About Rusty Elumbaugh

We love the White River and we were ecstatic when we found the perfect property for our home away from home. We are not available to go every weekend, so we wanted to share this amazing place with others.

Rusty Elumbaugh purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Rusty Elumbaugh chose Arkansas

It is close to everything: Jacks Trout Dock, Anglers, Blachard Sprins Caverns, Loco Ropes, Gravity Brewery, some of the best trout fishing and the Syllamo Bike Trails. It is the most peaceful place on Earth.

What makes this cabin unique

This home on stilts gives you the best view of the river!

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience at the cabin. The owners were responsive, helpful, and kind. The cabin had every comfort of home, was clean and beautiful. The river was beautiful and we enjoyed watching the wildlife.

The cabin was remote and quiet. The cornhole game and BBQ grill made for a nice evening under the house.

The cabin is 20 mins from Blanchard Springs and caverns. Both. Those sights are worth seeing for sure. The cabin is also a short drive from downtown Mountain View with a Walmart close by.

Truly a great experience all the way around. Thank you for your hospitality!

Sincerely,

Jimmy and Elizabeth Carite

Summer Getaway Gem

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented the cabin for a weekend in June 2017. It is everything it is advertised as. Finding it may take more than just plugging the address in a GPS, but instructions on how to get there are provided by the owners. Note there are other cabins around it and it sits at the end of a small neighborhood comprised of mostly locals, all of which were extremely nice.

The area:

It literally sits just off the White River. A boat ramp to the river and Sylamore creek are just 2 miles back towards the main highway. Mountain View is about 7 miles away and has a Walmart Supercenter, which we used for pretty much everything. There are also several local restaurants close to the cabin - Angler's and JoJo's seem to be the favorites. Note, they close relatively early even on weekends. Blanchard Springs Caverns Park is about 10 miles from the cabin and offers tons of hiking, caving, springs, ponds, and views. The road between the cabin and Melbourne offers some pull offs with great views as well. Halfway to Blanchard Springs is a place to go horseback riding. Note, there is an active railroad track that runs just behind the cabin, but a train passed only 3 times in our 2 nights.

The cabin:

As advertised, it sits 20"+ off the ground. You can DEFINITELY feel the cabin sway in a strong breeze or when people are up walking. There are two couches, a recliner, and a glider (my favorite). The kitchen has everything you need (microwave, oven, fridge, sink, island, plates, silverware, etc.). The bath has a shower, sink, and toilet, with the laundry room attached (bring your own detergent). The bedroom has a decent size closet and huge viewing windows just like the living room, but no TV (only one is in the living room). The patio/balcony has a table and chairs with lighting and a fan. Upon entering the cabin, you will be greeted with the oh so sweet smell of cedar - one of my favorite experiences. A charcoal grill and fire pit are down on the ground patio (bring charcoal and firewood). There is a kayak and paddle board included for use but you CANNOT put them in on the river, you must take them to Sylamore Creek.

Extra:

There may be bit of a wasp problem on the balcony. We saw numerous wasps (more than normal) in two days and suspect a nest being close by or somewhere on the balcony. There are no blinds/curtains so be prepared for light in the mornings. There is a DVD player and cable TV in the living room.

GREAT STAY. WILL BE BACK.

Panoramic White River Views

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for two nights at this unique cabin perched above the White River in Riverview Arkansas. The cabin is built on stilts rising above the river for the ultimate panoramic views.

The sights from each room of this open concept design are amazing! From the bedroom reclining in bed you can watch the beautifully turbulant River float by.

The cabin is fresh and new, with well crafted pine woodwork and moldings and rustic metal ceilings and wainscoting. The owners provided all the comforts needed for a very relaxing stay.

Nice getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is in a great location, a beautiful, remote view with the convenience of town 10 minutes away. The owner was very accomodating. Mountain View is a really nice little mountain town, every convenience you need, but small and country. A much needed getaway from the everyday demands of city life.

Great experience

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is really nice and has windows galore to enjoy the beautiful river views. It is very clean, comfortable, and well appointed with all things needed. We loved sitting on the porch watching and listening to the abundant wildlife and seeing the stars. We enjoyed the cabin's close proximity to Sylamore Creek trails, the Blanchard Springs Caverns and the Ozark Folk Center. Even if you are not a fisher person this is a great place to stay.
