The 7 bedroom lodge is located 8 miles south of Showdown Ski Area with downhill and cross-country skiing + 300 miles of snowmobile trails. Walk out the door to Elk & mule deer hunting. You can also walk from lodge to a small trout stream or drive a short distance to major streams, rivers, and Newland Creek Reservoir for great rainbow and brown trout fishing. Local fishing guides are available on a neighboring 100,000 acre working cattle ranch with over 30 miles of fishable rivers and streams on the property (names and phone numbers can be provided). Or you can be guided on major nearby rivers like the Smith, Missouri, Yellowstone, Madison, Gallatin, etc. for either 1/2 or full day fishing trips. Three major reservoirs on the Missouri River (including Canyon Ferry Reservoir which is just 90 minutes away) has some of the best walleye fishing in the US plus rainbow and brown trout fishing as well.
The forest around the lodge is also great for 4-wheeling, mountain biking, hiking, and bird/wild game watching if you choose. Star-gazing is also incredible as the lodge is located at 6200 feet above sea level and there is NO light pollution so the stars look like you have never seen before. Just 20 minutes away to the north is Memorial Falls which is only a short hike from the parking lot off HWY 89. A must to do is soak in the mineral hot springs pools in White Sulphur Springs just 1/2 hour away.
The lodge is a great place for family reunions with plenty of space in the main lodge room to spread out. A piano and foosball table are also available or you can choose from the many board games, or pick a book from the large library. There is a large screen satellite TV or pick from over 100 DVD/VHS movies provided for your use plus 2 additional TVs are in the bedrooms. We have also had people use the lodge for a small wedding/wedding reception, 50th wedding anniversary, quilting, scrap-booking, etc. It is a great place to use as a base location for your vacation to tour both Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks which are 2.5 to 3 hours away.
The lodge has 1 king bed in the master bedroom w/private bath, walk-in closet and love seat. In addition there are 5 queen private bedrooms and 2 twin beds that all share 3 bathrooms. The main lodge room has fully stocked gourmet kitchen with 3 dining room tables that seat up to 8 people each, 2 gas grills are available for all your BBQ needs, plus all linens/towels are provided, just bring groceries. Wood burning stove is available for your use with split provided wood in the over-sized double garage. Paper products and many spices are available in the cupboard for your use.
Outside in the back yard is a fire pit that you can build a fire to sit around to enjoy the cool evenings and tell your favorite stories or roast smores for desert. Some outside lawn furniture is also available for your use and enjoyment as well. Grocery delivery from a local store in White Sulphur Springs is also available, just request the phone number.

About David Sinkbeil
Kelly and Dave recently retired from their most recent full-time jobs in Lakewood, Colorado for the past 11 years. Now Kelly enjoys quilting, painting and reading in her spare time. Dave enjoys all types of hunting and fishing in both fresh and salt water plus they both enjoy playing cards and board games, especially pinochle and Ticket To Ride. We both love to travel and spend much of their vacation time exploring new parts of the world including going on 2 Viking River Boat Cruises. Because they have lived in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota and Nebraska over 10 years each, they can help you plan your vacation whether it is a hunting or fishing trip, family reunion or just to sight-see they know all of the beautiful places that are a must to see in the northwestern US. Just give them a call.
David Sinkbeil purchased this House in 2001
Why David Sinkbeil chose White Sulphur Springs
We purchased this property in 2001 to live in it full time as you can't find property like this any more with hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, hiking, etc. out your door in the middle of 2 million acres of National Forest. You can't imagine how peaceful and quite it is here and you definitely won't want to leave and go back to the hustle and bustle of city life and the traffic and noise, etc. But right after we moved into the house, we were both offered a long term job in Denver so we packed up our clothes and turned it into a vacation home as we said we can't sell it because we would never find another piece of property like it again.
What makes this House unique
We feature 8 total beds with 1 king, 5 queens, and 2 twin beds with extra blow-up beds for kids in 7 private bedrooms with 4 bathrooms. There is a very large common area (the kitchen, living room and dining room are all together) for your group to enjoy all getting together with 3 dining tables and plenty of couches for everyone to relax. You can sit in front of the large picture windows that face south and enjoy the 300 days of sunshine and curl up with a good book. Our guests have used our home for weddings, 50th wedding anniversaries, large family reunions, a base camp for elk and deer hunting and/or trout fishing, hiking/mountain biking, and a home base to travel and explore Yellowstone and Glacier National parks and other great sights in west central Montana. If you like to ski, there is both downhill and cross-country skiing just 10 minutes away at Showdown Ski Resort or you can enjoy the Kings Hill Snowmobile Trail System with 300 miles of trails for snowmobiling right out the door. The back yard has a great fire pit where you can sit around in the evenings and roast marsh mellows or just enjoy the fire as the evenings get very cool after the sun goes down, even in the heat of the summer months. But then the special part is after dark, you will be able to gaze into the sky and see MORE STARS than you have ever seen in your life, including the Milky Way and many constellations and planets, etc. Be careful walking in the dark as we have NO light pollution and if you are lucky, you might even catch the Northern Lights.

