Adorable Cottage House

Adorable 1940-era cottage-style one bedroom home in Roxboro, North Carolina, located in the piedmont of North Carolina. Great for extended-stay housing, corporate housing, lodging for Duke Hospital(30 minute drive), lodging for Duke Energy's Hyco & Mayo power plants.

This cozy, comfy, house has one furnished bedroom, with queen-size bed, a full-size bathroom and kitchen, wireless hi-speed internet, HD Smart TV with Spectrum service, and great cell phone signal strength. Although we are 'pet-friendly', there is a limit of one dog, no cats allowed. And we must know the age and breed of the dog before we will grant permission. There is also a non-refundable pet fee of $150, paid upon move-in.
This 900 square-foot house is located in Roxboro, NC, which is within one hour's drive from Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, NC, plus Danville and South Boston, VA. There are wonderful museums nearby, and plenty of southern plantations to tour in nearby Halifax County, VA.

Two large local public lakes (Hyco & Mayo Lakes) offer wonderful opportunities for sunning, swimming, great crappie & bass fishing (from the bank or your boat), skiing, tubing, wakeboarding (if you bring your boat), kayak & canoe rentals, boat launch, amphitheatre, walking trails, wildlife viewing deck, and all other water-related activities. Duke University Hospital & the Durham Bulls minor league baseball games (good, family fun that you can afford) are less than 40 minutes away. This little cottage is a nice alternative for someone wanting more space, privacy, and amenities than a motel motel-type rates. It is older, but has new windows, efficient heating/air system, and clean.

You're within 5 minutes of 2 (chain) grocery stores, all the regular fast food restaurants, shopping, & quality locally owned & operated Steak, Seafood, Italian, & Mexican restaurants. You're 10 minutes from Palace Pointe Family Entertainment. Palace Pointe is very unique because it has all under one roof 20 bowling lanes, 8 movie theatres, video arcade, rollerskating, 7 billiards tables, & food diner. Orange County Speedway, Person County Drag Strip, & South Boston Motor Speedway are all within a 30 minute drive. You can get to UNC at Chapel Hill in 50 minutes, RDU airport in 65 minutes, Raleigh & Hurricanes NHL Hockey games, RBC Center, & CASL Soccer Complex in 70 minutes, Cary & WakeMed Soccer Stadium (NCAA Finals the past 2 years) & USA Baseball National Training Complex in 65 minutes, the new state of the art DPAC (Durham Performing Arts Center) that we in the Triangle are so proud of in 35 minutes. Cute and close!
This little house was perfect. It was 2 minutes from the clinic at which I was working. It was clean and had virtually everything I would need. One tiny snafu occurred when the microwave broke, but Kathy had a new one for me on the porch the very next day. The listing indicated a DVD player was present but it wasn't there. Kathy changed the listing, after offering to bring a DVD player, which I refused, as it wasn't a big deal. Overall Kathy was an excellent communicator and very attentive and kind.

Comfy cottage
Perfect size for one or two. Nice decor. Comfortable AC and heat. Plenty of utensils. Bed was great. Plenty of room to relax.

I caught 2 mice while i was there. We had ants. She did send out an exterminator. After paying for 35 days upfront i asked to pay biweekly and she was not willing to do that so i was forced to pay another 30 days and only stayed for about 8 with no refund. The place was older , had a washer and dryer, and was convenient to the duke energy plant.

2 month stay with pup!
We loved this little spot, super close to the grocery stores and had the right amount of space with a nice yard for our dog! We stayed for 2 months and it was perfect for what needed, kathy was very responsive and helpful if we come back in the area we would stay again!

Just what we needed
The cottage was just what we needed. But more than that, the owners were just what we needed. Whether it was adding another month to our stay or fixing something on the property the hospitality expressed was a welcomed attitude. Thank you Bradsher's!

Accommodating!
Accommodation. It's what we call a hotel room. But it's also an attitude. It's how you treat people who need a place to stay but they don't quite fit into the norms. That would describe our situation as we were waiting for our house to be finished. At every point that would make things difficult Arch and Kathy would step up and become "accommodating." So my recommendation to you is this: Look beyond the property to see the people! Wonderful owners that accommodated us so we could move when we needed to, not just when a contract said so.

I have no complaints about the house, it’s comfortable and in a convenient location. The internet works great, the hot water is plenty hot enough, and the bed is comfortable- these are things that matter most to me. The owners are super nice people, and always a phone call away.

Disappointed in house condition. Looked clean and inviting online .
broken window in front bedroom made wife afraid - kitchen stove was grease covered and floor was dirty around stove. Back bedroom had damage in ceiling did not want to sleep under. bathroom had mold issues and stains on walls. Also had trouble turning water off on shower. Would stay again but only if these things were corrected.Wife had to clean washer and dryer before we could use them - Curtains in laundry room covered with dryer lint -wife had to clean them down.

This solid, sturdy, tight little house was built in the 1940s, & like you find in so many small towns across America, although it's in a residential neighborhood, it was my Dad's office for 30 years until he passed away in 1998. In 2005 my wife, Kathy, & I talked to Mom about renovating, furnishing, & renting it to vacationers, businessmen, & travelers of all sorts. Kathy & I manage the rentals for Mom, whose getting on in years, but still doing well. Our guest lodgers have really enjoyed it, & they have taken good care of it. With a refreshed bathroom, kitchen, appliances, queensize bed, color TV, HS internet, this 'cottage' has become a 'good fit' for travelers to our small hometown & rural county, 'a quality that's affordable'. Kathy & I grew up in Roxboro & Person County, & we're extremely proud of what will always be home for us. Sincerely, Arch & Kathy.
