Quaint downtown cottage
This was the perfect place to stay for a little getaway. It is only a couple blocks from the shops and restaurants downtown, yet is quiet and peaceful. Janice and Portia are wonderful hosts. I will return!
Lovely cottage. Close to everything within walking distance. Cozy and comfortable!
Historical Cottage walking distance to waterfront!
Absolutely amazing cottage that is very close walking distance to the waterfront and from everything downtown. It's about a mile from the Convention Center and that's at the far end of the Front St. business area so you're right there but far enough away that you don't hear the noise, traffic, late night hoopla. Janice and Portia are such gracious hosts! We arrived Thursday late afternoon to find the fridge stocked with bottles of water, jams and butters, bagels and fresh made zucchini nut bread (my absolute favorite that my Grandmother used to make me)!! They had fresh fruit in a bowl on the table and notes everywhere letting us know how to work the tv/wifi, if something was a little wonky with it being a very old house they explained it perfectly. Which growing up in New England I understand that perfectly! The beds were perfect and so comfortable! I had a great night's sleep two nights before my race and immediately after. I highly recommend sitting on the swing on the front porch with your morning coffee or in the evening with a glass of wine or beer! Platypus & Gnome is a great restaurant with a menu changing with the seasons that we loved. Jester's Cafe is a little walk away from downtown but excellent quiche for breakfast, Front St. Brewery had a great selection of local beers and they usually have a local brew on sale for incredibly cheap! I also got to experience oysters, nice and freshly shucked at the corner of Market St. and Front St. Shuckin Shack! Half dozen oysters on the half shell for $10 and they gave us a dozen by mistake and charged us for a half! WOW!! Definitely want to come back when it's not for a race!
Adorable place convenient to the river area
The French House Cottage is so cute and comfortable. It's a great little historic house just perfect for a getaway. Portia and Janice were great, too. They left us delicious goodies for breakfast and most importantly, coffee! Such a nice touch and really made us feel welcome.
The River Walk is a quick stroll away, less than 10 minutes, through a historic neighborhood. Tons of restaurants, drinking establishments, and shops are within walking distance. Highly recommend staying here when visiting Wilmington!
My wife and I stayed here to celebrate my birthday. Beautiful and charming cottage that's in a great location for getting to restaurants and shops along the river.
Everything was so perfect! The cottage is not only beautiful, it is exceptionally clean. Janice and Portia could not have been more helpful and hospitable. We absolutely loved our stay at the cottage and our time in Wilmington!
