Welcome to our cozy traditional Cretan cottage by our lake..
if you are looking for authentic cretan hospitality, Cretan tradition and rural and untouched nature, you are looking at the ideal place!
our cottage consists of 2 double bedrooms (one doublebed & one with twin beds), a kithen-dinning and living area and 2 toilets.
the house is fully equipped and operates during the whole year. Rethymno town its 20 km, plakias beach and triopetra its 15km, agios antonios gorge its 5km

It's for people that don't want the town noise to relax in swimming pool, to eat fruits from the 20 different fruits tree and to enjoy the beautiful natural area in 20 acres field.. Irakleio airport is 80 km ,Chania airport is 55 km , and banks,supermarkets,coffee bar,restaurants is at 3 km away from the house!!!

Quiet secluded place for relaxing holiday

Very nice host and extremely helpful. We loved our stay here. The mountains around southern Crete are stunning. Very close to botanical gardens with a cafe which are really worth a visit

Quiet and relaxing

The most relaxing holiday we have experienced...! Would have been nice to use the seating area by the lake but it was fenced off and overgrown. Nikos the host was very welcoming and always available if needed. Would definitely return, with a few improvements

Wonderful house with great view

Very nice house fully equiped (kitchen, bathroom, fireplace...) with a garden and a private pool. The view from the terace is really great. The place is quite but you have everything that you need in the village (3 minutes by car). Perfect for a family with kids. They can see lot of animals (horse, duck, goose). Nikos is a great host. The communication with him is really easy and fast. Thank you for all (and the raki). Gonzague

This place is a piece of heaven and the pictures don't do justice. The hosts are incredibly nice and always checked and made sure we are happy and have everything. The house inside is beautiful ( traditional cretan) and clean with lots of space, confortable beds, very cool compared with other places we've stayed. Yes it has AC but we didn't have to use it after a hot day at the beach. Brilliant location for visiting lots of places, amazing view and privacy, good size swimming pool and a incredible wildlife around the house and the lake. We just spent evenings in the garden listening to the birds and other animals around. The house has its own cat( Skia) - which means Shadow which is so lovely and polite. Nikos it's the best host and such an incredible guy and for that reason we highly recommend this place. Thank you guys for having us, will miss you lots. See you again in 11 monthsLove Andrea and George

A lovely spot for an out-of-the-way break

Quiet and rural, relaxing and nature-immersed, the villa was an ideal spot for an early summer break. Nikos was the perfect host, attentive and communicative but not over-bearing, simply offering guidance and support when needed. The villa is relatively simple, but perfectly and comfortably functional, clean and suffiiciently-equipped. The garden and surrounds were naturally beautiful, with cats, peacocks and swallows regular visitors, plus the added bonus of a single-eppearance shrew. The pool is ideal size for a family of three, and its relative shallowness would suit familes with young children. Friendly and fine local restaurants abound, be they the two local ones around four and seven minutes' drives (in Lampini and Mixorrouma), or a sheer glut of them in Spili, an easy ten-minute car journey, The local village Mixorrouma also offers a small supermarket, with two larger ones in Spili. A perfect place for that much-needed away-from-it-all holiday, and thanks to Nikos and his family for the welcome, friendliness and local food-and-drink gifts (especially the raki).

Rural place in beautiful nature

People who love nature, animals and quiet surroundings will definitely love this place, like we do. In the morning you give a bit of oats to the 2 horses, you see ducks in your garden and geese looking for attention while the big fish in the pond are waiting for a little bit of left overs from the bread. Swallows come to drink at the pond as well and in the evening you get a lovely concert from the frogs. 2 cats we called Minou and Rambo are also present, one is very affectionate, Rambo just comes by for some food every 3 days and goes on his mission again. The hoouse has 2 bedrooms, a large living room and a shower in the bathroom/toilet. For people who are looking for a fully equiped kitchen it might be a bit too basic but we enjoyed the 2 restaurants with good lovely food. O Sideras in Lampini, very lovely owners and they even make meals on order if it is not on the menu and you are able to wait for a day, or 2 for them to prepare. Petrokofino in Myxorrouma, also very close by, is a perfect location to taste there greek meals. We loved the stay, Nikos and his father are very nice hosts, they bring some groceries and wine + raki, which is a nice gesture.

