateria Kenya!), we found that many of the restaurants and local shops were predominantly closed during our stay.
The coast is only 30 minutes away and Mike have us some great recommendations on beaches to visit.
Ostuni is also a short drive and is a lovely morning or afternoon out.
For those wondering about mosquitoes, it's the middle of the Italian countryside, there are of course biting insects, but if you use repellent, citronella candles and the plug-in deterrents you won't have too much trouble!
Thank you for your kind review. We are happy that you found the Villa well laid out and equipped and that you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry you found the shops and restaurants closed when you visited Oria. Shops do tend to close between 1.00 and 5.00 pm like most southern Italian towns, also restaurants do close one or two days a week but not being a predominantly tourist economy they are open all year round. We are always happy to advise on opening hours. Thank you again for choosing Villa Belfiore.
Everything you could want for a relaxing holiday
6 of us stayed here for 10 days and we wish it had been longer . Plenty of space for us all .
Fantasic pool area.
Great hosts - always available if you needed help .
You definitely will need to have a car if you stay here - especially to visit the beautiful beaches.
Will hope to stay here again in the future .
Thanks Mike and Annette for everything
Oria villa paradise
Annette and Mike are so discrete and attentive.
Wonderful Country Villa
Wonderful well equipped villa set in countryside 10 mins by car from Oria surrounded by olive trees. Outdoor space is fabulous as is the pool - as good as it gets. Owner was helpful and friendly prior to arrival with various queries and was always on hand if needed. Owner also kindly provided a few welcome items - much appreciated and had loads of brochures on local area - maybe, a visitors book would be good as well for the future. all in all we loved the week we had so thank you very much.
We're delighted you enjoyed your holiday and particularly the outdoor space. It was a labour of love to create the pool and garden and it gives us so much satisfaction when others appreciate and enjoy it! The visitor book is an excellent suggestion and will be in place shortly. Thank you for your review.
Beautiful villa in the heart of the Puglia countryside
Had a fantastic break with Mike and Annette being great hosts and providing help when needed
We're glad you had a fantastic break. Thanks so much for your review.
Wonderful villa with beautiful garden set in pretty countryside near Oria
We really landed on our feet booking this villa! The house is spacious with 3 good-sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The kitchen is well-equipped, and there was also another cooker outside which was really appreciated as it was hot during our stay and it meant we could cook on the cooler side veranda. There is a lovely BBQ area so we barbequed most days and ate outside on the pretty covered rear veranda. Even the pool area has a gazebo with table and chairs (and loo!) to retreat to when it's too hot. The lavender-lined pathway to the pool and indeed the whole garden is really beautiful.
Mike and Annette could not have been more helpful. Our flight arrived late so they kindly waited up for us to arrive which we really appreciated. Keen cyclists themselves, they took us out on several rides which was brilliant as they were able to show us roads and tracks we would never have found ourselves. Their recommendations for places to visit, where to shop etc were spot on. The villa is well placed for exploring this area - we visited the beach at Campo Marino as well as the towns of Lecce, Alberobello and Ostuni. Great mix of relaxation and exploring.
Thank you so much for your complimentary comments. We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay in the villa and the surrounding area. It was a real pleasure for us to share and enjoy some cycle rides (and coffee stops!) together. There are so many more lovely lanes and places to exlore so you’ll just have to come back some time!
Villa Belfiore is 5 km (7 mins by car) from the delightful, historic town of Oria with its cobbled streets, wonderful restaurants, bars and a vibrant market. It has everything you'll need from banks, post office, chemists, supermarkets, doctors, bars/cafes/restaurants. This charming medieval town has history around every corner, with its 13th century castle and palace, colourful dome-topped Basilica, a Jewish quarter dating back to 500AD and many churches. Oria is less 'discovered' than many other parts of Puglia and as such remains more Italian and less expensive than many other areas. The restaurants are fantastic and very reasonable. In the summer months Oria and most other towns offer entertainment programmes including music, food, wine and beer frestivals. The Medieval games in Oria every August is an event not to be missed!
The Villa is conveniently located between the Adriatic coast and the Ionian coast, each 30 mins away. Both have fabulous sandy, white beaches. The beaches are suitable for children, particularly San Pietro with its gently shelving beach. The villa is also ideally placed for exploring the wonderful towns and cities northwards: such as Alberobello with its famous "trulli", and the "White city" of Ostuni; as well as the beautiful towns and cities further south: such as Lecce (known for its baroque architecture), Otranto, Gallipoli and the beautiful Santa Maria de Leuca down at the very heel of Puglia.
Puglia is well known for its fresh Mediterranean produce, amazing olive oil, fruit, vegetables and pasta, as well as incredible meat inland and delicious seafood on the coast. In fact, Puglia is known as the "bread basket" of Italy, specialising in the production of food, whether as growers, 'catchers' or manufacturers.
The wine is delicious with many cantinas now producing wines exported across the world. The local varieties of primitivo and negromaro are the most famous but there are also many others to be savoured. The quality of Puglian wine and oil is now amongst the highest in Italy but prices are still very reasonable.
Puglia is famous for its unique conical trulli buildings and magnificent Masserias - fortified farmhouses. However, it is largely undiscovered by the rest of the world. If you want to experience the true Italy at its best then you are in the right place!
We provide a detailed information pack for our guests, full of recommendations of our favourite local restaurants, local market days, the best local beaches and lots of activities for children, for example the safari theme park in Fassanoland and the nearby water park of Carrisland.
