A very enjoyable week at this spacious and well-equipped villa/apartment, which is part of a converted chateau housing approx 10 residences, a large shared swimming pool and a tennis court. Worked very well for our family of 2 adults, 2 children.
It is located a short drive from the town of Lorgues with good restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, etc. Lots of vineyards nearby. Activities for kids included wild swimming and parkour (zip lines, treetop climbing, etc.) nearby, large lake with pedalos, etc. about an hour’s drive away and beaches at a similar distance.
Excellent information pack provided by the property owners prior to arrival.
Would recommend it highly.
Chateau de mappe is the perfect spot for a holiday: beautiful place, very nice environment, we met only kind people, felt respect and enjoyed the quietness, … this was the best formula we experienced until now. You can enjoy privacy as much as you want but you can have a little chat with other guests if you want to. The pool is amazing, the tennis court is great. All the luxury you need but everything is developed with style, good taste and authenticity. Never too much, but just perfect. In balance with nature and people. We would definitely go back… and maybe better not promote this spot too much ;)) Thanks Sara and Sasha! Your home is fabulous!

We had a lovely stay in Chateau du Mappe as part of a three week road trip around France. Suitable for families, the chateau was more beautiful than the pictures show, and compromised of 9 ‘apartments’ (even though they’re bigger than a general apartment and situated over two floors, which was great).
Our apartment compromised of a private patio/dining area outside, with a large living and kitchen space on the ground floor with a downstairs toilet. Following this, there are three spacious bedrooms upstairs, each with their own bathroom. The only negative about this was that only one bathroom has a complete walk-in shower - the others having just a bath and shower head, which could be a struggle when 6 people want to wash and get ready in the mornings. Despite saying this, it caused no hassle for us in our stay. The property was generally clean, apart from the odd cobweb here and there that hadn’t been dusted. We did also have an issue with ants during our time at the chateau, as they were coming inside and crawling over the side. After speaking to other residents, it had appeared that this was only a recent issue that had never occurred before, perhaps due to the really hot weather, and didn’t bother us too much.
The hosts were friendly and informative, and gave us suggestions for activities and day trips. We visited the Gorges of Verdon nearby, a couple of the beautiful chateaus nearby for wine tasting (Chateau du Berne is a must) and went on a boat trip recommended by the host around St Tropez which was amazing. On the days we didn’t go out, we had a great time in the pool or tennis court, which were both never busy. Overall, this property was a wonderful place to stay in the heart of Provence, with so many things to see and do nearby. The hosts were great and chateau beautiful, we hope to return one day and would never hesitate in recommending. Thank you!
We are two sisters and No.4 Chateau de Mappe has been our family holiday home for more than 30 years. We have many happy memories of the chateau, and now we enjoy sharing it with likeminded renters and, and creating new memories with our own children when we stay for summer holidays.
Why they chose this property
Chateau de Mappe is wonderfully tranquil, and also convenient for nipping down to Lorgue for morning bread and Tuesday mornings, and long days exploring the Gorges du Verdon or relaxing at Saint Maxime Beach.
What makes this property unique
Our property benefits from old thick stone walls which keep the apartment really cool, even in the hot summer months.
