About the property

PRIVATE HOME 22 ACRE HOME WITH RUNNING CREEK PRIVATE FOREST SPACIOUS HOME

Nestled in the foothills along spring fed Whit Creek, this easily accessible, yet private 22 acre property lies halfway between Cody and the East entrance of Yellowstone Park, on the "50 most scenic miles in the U.S.A."

During the Prohibition era, Whit Creek was a mecca for moonshiners, among them, Jack Spicer, who was renounced for his brand of moonshine liquor, due in part to the quality of the spring fed water. Coincidentally, Jack was killed in a gunfight on April 1, 1933, the same year Prohibition ended.

Five fenced acres for horses, arena, large lawn area with running creek, circular pull through driveway, fruit, pines, aspen trees, quiet, private forest area.

This home is an Open Design, where the living room, kitchen and dining room are in one large area.

-Kitchen includes all stainless steel: refrigerator, dishwasher, gas stove and KINETKO reverse/osmosis water filter on kitchen sink and ice maker. Hanging utility with pots, pans and utensils, family sized crock pot, Cuisinart blender, microwave and all necessary utensils that any cook would enjoy.

-Living room boasts maple wood floors with enormous "L" shaped sofa, Stereo/TV consul below a wall mount 55" flat screen T.V. WIFI enabled, satellite channels and Playstation.

-Dining area in Great Room has tile floors, an 8' dining table with six chairs, (can add 2 + more), also tall round table with 4 tall pine chairs and a French kitchen nook table with 2 upholstered chairs and bar area. Dining room has a wall of windows (that can open) with incredible panoramic views of Jim "Bridger" Mountain, There is NO Air conditioning, as it's rarely needed. There are overhead fans throughout the upstairs and the downstair is always cool. Clavinova piano/organ, modern treadmill and French doors leading out to the upper, spacious deck with a large patio, propane barbeque, tall outdoor furniture and umbrella (close when windy!)

The carpeted Master Bedroom upstairs has King bed with large dresser, mirrored closet, wall mount flat screen satellite TV, adjoining full bath. Just across is an office/bedroom with a full sofa/sleeper and computer area, windows open to hear the running creek in both bedrooms.

Downstairs Living area provides a large, cool space with leather sofa, chairs and burl coffee table, pool table, full bath, and sleeping alcove with Queen bed. Bedroom can sleep 5 with a Queen bed, full and single pull out mounted TV, DVD player and movie and book library. Next door is laundry room with washer/dryer and large sink. Sliding glass doors lead to lower level lawn area and creek.

This property is unique in that we have an abundance of birds and wildlife that frequent the Whit Creek eco system. Animals include fox, raccoons, mule deer, grizzly and black bear and an occasional moose. A BIRDER'S PARADISE, you can view: Lazuli buntings, yellow tanagers, western meadowlarks, red shafted flickers, mountain blue birds (we have several houses that they frequent annually), Caliope and Rufus hummingbirds, pink sided name but a few.

We LOVE pets as long as they're not allowed to chase the deer, fox and other wildlife! Be cautious of the critters. There is a $50. cleaning fee per pet for your stay. Do not hunt from our home. Full sized lockable kennel and dog house on property. Please pick up after your pets.

No smoking is allowed inside the home. No fires or fireworks are allowed on the property. Only You can prevent forest fires.

Bear resistant garbage cans next to barn. Pick up is Tuesday mornings.

We hope that you enjoy your vacation at our home and come back as "repeat offenders" where a special discount will be available.

Many good wishes! WYOMING: "Like no place on earth!"

About karen and john

We love Wyoming! have a sea kayaking business on the island of Kauai. We were lucky to find our home in Wapiti Valley and have lived between here and Hawaii for 30 years. Since the grand kids are in Hawaii, we decided to spend our summers with them and make the home available to folks who want a unique property that small groups of families can enjoy.

Why karen and john chose Cody

It's private, on a private road, out of the wind and surrounded by beautiful mountains, running creek, fruit, pine and aspen trees, a birder's mecca with frequent wildlife. Please no fire or fireworks! Remember, only You can prevent forest fires!

What makes this house unique

Horse property has a circular driveway, easily accessible by car and lawn surrounds the entire home, with private creek and private forest. 5 acres fenced for horses, corrals and small riding arena.

Lovely home and a great vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a great time. We had four adults and two children. There was lots of room for everyone to stretch out and unwind at the end of the day. The house is convenient to Yellowstone, Cody and the Shoshone forest. There is so much to do that a week barely scratches the surface.

Pleasantly surprised by property & scenic views!

  • 5 of 5

Family of 5 stayed a week in this house. Drove through Park every day & came back to Rancho Godinez in the evening feeling like we were coming home. Very comfy, nicely decorated, comfy beds. Little rough in places but it is an older house. Had several games on the pool table. Scenery around house was amazing too. We were pretty much half way between Park & Cody. We would definitely stay here again. VRBO pictures don’t do the area justice. Great stay!

Great location . . . disappointed with a few things

  • 2 of 5

Location was good and first impression was good. Cleanliness was very poor. Had to vacuum basement and bathrooms for dead bugs, lots of live spiders, cob webs and dead bugs are abundant in all the light fixtures. We also had to clean kitchen and stove before using. There was no drain plug for the kitchen sink and had to wash most of the dishes before using them. There are 2 futons couches for sleeping but had to wash sheets before using and comforters and pillows were thrown on the closet floors ....Description of 2 queen beds was inaccurate as they are full beds not queen beds. Master bedroom had a king bed, which was nice, but the room/carpet smelled like dog urine. We also had problems with both of the drains in the showers hardly working and problems with the toilet in the master bathroom. Owner did send someone local to resolve that matter. Owner was responsive, but had problems getting the local cleaning crew to come back and properly clean the home. She was able to get one person to come, but the lady said that she was only there to do a quick touch up. She only stayed 20 minutes and left because she had groceries in her car and it was running. Apparently she told the owner that we told her it was "good enough" and she could go. We reported this to the owner, but a full cleaning crew never did come. With deep cleaning and some updating, this property has a lot of potential.

Owner's Response: A muffin left on top of the fridge (same morning by a cleaner), cobwebs under a downstairs bed, a slow draining shower. The plumber arrived within hours to fix the problem. They wanted a discount from day one, and I had already sent them a discount for inoperable jacuzzi before they arrived at the house, because they insisted that they only wanted the place Because of the jacuzzi. The lady I spoke with about the muffin and other complaints told me that everything had been taken care of and she only wanted me to be aware that things weren't up to their standards, in case I was out of state. Without her asking, I sent a gal out to address her concerns same day. There were three families staying at the home at the time she arrived. After that, I received text messages requesting a discount or they would "reach out" to VRBO. I replied ON VRBO that a discount was unwarranted. They complained that I was unresponsive, yet I replied to all (and they were Endless) of their concerns right away. They have continued to text me messages (yesterday) because they didn't approve of their guest review from me and because VRBO didn't award them a discount. My cleaners are professional, hardworking and thorough. These people were never going to be happy without that discount.
