Historic Turn Of The Century Home In The Highest Valley In Virginia
Johnsie Beck and Cindy Nicholson
Why Johnsie Beck and Cindy Nicholson chose Tazewell
Burke's Garden is my "hometown." When my husband and I moved our family back to Virginia in 2001, we moved into the renovated Parsonage. We made a few changes over the years, but the core of the house remains just as it was built around 1900. In 2014, we moved next door to my parents' home. Now we're very excited to share this beautiful home with guests who, we hope, will enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this one of a kind setting.

Both the home and the surrounding area were beautiful. Tranquil and peaceful location. Most enjoyable. Cindy is a fantastic host. Will return again.
Slice of Heaven!
What a beautiful community! Went there on Mother's Day weekend and couldn't wait to return with my grandchildren. With it being such a relaxed atmosphere, I was concerned about whether or not my 13- and 14-year old grandsons would have enough to do, but I was quickly proved wrong. If you decide to try out this little slice of heaven, make sure you arrange a buggy ride with Joe at the General Store. That was the highlight of our trip to get to see one of the working farms up close and to swing around and bounce off the walls of an old silo,... that was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience that my grandsons and I will never forget. Also went to Beckley, WV to tour a coal mine, Crab Orchard Museum and the Wolf Creek Indian Village (they have an abundance of flat rocks at the creek that are just perfect for skipping). Beautiful scenery around every corner and wonderful, down-to-earth people. Our only objection is that we couldn't stay longer, because we never got a chance to use the telescopes at the house, nor did we have a chance to rent bikes from Mattie's.
This is a fabulous home set in the absolutely stunng backdrop of Burkes Garden Virginia. If you are stressed from everyday life, step back and enjoy nature's beauty like none other. A very quiet and absolutely peaceful setting. You will revive and renew. The locals are wonderful and welcoming.
Great location in a remote place
What an enjoyable and unforgettable place. Cindy welcomed us and was very helpful and kind. The landscape and house is very charming, full of beautiful old trees and plenty of space for everyone. It's a historical, beautiful, clean and well kept place. We were lucky and had the whole house for ourselves. Definitely worth not only to stay for a weekend. We came with our motorbikes to do a photoshoot. It will appear soon on PlunderDog.com or on Facebook under PlunderDog.com .
Thanks from all of us
Restful country getaway
We really enjoyed our escape to the country! The house was large and spacious...our boys especially loved running around the huge back yard. We were very comfortable and Cindy was so warm and welcoming! Highlight of the trip was the wagon ride from the kind Amish family across the street! Would highly recommend!
Beautiful home, gorgeous views, we will be back!
Love this place! Perfect place for any type of retreat or family get together. Great place for photography and you can check out the photos I took on Facebook or Instagram at Vickie Butner Photography (website coming soon). Owner was very hospitable and runs the new art gift shop just down the street, a must stop! The Amish are also very nice to talk to. Be sure to check out Mattie’s place and the General Store (be sure to come early Friday for their all you can eat Amish buffet!)
Located in the center of Burke's Garden, VA, the Parsonage is approximately 12 miles from the town of Tazewell, VA. All necessary supplies can be obtained there, if they are not available at the Burke's Garden General Store, 2 miles away.
The secondary road between BG and Tazewell crosses Rich Mountain.
Driving, biking or hiking the looped roads within BG will reveal many beautiful and unique vistas, often including bird and wildlife sightings.
