True escape to a quieter time

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved staying at this home for a couple of nights this fall. It is a huge home but at the same time, it felt cozy. We were only 4 and it felt like we had endless space to explore both inside the home and around the large yard. The renovated kitchen was modern, fully functional and well stocked with pots/plans/plates/glasses/etc. The rooms were all nicely decorated, with much of the house feeling like you are walking through a Norman Rockwell painting. And while Burke's Garden is truly a world apart and feels like you have stepped in a bit of a time warp, the internet worked well which made my kids very happy. The valley also has a couple of general stores in it so that you can get basics if you need them without driving too far. If you want find a way to relax in a quiet setting, surrounded by farms, horse drawn carriages, sheep and cows this is it!

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Loved spending Thanksgiving in Burke's Garden again! After my grandparents died, we spent several years away. We were thrilled to have the Parsonage available to our family so we could relive our childhood memories of Thanksgiving in BG. Thanks to Cindy for providing everything we needed to make it perfect including pie plates, turkey roaster, and beautiful weather! We'll be back!

Wonderful place to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

"The Parsonage" was a wonderful vacation "home away from home": the large modern kitchen was easy to work in and eat in. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and clean. Although we had a small problem with one of the toilets, the owners took care of it as soon as we called. We enjoyed great cycling (rolling farmland and meadows) and beautiful scenery.

A solid five stars.

Why Johnsie Beck and Cindy Nicholson chose Tazewell

Burke's Garden is my "hometown." When my husband and I moved our family back to Virginia in 2001, we moved into the renovated Parsonage. We made a few changes over the years, but the core of the house remains just as it was built around 1900. In 2014, we moved next door to my parents' home. Now we're very excited to share this beautiful home with guests who, we hope, will enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this one of a kind setting.
