Our home is a beautifully maintained Colonial home with a combination of modern elements and traditional Colonial style.

Casa Cascada is perfectly located one block from restaurants and cafes and 3 block from the central park.

Casa Cascada is situated in one of the best locations to enjoy the colonial city of Granada. Everything is in walking distance, just steps away from cafes, restaurants, spas, a 24 hr pharmacy, laundry service, supermarkets, 24 hrs indoor parking available and museums. As well, the town square and Cathedral are 3 blocks away from the house in one direction and the waterfront of Lake Nicaragua is a 15 minute walk in the opposite direction. The neighborhood is clean and safe.

Thanks to our location, most of our guests walk or use local taxis which are inexpensive. Also, there are many tour operators in close proximity to the house for tour or shuttle services to other destinations including airport services. If you have a car rental, there is a parking garage for over-night parking located half a block from Casa Cascada. From the airport in Managua, a local taxi will take you to Granada in approximately one hour.

I am a Canadian Nicaraguan and have lived most of my life in Toronto Canada where I met my wife. We enjoy travelling to different parts of the world, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. Music is a big part of our lives as my wife is a pianist. We also love to dance , cook, we love the outdoors, and I enjoy painting in my free time. Casa Cascada offers a lovely large patio area with a pool, gardens, and a cascading waterfall for your relaxation and enjoyment. It is equally beautiful at night, transformed into a magical lit haven where you can lounge underneath the stars and be soothed by the trickling sound of the waterfall.

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with this property form the moment we walked inside! Casa Cascada has a certain "feng shui", with a very airy and open feeling throughout. The brightness from one end to the other is wonderful by day, and by night, the peaceful feeling you get from the sound of the waterfall and the beautiful lighting is equally wonderful. We also love that this home offers a combination of colonial and modern elements which makes it so unique!

A First-Class experience from initial contact with Antonio, check-in/out with Yerica, and of course the stay. Loved the place! Super easy walk to all Granada offers, and a GREAT secure parking garage (which I utilized) only a block or so away on the same street.

Perfect Location

This place was a great place to stay in Granada! it was just 2 blocks from all the action and was very safe. The pool was wonderful to cool off in and the house was very nice, well kept. We had no issues getting back our deposit, everyone we dealt with treated us great. Thanks for a very memorable trip!

Beautiful, well-maintained home in fantastic location

I write this as the former owner of two houses in Granada that I rented out through vrbo, so I know how difficult it can be to maintain a rental home there. This house was in amazing condition and maintained perfectly, and it is even more beautiful in person than in the pictures. And the location simply cannot be beat - in a relatively quiet spot but only a block from a lot of "action." Dealing with owner was flawless - always very responsive and easy to work with. The air conditioning units in the bedrooms were in tip-top shape and kept us cool when we needed to sleep. The pool is gorgeous. I was even surprised to find that they had provided some basic toiletries in the bathrooms - nice touch! I would not hesitate for a second to stay here again, and I hope we will!

If I could just mention a couple of tiny items that do NOT affect my overall review, just as a matter of small warning:

1. The property manager does not really speak English. It was not a problem for us with our moderate amount of Spanish, and the owner is a native English speaker. Just made communication take a little longer with her than it would otherwise. She was very nice and helpful, though.

2. There seems to be an issue with the electrical outlets in the dining room area - I plugged into one under a hutch and received two big shocks! Only after that did I notice that on a nearby wall there was a huge black mark where another outlet was, indicating there must have been an electrical fire there. This was the only area where I noticed this - outlets in the bedrooms were just fine, for instance.

Again, these are minor items mentioned only for full disclosure, but this is a first-rate property!

For us Casa Cascada is our home away from home and thus we have put much love and care into it and we will continue to do so. Our goal is for our guests to enjoy our home as much as we do. Our property manager Rafaela is not versed in the English language as most Nicaraguan's are not, and yet they put forth their best effort to try and communicate. For this reason we provide a phone with free long distance calls throughout North America. This way we are available 24 hours a day for our guests through our direct phone lines, if the need should arise. Thanks Krista for bringing the electrical outlet situation to our attention, however, we have never had any electrical fire. We will have a technician look into it though. We appreciate your input.

