The best thing about the property is the location, which is amazing. And the supply of kayaks, lifejackets etc. If you are bringing a dog, it's worth knowing that the area is over-run with rabbits. Not sure why there is a reference to a winery in the listing. It's a basic batch (and small) but clean and everything you need. The outdoor set up is excellent. We'd come back again for sure.

We're being completely honest. The photos do not reflect reality. The place is tiny lacks internet & has basic TV, & has 1 bedroom, with a cramped area near the toilet with bunks, big gaps where wind comes in. The mould on all curtains, round windows sills/place is severe; Under the main bed, lounge area lies grime that seems to have accumulated over years. We endured a severe bed bug infestation & flea bites leaving sores on us which took weeks to heal, made us very weak and tired, have photos. The kitchenware is filthy, years of built up grime & dirt. Never used their cookware. Mouse/Peep holes in the ceiling and saw mice & ceiling coming apart, pubic hair in shower There are spots where repairs merely hide damage—it's rough & unkept. We were not believed and wanted to leave but they wanted us to go over the place with cleaner. This is not our job. There is no other room/s in the house and no keys for rooms outside, as shown in listing. The place is very cold & unkept. The whole balcony & railings are old rotted & dangerous. There is a fireplace but gives very little heat. The washer and dryer is a juggle, cannot open the washer fully. Everything is cheap with budget brands. Truly years of thick dirt & grim under everything. Yes we complained while there & only sending cleaner to go through all the issues with us was their solution. No thank you, it is not our job and the place made us ill. We wasted hours and days on this with agent to no avail, just long emails.

Throughout your stay, our team took your concerns seriously and made considerable efforts to investigate the matters raised while you were still in residence. We requested supporting photos, remained in regular contact with you, and offered to arrange for the Property Manager to attend the property to inspect the reported issues firsthand and address any concerns that could be remedied during your stay. We understood that your holiday was an important opportunity for rest and that you did not wish to have anyone attend the property. We respected that decision, although it did limit our ability to assess and resolve the concerns while you were in residence. We also offered to arrange any inspection while you were out of the property to minimise disruption to your holiday. As part of our investigation, we also contacted the guests who had stayed at the property immediately prior to your booking. They advised they had not experienced any cleanliness, pest, rodent, or health and safety concerns during their stay. This did not invalidate the concerns you raised, but it formed part of the wider review undertaken. Following your departure, the property was inspected and a number of presentation and maintenance items were identified, including areas that would benefit from a deep clean and general upkeep. However, the more serious allegations, including the reported bed bug infestation and rodent activity, could not be substantiated during the post-stay inspection. We appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention, as this feedback helps identify opportunities for improvement. While we are disappointed that this property was not the right fit for your expectations, we thank you for taking the time to share your experience and wish you and your husband all the best. Fabulous location. It was a wet weekend so we really enjoyed the open fire. the property only has one proper bedroom, a sleepout and bunk beds in a corridor. we had to contact the manager to get the extra linen we needed, and this was delivered

A relaxing spot!

We had a very relaxing stay we stay during the week so very quiet. Bach right on the river and a short walk to the river mouth where my husband spent most of his time. Very kiwi bach lovely out door area to sit and relax listening to the bell birds and Tui's and watch a few trout rising. It was a bit windY for fly fishing off the lawn. But loved our stay thank you.

Bach with the best view in town

This Bach is in an amazing location and has the best view. Right on the river with lots of native birds around. Bliss. Having use of the kayaks and the amazing outdoor bbq and fireplace was fantastic. The girls enjoyed having their own space in the sleep out and I enjoyed the main house. Even though the Bach itself needs some tlc, the view and location more than makes up for it.

Enchanting place

The location of the bach is magical. Directly on the river with amazing views of the water and the cliffs. The batch is lovely with very well equipped kitchen. A bit small but very nice and quaint for the 4 of us. Unfortunately we had fairly bad weather so we weren't able to enjoy sitting outdoors as much as we would have liked. Maybe a bit over priced, but definitely a lovely spot. Rose, Remi, Ben and Kayla

Beautiful spot, great bird life, restful!!. Batch great for small group of friends to wine and dine, though kitchen was a bit of a challenge (single lane only)it was well appointed with glasses and serving dishes and BBQ outside was great. Loved paddling up the river and onto the lake. only issues were emails to batch care - I did not get responses to any emails, so I had to call.

Very nice location...very small, very simple house

The property is in an very nice location...right on a very picturesque river. My group felt it was more of a fish camp than a house. If you plan to stay outside on the deck or the river 90% of the time you will probably love it. If you have to spend a significant amount of time inside you will find it cramped, with worn-out furniture and uncomfortable beds. It is operated by a management company and not the owner. When I messaged questions I received canned/chatbot type of responses. There were no special touches indicated that they really cared about their guests.

Beautiful

We loved our stay at Kingfisher. The bach itself is rustic but, lots of chairs outside to enjoy the beautiful views. Quiet and private. The kayaks and extra life jackets were a added bonus, as well as the beautiful outdoor fire. Our dogs loved the stay also which is always a bonus to be able to take them as they are loved members of our family. The only rule for the dogs was to clean up after them ( which all dog owners should do anyway) I was a bit disappointed that there was no clear instructions to the location of wood or clearer instruction to rubbish bags. I was under the understanding also that there would be cleaning solutions provided. There was a capful of dishsoap which was annoying when we tried to do dishes. However this did not take away from this beautiful spot and the clean well equipped bach. I would definitely recommend this wonderful piece of the past. Thankyou Colleen and Family

Relaxing winter getaway.

Nice relaxing spot on the river. Cute cottage with great outside area. Lovely spot to just sit back , relax and enjoy the scenery. Host was great to put heating on before we arrived on a very wintery day.

Great location.

Great location. River in the backyard with an open fire.....where else would you get that? This is exactly what we were looking for. Perfect place to relax and forget the hustle & bustle of daily life. We will be back.
