Why Johnsie Beck and Cindy Nicholson chose Virginia

Burke's Garden is my "hometown." When my husband and I moved our family back to Virginia in 2001, we moved into the renovated Parsonage. We made a few changes over the years, but the core of the house remains just as it was built around 1900. In 2014, we moved next door to my parents' home. Now we're very excited to share this beautiful home with guests who, we hope, will enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this one of a kind setting.

Wonderful place to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

"The Parsonage" was a wonderful vacation "home away from home": the large modern kitchen was easy to work in and eat in. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and clean. Although we had a small problem with one of the toilets, the owners took care of it as soon as we called. We enjoyed great cycling (rolling farmland and meadows) and beautiful scenery.

A solid five stars.

Super fun baseball getaway with friends!

  • 5 of 5

We were in the Bluefield area for the VA State Little League Baseball tournament. Four families grouped together to rent the Parsonage & the Guest House for the long weekend, and it could not have been better! Our large group had plenty of space, both inside and out, to enjoy each other and the beauty surrounding us. We even hosted an outdoor team party in the backyard which was an amazing place to gather and play! Burkes Garden is quite a little gem...none of us had been there before, but we all left in awe of the breath taking views and welcoming community. The houses are both fully equipped - kitchen utensils and supplies, soaps, linens, towels, cooling fans and games...it was so nice to not have to pack everything from home! Johnsie and Cindy were wonderful to work with in every way! The General Store is just down the street which was a great convenience for snacks and drinks. We sure hope to be back one day, but what priceless memories to cherish until we do! :)

Wonderful location for our family.

  • 4 of 5

We loved the home and it was big enough for our 3 families to have their own space. The owners were so nice and friendly. Would recommend finding a way to air condition the house, as staying there much past mid June may be uncomfortable.
