The French Building, Circa 1912 with this Apartment refurbished in 2000. The Eiffel birdcage elevator will take you to the 6 th floor of this beautiful building. It's amazing marble entry Follie, with French Chrystal chandeliers, wood floors and tall ceilings make you feel like you are in the Paris all over again but this time in South America.

Living room Annex to dining room, 3 bedroom and 1 bathroom, 2 balconies that will take your breath away, the hallway will take you to the custom kitchen with high bobedilla ceilings, furnished with European and Argentinian Antiques and love! Close to San Telmo the Antique district, below on the street is the Subte ( metro system ) walking distance to 9 de Julio, calle Florida, and Puerto Madero 7 blocks. Taxi service out the door, incredibly and centrally located to many places in the city of Buenos Aires.

About Owner/Manager

We are International travelers ourselves and Antique collectors and Antique dealers and we like to enjoy life, that's one reason why we acquired it in 2004, while traveling in search of antiques, we fell in love with the city and the architecture and the people. The Apartment was specially selected to enjoy our traveling experiences in Buenos Aires. Our other home is in Lake Arrowhead, California a mountain town where we have lived 27 years.

Why Owner/Manager chose Montserrat

We are the third owners of this apartment.

Before they where apartments it was a hotel, then in the 1950's the government of Argentina passed a law that many buildings could be apartments. The first owner was a lady that owned it from the 1950 to 2002, then a French chef and his wife owned it, then us in 2004 to the present. We fell In love with Buenos Aires and we looked for something unique and Antique, our realtor kept taking us to big houses and modern old buildings that did not fit our eye, but one day driving trough Avenida Belgrano we saw that sign that said "SE VENDE" we made the realtor call to make an appointment and that day with no hesitation we put the offer in. The building is Antique and Amazing it has 24 hour security, the Apartment was remodeled 2 years previous owners who decided to move to France. The views from the Balcony did it too, we made the offer and 6 months later we made it happen, we got in and painted, furnished and restored the bathroom to our likes and made it our home away from home.

What makes this apartment unique

What made our decision to purchase the apartment was the history and the architecture of the building, that was built in 1912 and with the preserved architecture of the building with all the details that it has from the antique marble floors when you come in the entry way, the tall mahogany doors and the 2 balconies that when opening the French doors you get to enjoy the view form the city and get the fresh air the " buenos aires ". The kitchen also did it for us all custom-made by the French chef that previously owned the apartment. We found out that many Europeans moved to buenos Aires in the 1920's bringing their personal possessions and the unique antiquities, from Italy, France, Germany, England, etc. That made also for us a better decision to purchase because we love the search for the unique.

Awesome experience!

We loved the apartment from the moment we glimpsed it on the Home Away app but when we walked in the door our hearts were stolen gasping in wonderment at the beauty and decor in each room. No one really wants cook on vacation, but this kitchen Begs to be put into use and to invite friends over for dinner to enjoy it as well. It's not in a touristy area which is fine because transportation is available very close by in whichever form you prefer. We walked to a lot of the tourist spots (Casa Rosado, Mercado de San Telmo Cafe Tortoni's Avenida de 9 Julio) and felt very safe doing so. The security and the front locked door (evening) was also very reassuring. We truly appreciated having extra towels, pillows, blankets and sheets available if necessary as well as the amenities in the kitchen. (Great pans, dishes, soaps, towels etc) Communication with the owner was optimal: quick response timeframe, very helpful, informative, and very kind. We can't wait to come back and stay again because it has been such a great and easy experience!!

Lovely Apartment to Call Home while in Buenos Aires

We are an elderly couple who with our daughter stayed one week in this apartment. It is decorated lovely and interestingly and gives one a taste to what it was like living in these beautiful buildings decades ago. It is located in a very accessible area.

If you plan to eat in at times go to the San Telmo market otherwise there are small mini markets for basics near by.

Buenos Tours with Don was very good to get more in depth insight into the city. He is from North Carolina and aside from English he speaks Spanish.

We enjoyed our stay both in the apartment and the city.

WOW where do we start?

it's more important what you're interested in, walking? shopping, sightseeing, relaxing etc you can do it all.

Looking trough the balcony to the right you will have a really nice view at a distance to the River La Plata and unique buildings. On the Balcony to the left you will have view of the city buildings and to avenida 9 de Julio.

Walking to the right 2 blocks the Tango District, many restaurants are located, tango Shows. 3 -4 blocks to the right from the Apartment you Take Calle Defensa to the right and it will take you to San Telmo and to Plaza Dorrego where you will find on Sundays the greatest Antique Flea market you'll ever seen, on a different day, take the lateral Norte across the street pass the SOMISA Mid Century building with the Helioport on the top and walk to the end that will take you to The Historic Casa Rosada, the Cathedral and many historical and unique Banks.

A day is required in calle Florida where many stores and Galeria Pacifico is located ( a beautiful shopping center).

Across Avenida Belgrano 2 blocks you can see the Intercontinental Hotel where you could find tour guides and have reservations made for events.

Exiting the Apartment to the left if you walk 2 -3 blocks is the widest avenue in the World Avenida 9 de Julio, where if you keep walking there is the Obelisk many interesting buildings and the most beautiful Teatro Colon.

On a Taxi ride you can ask them to take you to Palermo Soho or Hollywood for dining or shopping, another day to La Recoleta for tourist and the Cemetery and high end stores by Palacio Alvear, tea is highly recommended in the evening at the Alvear. The French embassy building is a must the Ralph Lauren flagship store is a must.

Another day or night could be walking 7-8 blocks to Puerto Madero ( or Taxi ride) where you will find great restaurants and views to the river. A must as well. Other than that just get on the Subte and have a map of the city and visit anything and everything that calls your name, we left a signing book for our guests and you can find recommendations by us and other guests to restaurants on things to do and places to go, you might want to sign in and leave a note on your favorite places that you recommend.

If you miss home go to the Gothic Building 2 blocks across the street and you will find the first Starbucks of South America they also have free wifi if you must have to check your emails and stuff.