Sports & Adventure Activities
Very ATV friendly. The Montana Sunrise Lodge cabin has everything an atv’er would need, including plenty of stuff to cook with, plenty of bedrooms for the group, plenty of parking for the machines, and plenty of trails! Specifically this area has a great number of 50” trails. The trails are high elevation and scenic. You will enjoy the rocky ups and rocky downs, because the trails are all well maintained and safe.
In the evening enjoy the fire pit or the barbeque grills. Throw a few horseshoes before you plan your next days ride, any direction from the cabin. And, ride directly from the cabin to the trails and back!
These ATV enthusiasts were our first group of renters that came to check out the Kings Hill ATV trail system that surrounds our vacation home in the Lewis & Clark National Forest and they really enjoyed them and our house as you can see from their comments. Please check out the YouTube video of the ATV trails that they posted as well. FYI, these trails are also a 300 mile snowmobile trail system in the winter and some of them are open for use during elk/deer/bear hunting seasons in the fall. We look forward to having other ATV as well as snowmobile guests soon.

Rustic large home centrally located in the belts for endless recreational activities
Our crew consisted of 9 kids ages 1-7 , one 17 year old and 3 moms. We had the best time. Everyday we got out for hikes on different trails. One day we went to the hot springs. Another we went to the reservoire a few miles away. The opportunities are endless if you just get out and for it. We all had a great time. We'll definetly be back.
Awesome, highly recommend!!!
Awesome home in the forest. Everything you need just bring groceries and clothing. Great home for large groups. Very spacious.
Great accomodations for our large family
Our 3-generation family of 20 stayed for a week in July and were very, very happy with the house and it's amenities. The bedrooms were adequate for our large group, the kitchen was well stocked and the living room & dining rooms were great for spreading out, but still being together. There are lots of games & videos available & the foos ball table was a huge hit! The pictures don't really do the space justice. There were area activities for all ages. We hiked the Memorial Falls Trail, visited the Fire Lookout Tower, enjoyed the Sulphur Springs pools. We did some fishing and enjoyed an afternoon at the reservoir. We did a day trip to Great Falls. The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center was excellent.
With 7 children under the age of 12, the large yard was perfect for tossing footballs, baseballs, running, and water balloon fights. We used the fire pit often in the evenings.
I also need to comment on how responsive Dave, the owner was to my many questions leading up to our stay. He also checked in with us after we arrived to ensure we had everything we needed and arrived safely.
We highly recommend this property!
Anything you could possibly need is in this home. We stayed for 10 days with 7 kids most of the time all of them 13 and under. There was plenty of things for them to do. Between hiking up a hill behind the house to running around the yard, playing board games, and they loved the hockey table. The Kitchen is so well stocked that you can pretty much cook anything you would like... and the pots, pans, baking dishing and utensils are all there. It is one of the very best properties we have ever rented. Plenty of spices I picked up a few just because I wasn't sure but they were already there. The town is 20 miles away which is perfect we did all our shopping there. The little meat department in White Sulphur is great!!! Very clean house and the great thing is you can clean up after yourself too....they provide cleaning tools and supplies....We all really enjoyed our stay. Dave is a very nice man and very easy to talk to. Thanks for everything!! Hope to stay again next year!
