Nice stay, authentic Amish working environment

  • 4 of 5

Definitely a great location to see real Amish at work; numerous horse/buggies and cyclists moving in and out of town and shopping at the stores. Prices seemed reasonable even in the more touristy destinations - less mercenary tourism than we have experienced elsewhere. Loved to hear the clip-clop of the horses at night sitting on the three season porch. Kitchen was well equipped and easy to cook in. Loft area a plus for older/morose teenage children. Nice park just below the cottage with playground equipment.

The stone cottage has "great bones!"

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I so enjoyed the craftsmanship of this stone cottage. The work it must have required to build so long ago! Homes are not built like this today. Winesburg is a very cute town, with a wonderful meat market (recommend the garlic bacon) and old fashion deli just 2 blocks from the inn. Enjoyed the screened in porch and the "clip-clop" of the buggies that passed by...

Owner's Response: So happy that you enjoyed the cottage...and yes, the craftsmanship is awesome and the charm of small town Winesburg just adds to the overall experience of staying at the cottage. Winesburg Meats is a great place...I'll have to try the garlic bacon, that's one thing I've not yet tried. We find that most of our guests spend lots of time on the screened in patio...sipping coffee and listening to the "clip-clop" of the horse drawn buggies as they make their way through town. We hope to have you stay with us again soon.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at the Stone Cottage Inn. It had all the necessary amenities and plenty of room for the four of us. The location was perfect and allowed for short drives to all the great shopping locations in Holmes County. The Inn was cozy, quiet and very nicely furnished housing for our stay. We hope to be back again.