Nice property, good location. But beware.

This a a very nice property in a good location in Granada. We enjoyed staying there.

I have stayed in Nicaragua before and noticed that this property did not offer housekeeping or breakfast (both are usually part of a stay in Granada) and had a strict cancellation policy and asked for a damage deposit. Those things are rather uncommon for the area, but I agreed. I did get a vibe about it especially when I checked in and had to complete a checklist of the condition of everything in the house. The house itself is great and set up with everything you need.

Each of the bedrooms are opened with a key. The doorknobs are levers. Push down they open. Except one. We struggled with opening the door and I was about to call for help with it when I realized it opened just fine if you push up.Before we checked out I made sure all dishes were washed and put away, tables wiped down, trash taken care of, towels gathered and put near washer, etc. When the housekeeper came back to check me out, she walked around checking everything while on the phone with the owner. When she hung up she asked what happened to the door. First I was confused then realized she was talking about the doorknob. I showed her that it worked fine by pushing up. She said ok and let me go.

When I received notification of a return of my deposit, they charged me $85 to replace door knob and another $90 to replace towels and sheets. ( My young teenaged daughter had gotten her period and said there was a spot on the sheets the size of a dime.) I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary when I gathered the towels at the end of the stay so I don't know what that was about.

My advice is that if you stay here, be very very careful ...actually I was careful as I always am with other people's property. This is the only time in my life of extensive traveling that I did not receive a full refund of a damage deposit.

Owner's Response: Regretfully our experience with Vicky was a very different guest situation, firstly, because there was very limited communication from the time of booking until the end of her stay. Emails were ignored and several phone call attempts were unsuccessful. We also provide a phone line in the house for any needs our guests require, with free North American calls making it easy to communicate 24 hours a day. This is a service that all our guests have really appreciated having. Vicky was surprised to have had a strict cancellation policy and that a damage deposit was required but this is the common practice for VRBO vacation rentals and generally for all renters worldwide. She seems to have had different expectations, however, our policy and services are clearly stated on the VRBO site before one chooses and books our home. We have never had issues with this before with any guests. Regretfully the majority of the damage deposit had to be kept in this situation because of the fact that Vicky and her five teen children were not respectful of our home. We welcome children to our home and have had many families with children of all ages vacation in our home without incident. Unfortunately this was not the case. In the short two day stay the house was left very dirty. As well bath towels were used as mops for spilled soft drinks, soiled floors etc. and were permanently stained and damaged needing to be replaced for future guests. One set of high quality bed sheets needed to be replaced as well due to blood stains that also penetrated through to the mattress protector which was also replaced. And lastly the bedroom door lock of room number three was forced open and permanently damaged needing replacement of a new lock and installation by a locksmith. All these factors came at a cost to us and one must be responsible when damaging the property of others. This is the purpose of the damage deposit. There is a difference between being untidy, breaking a glass, or causing damage. We take pride in having our home in mint condition for all our guests and provide high standards for their vacation experience in Granada.

Tuvimos un muy buen tiempo. El lugar es muy hermoso. Bastante tranquilo y con mucha privacidad. Es un sitio muy seguro. La casa es muy acogedora y cuenta con todas las comodidades y espacios para pasar unas hermosas vacaciones.

Granada, una ciudad colonial muy bonita y con muchos lugares para pasarla bien.

Felices de tener esta oportunidad. Excelente ubicación.

Very unique

The home was really different to what we are used to in Canada. It was a welcomed surprise. The dipping pool was a welcomed treat in the hot afternoon heat. The in side courtyard is what makes this house. A/C in bedrooms was good. Kitchen was well equipped. Excellent home for touring Granada. Nothing is more than a few blocks away.