Es war alles so wie beschrieben. Ab und zu liefen ein paar Vögel über das Grundstück. Pfauen und ab und zu Hühner. Alle scheu. Haus ist in ca. 450 m Höhe. Absolute Stille. Ruhe. Jede Woche wurden das Bettzeug und die Handtücher gewechselt. Ein neues Grillrost, Holzkohle, Anzünder, Der Spiegel etc. wurden von Nikos besorgt. Der Holzkohlegrill ist gut zu benutzen. Absolut zu empfehlen. Vor allen Dingen wegen der Bevölkerung. Alle sehr nett, freundlich. Toll. Weniger toll war der Müll, welcher überall am Straßenrand etc. herum flog. Der unbeheizte Pool ist ca. 140 cm tief. Es ist oben schlecht zu finden. Am besten anrufen und sich lotsen lassen (Nikos Bruder mit Moped?) Ein unbefestigter Weg in einer Kurve zweigt von der geteerten Straße ohne Hinweisschild ab. Navi lotst richtig.
Grundstück vom Tor aus. PKW davor parken. Oben am Tor ist ein Riegel.
Wohnraum. Beide Schlafzimmer zweigen rechts davon ab.
WC und Waschbecken mit Kaltwasser sind von der Dusche und einem weiteren Waschbecken mit warmen Wasser plus Waschmaschine getrennt.
Hauptschlafzimmer. Mit Verdunkelungsrollos.

Heerlijk rustig verblijf

Huisje ligt heerlijk rustig op een groot stuk grond, met een eigen zwembad. Behalve vogels, pauwen en kikkers hoor je niets. De keukenuitrusting is erg basic. Twee gezellige katten. Wij hebben steeds bij Petrokino in Mixorouma gegeten, een paar minuten met de auto. Daarnaast zit de supermarkt/bakkerij.

Séjour à la maison du lac

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour de 15 jours à Lampini. Les extérieurs ombragés et la piscine sont très agréables l’été. La maison est au calme dans région de Spili ( qui reste pas trop touristique l’été), à 30mn des belles plages de Preveli et Plakias mais aussi de Rethymnon et Arkadi. Un grand merci à Nikos pour son accueil prévenant et sa disponibilité !

Quiet, Rustic Getaway

If you're looking for a quiet, rustic getaway , this is your place. The village has a decent market, the town taverna and coffee / bakery is also very good. No need to go far if you don't want to. If you do want to venture out, Spili is quite close and places like Preveli palm beach, Rethymno and others are all within a reasonable driving distance. The hosts were very friendly, accomodating, and responsive. Thank you J

Lovely Cretan Countryside Spot

A proper cretan property on it's own in the hills but within minutes of supermarkets

When we booked this property that has a lake we were worried there might be lots of mosquitoes....dont know if it's the cool mountain air but we have had no problems ..we sleep with the window open above the bed, it has a fly screen as do all the windows the cool breeze of the mountain air is much better than aircon.......the property is what we would call rustic...everything is here you would need..plackas and its beach is a 25 min drive away there are lots of taverns around in the local villages..the locations quite ummm there are frogs and crickets so you will get the sound of the country ...the pool is sufficient on a hot day as there are many ....cant fault the owners who are very generous with some home made wine and are very nice people ...a car is required as there is so much to see ......the propertie is up a winding road as are most or the roads in the area

