We stayed at the Island Park home during our visit to Yellowstone. We enjoyed our stay. Staying here you will be about 20 minutes from the park entrance at West Yellowstone, so location was good for us as we prefer to be away from the hustle and bustle. Here are some of the pros and cons we found with this property.
Pros:
Location had great views and was quiet.
Interior was very clean, with plenty of TP and towels and bathrooms and kitchen were very nice.
Kitchen was very well stocked with quality appliances, utensils, dishes, pots and pans.
Home is deceptively spacious, with a complete basement, so everyone can have their space.
Bathrooms were clean and showers were great.
Two sets of washer/dryers is a plus.
Cons:
Home does not give you a great first impression, with an untidy yard and filthy, broken grills on the patio. Decking that goes around the home was very dirty when we arrived. Inside home was very clean (5 stars), but outside is neglected (1 star).
Family room is beat up and walls are all chipped. Needs a coat of paint badly.
No air conditioning!! This was not a problem on day 2 and day 3 for us, as temps were cool. But we arrived and temp was over 90 outside and mid 80's inside. Needless to say, we couldn't sleep the first night due to the heat. After that, temps dropped and we were comfortable. But if you come in the summer, be aware that there is no air conditioning in this home.
Refrigerator works fine, but all the drawers and door holders are broken inside.
Other considerations:
Home is far from any store, so be sure to get your groceries before you arrive. Nearest gas station (+/- 10miles) has a store but is only open from 9am-6pm. Gas pumps are open, but store closes.
