The Guesthouse is part of our large farm house. It is a private area on the second floor with two bedrooms, a sitting/dining area, and bathroom. We are located in the heart of Amish country in Lancaster County away from the hustle and bustle, where you will hear the sound of horse and buggies. A one room school house is next door and full of activity during school months with the neighborhood children. The towns of Intercourse and Bird-In-Hand are only 10-15 minutes away.
As Mennonites, we have lived all but two years of our married life, and raised our four children here on the farm. My father-in-law Noah Wenger purchased the farm for my husband and I before we were married. We have enjoyed the beautiful view and wonderful farm life with our children, and now our fourteen grandchildren who love to come and play on the farm. My daughters and daughter in law still love to come and walk the lovely, low-traffic roads.
Charlotte Wenger purchased this farmhouse in 1980
We raise chickens and steers, and overlook beautiful farmland. If you want the true experience of Amish Country, it's here! You could spend the day just sitting on the front porch overlooking the meadows, and watching the Amish and Mennonite neighbors living life, and traveling the road. If you like to walk, jog, or ride bike, you'll enjoy the back roads with very little traffic.
We had a wonderful stay. The rooms were warm and quiet. An excellent jump off point to the nearby town of Lilitiz!
This place is absolutely beautiful. We brought our pastor and his wife up for a couple days of rest and relaxation, Charlotte was the best hostess ever. We had e everything we could possibly need. We truly enjoyed staying on the farm. The school house next door was an extra special treat to be able to watch the children coming into school in the mornings was such a special surprise. We learned so much about the area tradition and history just by talking with Charlotte and her husband. We came feeling like guest and left feeling like friends. We will stay here again and again.
My friend and I had a wonderful time. Charlottes home is beautiful. It was so comfortable and everything was well kept and very clean. Charlotte was wonderful to visit with and felt like a old friend. I would highly recommend staying here and will stay here again on my next visit.
What a wonderful gift from my daughters. We stayed at Charlotte and Elvin's home for 5 days and toured the area. This farm is such a tranquil setting in the country and the homeowners are so very gracious. The apartment was very clean. Home away from home and the beds were like sleeping on a cloud. What a joy to see the little ones arrive at the little school house right next door. Will certainly try to return for another stay with this wonderful family.
We went on a girls weekend trip and used the house as a base. We loved the grounds and the farm was beautiful. The house is not far from the Green Dragon Market. The Wenger's were a delight to talk we and we enjoyed our stay.
My husband & I brought my 70+ year old aunt and uncle here to fulfill her lifelong dream of visiting the Amish countryside. Finding this place had to have been at the hand of God himself. The home was warm, inviting, and exceptional. Never have we stayed at a nicer place. The highlight of our trip was watching, from our bedroom window or the front porch, the children arriving and departing school next door each day. My husband enjoyed visiting with Elvin for brief moments and exploring the farm. We all enjoyed the kindness and smile offered by Charlotte each time we saw her, but felt our stay was as if we were in our own home with no one else around. We all left here refreshed and feeling very blessed to have had the opportunity to meet these wonderful people and enjoy their beautiful world. We certainly will share this place with our family and friends who might visit this area and hopefully we will have an opportunity to return one day soon, maybe in the spring time.
Enjoy the drive through beautiful farmland! We're located off the beaten path, and only fifteen minutes from the Amish country of Intercourse and Bird-In-Hand. Take a peek in the chicken house on our farm, and maybe even pet a steer. Relish the view of cattle grazing in the meadow, and the horse and buggy traffic traveling down the road. There is a one room school house located beside our home. During school months, watch Amish and Mennonite children at play as you sit in our back yard. You'll experience the culture as you travel the neighborhood and savor the view from the front porch.
