Le Mizieu! C'est la maison!
If you wish to have an authentic "vieux maison" in France away from the bustle of the cities, this is it! Be prepared to feel as if you are part of the very region that gives France the fame for beautiful scenery, quaint "villages" in the Burgundy region that is noted over the world for it's wines and food. You will be staying in a 200 year old farmhouse. Comfortable, accommodating and very reminiscent of French history. The cities of Beaune and Autun are nearby and offer all anyone could wish for tourism. Do not miss this one!
Thank you for your review Don, I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay! That is the reason I rent my home- so that others can enjoy this amazing part of the world, so charming & rich in history. I appreciate your taking the time to write a review & would like to offer you a special rate next time you book. best regards, Sylvi
A slice of quiet and tranquility within the Park Morvan
The two weeks we stayed at Le Mizeux were very relaxing. The drive into the Park Morvan approaching the house takes you into another world of verdant farmland where the famous white cows grazing endlessly.
The farmhouse was comfortable and spacious with a huge pink marble shower! The bedrooms were spacious with lovely windows looking out onto a large fig tree and the lawn. After finding everything, it felt like home. We cooked most dinners there after long day trips. There is so much to do in the area. Beaune and drives along the canals are a must.
One could spend hours watching the numerous kitties playing about the area. I couldn't resist buying cat food for them. I became very popular with the feline population.
The caretakers, Val and Paul were most attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed.
We are definitely going back!
Thank you Lorie & Robert for your lovely review. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay, the peace & quiet, in an area so rich in things to do. I do hope you will stay in my home again. I provided you with maps & suggestions of places to visit, & next time I will give you even more maps & suggestions for what you may have missed. I would also like to offer you a special rate next time you book. best regards, Sylvi

About Sylvi Harwin owner
I am an artist and grew up part time in France. When I bought the property in 1999 it had dirt floors, no plumbing or electricity- in short, it was the 250 farmhouse that it is but not modernized, lived in as it was centuries ago. I have been restoring it ever since, adding modern conveniences but remaining true to the look & feel of the period. The ground floor is now fully restored with all of the modern conveniences- & I am now moving onto the the second floor where there will be 4 more bedrrooms & 2 baths. It has been a real hands on adventure, travelling over between shows to work on the house with a crew of local artisans to help.

Why Sylvi Harwin owner chose Roussillon-en-Morvan
When I lived in France (Paris for work) I always went to this area on my vacations because of the pristine beauty of the regional park & all of the activities offered there. There are wonderful hikes to take or you can spend days on horseback wandering through the forests & sleeping in a different hamlet each night...I also love the good wines & food of the region amd Autun is a real gem of a city!
What makes this Farmhouse unique
The area is so peaceful that I am able to restore & renew myself away from the stresses of work & daily life. It is temperate with lovely light, generally beautiful weather, lots of flowers & peaceful, stunning views. The nearby town iof Autun offers wonderful museum exhibits, monuments from its period as the center of the Roman period in France, miles of vineyards with wine tasting, many, many beautiful castles to visit (try the castle circuit!), outdoor markets with fresh foods & local products for those who like to cook, and some terrific restaurants!
