Kitchen was old, not well equipped, lighting poor, ants everywhere especially at night. There were no shops near by, you needed a car to get to them. The gordwalk was treacherous , old and dangerous for walking, wooden boards cracked, missing and installed far aoard. Beds were nice and clean but floors were old and looking not very clean. stoned wall in the bathrooms was rough, dirty and full of insects. Shower heads were poor.

The kitchen has a beautiful rustic aesthetic and is fully equipped along with many extras. The clients wanted a microwave but we offer toaster ovens as stated online. We just fumigated the whole house after they left and we do this regularly. I told them you can not leave food and crumbs out everywhere and you can not leave your screen doors open but they did anyway. We are in a dry tropical forrest surrounded by wildlife and if you leave your doors open and food out you are inviting a lot of critters inside. These clients were both in their 80s and needed a lot of unusual assistance and care day to day. When booking I told her that the boardwalk may be difficult if they have any knee or walking problems. Additionally, you can walk to the beach faster on a flat surface if you avoid the wooden boardwalk and follow the road. There are 2 small grocery stores, about 15 restaurants, 5 boutique shops, 2 French bakeries, etc within a short walking distance, all well under 5 to 10 minutes. The Tree House was built over 30 years ago. It is one of the first houses in this town and most of our clients love the ambience we have preserved. We are planning to replace the ceramic floor tiles of the house here shortly, as they do have some scuffs over the years. Myself and our entire staff bent over backwards for them the entire time. I even through her à birthday party with dinner and a cake and had her invite her friends. Different strokes for different folks.

Ben was an amazing host! He was kind, welcoming and incredibly helpful with everything. We were fortunate to have a whole month there so we could really slow down and appreciate the Pura Vida spirit. We enjoyed our little "tree house" thoroughly. It felt very authentically Costa Rican, warm, earthy and full of heart. We spent at least an hour a day under the fans on the top porch in the Hammocks! We saw monkeys in our yard most days! The most incredible part of our stay was the magical Playa Avellanas and all of the friends we made there. We miss it already!!

Ben is a fabulous host! He was so friendly, very quick to respond to questions, and very helpful. He had great suggestions for restaurants, helpful tips for the area, and even helped set us up with a boat tour.The treehouse itself has a wonderfully rustic charm about it. We enjoyed our morning coffees on the upstairs porch, watching the birds and monkeys in the trees. The hammocks were a great place to spend a quiet afternoon. The bed was super comfortable. We enjoyed both eating out as well as cooking for ourselves. The kitchen has everything you need to cook meals if you choose to do so. As far as location goes, it is centrally situated. The beach is a short walk away, as are the restaurants. And even with this central location, it is a secluded little paradise. We absolutely loved it, and we would love to visit again!! Thanks Ben!

Ben bring such a great host really makes this property. He checked in on us prior to arrival and throughout our stay with helpful info. He knew we were travelling with kids and left boogie boards out for us to use. He also learned it was our daughter's birthday and gave her a small gift. It is a rustic property and we appreciated the opportunity to stay somewhere so unique on our trip. We spent some time chilling in the hammocks with a lovely warm breeze blowing through. The walk to the beach along the boardwalk through the mangroves is very cool and the beach was fabulous for boogie boarding and sunsets.

From our initial arrival, Ben was extremely welcoming and helpful. The property feels safe and is in a fabulous location for access to a stunningly beautiful beach. Ben set us up with easy beach access via the property across the street. We loved their restaurant and ate their several times. It was fun being amongst the howler monkeys! We spent 2 days on the beach and had reserved Lola’s restaurant at sunset (incredible!) and then booked beach chairs there the next day and enjoyed the amenities. Ben checked in on us several times and wanted to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and had everything we needed. He even offered to be on hand if any quandaries popped up in our next location during our stay in Costa Rica. The property is rustic and gives a jungle-like experience.

What a beautiful hidden gem this is! Ben is the most gracious and kind host you could ever wish for who truly delights in his guests’ happiness. He has an amazing lush and serene property that is walking distance from a stunning soft sand beach with consistent waves for all to enjoy. The house was lovely. It is a mix of a rustic experience with touches of luxury sprinkled throughout. It is clear that Ben takes pride in his property. Enough outdoor hammocks for each of us, incredible stone bathroom, a/c units in the bedrooms for a cool night of sleep. The area is lovely. People with carts selling snow cones on the beach, a mix of upscale and typical restaurants with a relaxed feel throughout. We hope to return one day.

Another great visit!

We love staying here! It is a little rustic, but the location is awesome and it has everything you need to make meals and enjoy your time in the dry jungle! It was the perfect place to stay for our surf trip. The cats are very sweet and made my stay even better!

Wonderful host!!

We really loved our stay at the treehouse, and Ben was a wonderful host. It was a perfect place to have two small families stay on the same property but in separate houses. Private Near beach

Great time in Avellanas!

Stayed here with 3 others and found the location to be very accommodating. The location fit our needs with respect to private parking, security, and location to the beach. We were also able to cook meals in the kitchen which added to the convenience. Avellanas is a great beach town and the beach was a short walk away. It was nice lounging around in the hammock and enjoying the scenery. I would gladly go back.

A week in paradise

We began communicating with Ben several months out before our vacation. He was very prompt in responding and answered any and all questions for us. When we arrived, everything was set up and ready for us. It was very enjoyable. This is not a five star hotel room, but very accommodating, very close to a wonderful beach and within driving distances of shops and restaurants. It was a great place to stay. If you do go, you must at least take a nap in the hammocks. They are wonderful.
