We stayed at "La Abuela" for about 4 weeks in March-April 2018 and had a great time. Juan met us in the village centre and showed us around the house - as others have said he was a good host, he left a bottle of his own olive oil, some fresh bread from the shop and a bottle of excellent wine as a welcome present, and responded quickly if we needed some advice or help. You CAN drive a car up the lane to the house, but you need to be very awareof the width of your car and good on the clutch as it is steep and narrow - we drove up to unload the luggage but after that left the car in "Blas Infante" and walked to the house. The house is on multiple levels and there are several different patios/balconies to choose from, depending on time of day and the desire to be in or out of the sun! It is a peaceful sanctuary amidst stunning and dramatic scenery of the Serrania de Ronda, and Igualeja is a hillside Pueblo blanco at the very start of the Rio Genal. If you want a taste of real rural Andalusia, you could do no better - but learn a bit of Spanish before you arrive! The "shop" is 10 metres away, opens at all sorts of interesting times, sells all sorts of unexpected items, and the people there are a delight (even if you speak very little Spanish). There are several bars around the village serving tapas and beer/wine - take your pick. A great place for walking, wildlife, and if more adventurous, sailing on the coast (try Estepona), paragliding (try Algodonales) and on/off road cycling. Beautiful Ronda is only 25 mins away, and we also visited Granada, Sevilla and Cordoba, all of which are day trips.
