We built Te ana o Vaitia, this beautiful wooden house ont tilts in 2000 on a crest, at 1300ft high above Papeete, a little higher than the Pic rouge's antenna, on the model of the house built in Moorea by my parents, a French father and Tahitian mother (Tahiti beach house.com). The road was used by a few neighbors and I, who had only private water tanks like in the Tuamotu. The house was renovated in 2011. The ceiling of the living room is thatched with palms and the buabua floor (clear exotic wood) give it a mood of Polynesian simplicity and intimacy. The yellow exterior walls and the white tin roof match the blue of the swimming pool. Upon arrival, you may feel, thanks to the breeze, the scent of ferns and eucalyptuses. The glass doors and the French windows invite you to take advantage of the view on the neighbor hills, the sky and the lagoon from the living room, all the rooms and even the bathrooms. Wardrobes, cupboards, shelves, outside lights contribute to the warm mood of this house:
Surface: 1st floor 393 sq ft, terrace 42 sq ft; jardin 1445 sq yards
4 rooms of 45 sq ft
5 king size beds
1 bathroom of 24 sq ft, 2 of 27 sq ft,
1 queen size sofa bed in the living room
kitchen of 18 sq ft, terrace
oval pool of 12 ft x30 ft
an automated wooden gate door,
next to the garage: tools room of 36 sq ft, roofed parking for 3 cars, a wooden tile-roofed alley from the garage to the house on 5 yards, very much appreciated when it rains;
flowered garden that may be lit up at night;
From the house, you can see the planes land, the ferries come into the port of Pape'ete. You can see Point Venus at the east.
A small moutain backs up the Te ana o Vaitia house from cool south winds during the dry season (july).
Equipment available: micro-wave oven, refrigerator, 5 burner stove, oven, (10 pounds) washing machine, TV, water pump and 2 water tanks of 7500l for a water autonomy (ecological choice), to be chosen in alternance with the acces to the town water.
Included services: internet access (ADSL), cable TV with 37 TNS channels (some programs are available in English), lawn mowed 1 time/ month, garden kept tidy, charges (electricity, ...), luggage-room (under conditions); possibly granted as a favour when available, an early check in and/or late check out.
If you leave from the market place, it is 2.5 miles to the east, by the valley of Tipaeru'i (Conservatoire de Polynésie française). After the bridge, after the Plomberium store and the straight road on 440 yard, across the STAM glass building, at Polyserd factory take to the left towards the Pic rouge (Red peak) and at the 1st crossing, keep on going towards the Pic vert (Green peak) 1.8 miles. At the 2nd crossing of the Pic rouge, keep on going up on the right for 333 yards, and, just before the bump before the adventist building, turn on your left at the red fence and red gate, get in and go up the private alley for 220 yards. Go past the small house and you arrive to Te ana o Vaitia at the end of the flat.
If you have passed the adventist building, go back down and take the 1st entrance and private road on the right.
Tahiti and, at sunset, Mo'orea, the sister-island
The softness and constance of the NE winds prevent the too big heats and insure the best sun exposure of the island. It also explains why there are less mosquitoes than down in the valleys. The pure and scented air of the hills, the limpidity of the sky, the calmness, the beauty of the coloured clouds, the sunrises and sunsets, the style of the Te ana o Vaitia house will seduce you.
The location is very convenient, at 4.3 miles from the airport, 4.3 miles from the Papeete town center. The crossing over to Mo'orea lasts 7 mn by plane, 30 mn by fast ferry, 1 hour by ferry. it is also 5.6miles from the Punaauia commercial centre.
I enjoy sharing the privileged life that we Polynesian experience all year long.
Tepapa purchased this villa in 1985
Seduced by the view and the calmness of the nature, the proximity to the town and the view on Moorea where I grew up, we built Te ana o Vaitia.
Central for people who want to go to several islands during their stay, for work, multiple day/night/sport/cultural activities.
before or after going to the islands, there's a lot to do on Tahiti marearea (the great luxurious yellow Tahiti).
