Riversmeet is overlooking the stunning river and creek side views, close to the local family friendly pub and parks. You’ll love this place because of the tranquil location and cosy cottage feel with beautiful views yet being only 2km from the city centre. The downstairs is open plan to include the lounge and kitchen. There is a table that opens up for 4 places with 4 dining room chairs. An under stairs cupboard provides coat hooks, handy storage space for you and cleaning items if you need them. The lounge area has a pair of matching two seater sofa's surrounding the open wood burner and TV and DVD player. There are also books, DVD's, music system and boardgames for your enjoyment. The kitchen is fully equipped for your cooking needs. Upstairs the front bedroom has spectacular views of the river, the double bed and a large integral wardrobe. The other bedroom has two deluxe single beds, French doors and a full-length mirror with clothes hanging space. Both rooms have a large chest of drawers to keep your clothes in. The spacious bathroom is located between the two bedrooms which has a bath with shower, sink, toilet, heated towel rail and a cupboard with full length mirror. The cottage is fully carpeted upstairs, including the stairs, apart from the tiled floor bathroom. Downstairs is tiled with a plush rug in the seated area of the lounge and a hardwearing mat in the kitchen. There is a tiered garden at the back of the property that can be accessed by the kitchen door or by walking around the end terrace cottage. The top tier of the garden boasts panoramic views of the beautiful river with an enclosed decking area, seating and bbq.

There is communal access around the terrace of cottages and a large tiered private garden for Riversmeet at the back of the property. This can be accessed by the kitchen door or by walking around the end terrace cottage. The top tier of the garden boasts panoramic views of the beautiful river with an enclosed decking area, seating and bbq. There is free parking on the road in front of the property and 8 steps up to the front 'stable' door with a small patio for a chair and some potted plants.

About Elaine

I am enjoying my retirement in Truro and have lots of interests keeping me busy. I am creative and arty. My daughter and grandchildren live nearby and I help out whenever needed. My daughter also helps me manage Riversmeet. I fell in love with Riversmeet when I first looked around it. It's a quaint cottage but it still feels airy and spacious. The modern tiled, open plan design downstairs with wood burner helps this feeling. Upstairs is also newly decorated and carpeted.

Elaine purchased this cottage in 2016

Why Elaine chose Saint Clement

The sleepy village of Malpas belies an undercurrent of activity and is a popular dwelling for locals. There is a lovely family pub, community centre, ferry and a strong, resident spirit where many village activities are organised. There is a beautiful creek side view which all the residents can benefit from as their properties all face the river. There is no through road which significantly reduces the traffic in Malpas and a delightful countryside walk to the nearby village of St Clements.

What makes this cottage unique

The close proximity to the family, local pub means cooking is not a necessity when on holiday. There is a ferry outside Riversmeet which takes you to Falmouth and St Mawes for the National Maritime museum, 'Ships and Castle' swimming pool and gym, castles, fish and chips, many lovely pubs, beaches and shops. The lovely Boscawen park with tennis courts, new play area, football pitches, cricket club, duck pond, restaurant is half a mile away. Truro city is a 2 minute car journey or bus ride away with plenty of shops and restaurants to try out. The cinema, theatre, museum, bowling alley can all be found there.

Lovely cosy cottage in a stunning setting!

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely place to stay in a great location. Views over the river from the top of the garden were superb. The nearby pub was friendly and served excellent meals including leisurely breakfasts overlooking the river. The trip by ferry to St Mawes was fabulous. House in a great position to visit other places of interest. The house was clean and comfy and made a great base!

Great location with lovely views

  • 5 of 5

A very nicely presented and atmospheric cottage. Beautiful views from main bedroom and from terrace. Small terrace with bench in front of cottage, garden on several steep levels, top of which is a new decked terrace with table and chairs. We used this for outdoor cooking but running in and out of the kitchen is not an option, so if you do it you need to be prepared carrying stuff out. There are a few plastic buckets which help save a few trips. We were a fit family of 4, youngest age 12. The owner allows pets and we booked with this in mind. However as a last minute decision we left the dog at home and were happy for it. We could not have let the dog out into the garden as there is a walkway with open access to the road in front at each end. Ours is a larger energetic dog. A small or old animal on lead maybe just fine. A nice touch is the welcome scones, jam, tea, coffee, eggs and milk, thank you very much. Great walks on the doorstep and 30 minutes from just about anywhere in South Cornwall. Also liked flexibility of booking Sunday to Sunday.

This was a 2 story unit and not a cottage as advertised

  • 3 of 5

We were initially disappointed that this was not a single story cottage instead it was a 2 story unit within a Terranced apartment block with very limited car spaces. This add that was supplied was very misleading.

In saying that the property was well appointed in a great location.

Elaine kindly provided a hair dryer which was not included. We are three mature travellers planing day trips and coastal walks and to have a washing machine was great. However the clothes lines up the back was overgrown and there were no pegs, which we bought. The inside clothes aired needed instructions or was broken.

We did enjoy Malpas and the location was great and quiet. Lovely views on the top terrace. The 40 minute walk into town was very pleasant.

Owner's Response: I’m sorry you were initially disappointed with the cottage that was not single storey. It was not advertised as a bungalow. The cottage is one of a terrace of dwellings built in the 1800’s. Thank you for the pegs and we will leave instructions for future guests on how to use the indoor airer. I’m glad you agree with advert that the location is great and quiet with lovely views.

+ well located for exploring Cornwall

+ nice pub nearby & stunning views from garden terrace

+ although slim cut: house offers all you need in terms of kitchen equipment, entertainment electronics, storage space

+ very good beds & mattresses

+ friendly contact with landlord Elaine

- could have been a little cleaner at the beginning with spider webs and dust layers in some places
