Nestled right on the lake edge, Lakefront Retreat is perfect for all ages, offering an idyllic base for trekking, skiing, fishing, and lake activities or a place to refresh and unwind from daily life.

Outside, the expansive front lawn stretches right to the lake, perfect for outdoor play and relaxation. Extensive decks connect the front lawn to spacious living areas with underfloor heating and two fireplaces for warmth and comfort during the cold winter season, and shade and cool during the heat of summer. The lounge invites you to unwind in your choice of deep leather or traditional lounge suites or you can stretch out on one of two window seats – one looking out at the lake, and the other to the orchard behind.

The fully equipped kitchen and family/dining area provides all the amenities for meals and gatherings which, in the summer, can flow seamlessly through wide sliding doors to the lake-facing deck for barbecues under a starlit sky unpolluted by urban lights.

The upstairs Master bedroom has a TV, reading area, a day bed, and a private lake-facing deck with a table and chairs. Bedroom 2 on the ground floor has lake views through French doors opening out onto the front deck. The upstairs loft bedroom has a reading area, books and an open play area. The bathrooms are well-appointed and convenient to every bedroom with an additional toilet and shower in the ground floor laundry.

Accessed off a 60kph stretch of Highway 1, traffic noise from behind the high fence and the hedge is audible but not intrusive. There is ample parking on the lawn behind the house. The local store and Challenge service station are both just a couple of minutes away for daily groceries while Tūrangi is just over 10 minutes South and Taupō less than 40 minutes North for the bigger shops.

Within 15 minutes you can be fishing the world-renowned Tongariro River or any one of the closer, more intimate rivers (Waiotaka, Waimarino, Tauranga-Taupō). The lake beckons swimmers, boaties, fishers, skiers and kite-boarders into its clear waters and sandy beach. A public boat ramp is just 2 minutes drive North at Mission Point. There are some lovely walks within half an hour’s drive with the Central Plateau mountains and Taupō tourist attractions a little farther afield.

All guests should take care around the stairwell barrier on the mezzanine landing as it is less than 1m high.