Perfekte Entspannung

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt im "Haus am See" sehr genossen. Bei der Ankunft am Abend wurden wir von Nikos Vater und dem Frösche Chor begrüßt. Das Haus liegt auf einem großen Grundstück, so dass man wirklich absolute Ruhe hat - bis auf die Geräusche der Natur. Der Frösche-Chor hat uns gut gefallen und überhaupt nicht gestört. Da es nachts sowieso angenehm abgekühlt hat, konnte man die Türen und Fenster schließen und hat fast nichts mehr von den Fröschen gehört. Nikos Vater hat jeden Tag kurz vorbeigeschaut und einmal wurden wir sogar zum Abendessen eingeladen. Es war ein sehr gemütlicher Abend am Haus am See. Wir konnten den Aufenthalt wirklich sehr genießen. Ein perfekter Urlaub zum "Entschleunigen". Auch der nahe gelegene Ort mit Supermarkt und Bäckerei ist ein sehr gemütliches Dörfchen, in dem man - auch wenn man nicht griechisch kann - trotzdem mit den Einwohnern ins Gespräch kommt. Ein schöner Urlaub fernab der großen Touri-Ströme. Im nahen Spili gibt es dann aber auch einige Tavernen und Souvenir-Läden. Zu den Stränden im Süden oder Norden ist es ca. eine halbe bis dreiviertel Stunde Fahrzeit. Auch hier hat man die Wahl zwischen "einsamen" Stränden oder Stränden mit Liegen und Sonnenschirmen.

Haus am Teich

Das Haus liegt sehr schön, man ist von allen Seiten geschützt und hat keine direkten Nachbarn. Das Land ist grosszügig. Der Teich ist toll mit Fischen und Fröschen, Froschkonzert gibt es 24 Stunden umsonst ;) Das Boot haben wir nicht benuzt, der innen Boden ist kaputt. Es gibt lauschige Plätze, leider ist der Garten ungepflegt. Abfall in den Büschen und Boden vermoost. Der Pool wird weder mit Chemikalien,Pumpe oder Roboter betrieben, was bedeutet das er gegen Ende des Urlaubes in einem üblem Zustand ist. Das Haus ist spartanisch. Die Küche ist seeehr spärlich eingerichtet. Bratpfanne in sehr schlechtem Zustand, Geschirr mussten wir erst abwaschen. Der "Kochherd" bietet wenig Platz, Grill ist aber vorhanden. Aussenlavabo musste ich erst sauber schruppen. Nikos der Vermieter ist ein toller unkomplizierter Typ.

Geweldige lokatie, sfeervol en apart.

We hebben een fantastische tijd gehad in het "Traditional Lake House". We werden ontzettend gastvrij ontvangen door de vriendelijke en hulpvaardige eigenaars. Het huis is heel apart. Groot genoeg voor ons vieren. Grote woon -en slaapkamers. De keuken inrichting is eenvoudig maar volstaat prima. De tuin buiten is heerlijk. Vrij van buren en inkijk. Voldoende schaduw, lekker zwembadje, hangmatje, vijgenbomen, roofvogels in de lucht, geluid van geitenbellen in de verte. Zwaluwen en ijsvogels boven het meertje. De eigenaren hebben veel werk gemaakt om het vakantiegangers naar de zin te maken. Het vlakbij gelegen dorpje Spili is een erg aardig dorpje met winkels en restaurants. We hebben veel van de omgeving gezien. Wandelen door de Preveli- en Kourtaliotiskloof is een aanrader. Ook de vlakbij gelegen botanische tuin is leuk. Met de auto zijn de stranden makkelijk te bereiken. Wij waren onder de indruk van de stranden Triopetra en Ligres. Een dagje naar Rethymnon met het oude centrum is erg leuk. Kortom, wij hebben hele fijne herinneringen aan onze vakantie in het Lake House.

The house is in brilliant location

The location of the house makes up for its rustic interior. The facilities are fine - the only problem was with the woodturner - a broken glass made it smoke into the room - fortunately it was warm enough not to be required. Nikos' farther looked after us - waiting more than an hr because our flight was delayed & provided a top up of local wine FOC & a welcoming snack with Raki. We stayed for a week early may - if you don't like frogs then be aware the pond is full of them and they sing all the time! We will return and stay again
