About this property

Perfect Family Beach Retreat w/ Pool, Walk to Beach, Fully Renovated

Come enjoy this beautifully renovated Pacific Beach home! Only five blocks to the incredible Law St. beach! The inside amenities are just as spectacular as the vast glistening pool (a rarity in the area) and patios on the outside!

Beginning in the summer of 2023, the home will become a monthly minimum rental due to San Diego's new STVR restrictions. Please contact us to inquire about additional discounts for long-term stays.

The house is complete with two spacious living areas, a large dining room, a sparkling new kitchen with an eating area, three bedrooms, and two luxurious bathrooms.

The living areas provide plenty of seating and space for guests, and each includes a flat screen TV and DVD player. There is also one gas fireplace in the home, perfect for those chilly coastal nights. The carpet in this room--known as the family room--has been replaced with beautiful tile as of June 2024. The kitchen includes all standard appliances (fridge, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave), as well as a Keurig for your morning coffee and a wine cooler for your evening drink. The kitchen is fully stocked with dinnerware, glassware, utensils, and basic cooking accessories, and even includes outdoor dining sets to enjoy on the peaceful patio. Two bedrooms (king, queen) include large dressers and closets, and the third bedroom (twins) has a closet with organizers. All bedrooms have a flat screen TV. The bathrooms each have double sinks, large vanities, and soothing showers (hall bath is a tub/shower combo). The hall cabinets house plenty of pool towels and extra linens, but there is also a washer and dryer included in the home as well.

Outside are two sizable private patios complete with a dining table and lounge furniture. The fully gated pool and relaxing pool deck are perfect for children and adults alike. The pool is not heated at any time.

We also provide vacationers with boogie boards, beach chairs and other leisure gear designed to enhance your stay!

Family-friendly neighborhood, no loud parties. No large gatherings of any kind. Very quiet family area. No smoking, vaping, e-cigarettes or drugs of any kind are allowed anywhere on the property--this includes the interior and exterior of the home. Non-compliance will result in guests being asked to leave the property for the remainder of their stay.

The host requires you complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds, gather used towels, and store extra beds
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks, and take out the trash
Turn off the lights, lock the doors, and return the keys
Please put dishes/pots/pans away in their proper place. Leave all used towels/bedding on the floor by the laundry closet--please do not leave them on the hardwood floors.
Leave blue house book on kitchen counter. Leave one house key in the lockbox and the extras on the kitchen counter. Please lock all patio doors, front and side doors. Garage door shut/pool gate locked
Dispose of all food in cupboards and refrigerator/freezer in the outside trash containers.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
This is a very quiet neighborhood. Best for quieter families. Noise ordinances exist.Patio/pool (not heated) hrs. vary. No outside music/profanity.
Parties/loud behavior are not tolerated anywhere on the property. You may be asked to leave with no refund should you not comply with house rules.
Only owner has access to garage and may access it without entering the home when needed. We are mindful of guest's privacy at all times.

Great Location

The property has a great location with walking distance to the beach and nearby stores. The bathrooms and kitchen were very clean. We enjoyed cooking in and eating at the large dining room table.

Amazing stay!

I have nothing but positive things to say about this house and the host. We were only supposed to stay there for a couple of months and ended up staying for eight months, so that should tell you everything! Sue was an incredibly thoughtful host. The house was in incredible condition, really close to the beach, and well-maintained. It was a 10 out of 10 experience, and I certainly recommend staying here!

Wonderful Beach House

My five friends and I were staying at the lovely beach house. We had a great time. The house is fully furnished and located right by the beach. Our personal highlight: the big pool! Stores, restaurants, and bars are in walking distance. I can highly recommend the house!

Good house, great Location and even better host!

The house was nice and comfortable. The pool and outdoor seating made it hard to leave although this Pacific Beach location seems to be 15 minutes from EVERYTHING we wanted to see and do. So perfect. Considering all of this, what topped it all was our host Sue. We’ve stayed at countless rental homes over the years and never have we encountered such warmth, thoughtfulness and kindness. Memorable trip. Sue made it unforgettable.

Pacific Beach House Vacation

We stayed for a second year the first 7 days in August. The pool was excellent and enjoyed every day. We went to the Del Coronado one day. Otherwise lots of beach walks, biking, grilling, excellent carryouts, and pool. A wonderful relaxing family vacation. We will return next summer.

Sue’s house is in a great location and the comes with all kinds of extras, like bikes, boogie boards and beach toys. Sue is friendly and very communicative, too. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back!

Solid Home for a Family to Stay

The host was gracious and very communicative and straightforward. Five stars for her communication. The place was spacious. It was nice having a pool, and being about a 20 min walk (with kids, prob less for others) to the beach was great. The only cons were that place/appliances were a bit dated, and while there were pots/pans, we had to stock up from scratch including cooking oil, salt, and toiletries like shampoo/conditioner. I did communicate this to the host who stopped providing due to COVID and was receptive to the feedback!

Highly recommend

Our extended family used this home for a local staycation and had the best time. All the bedrooms were clean and inviting, the kitchen was large, and having 2 bathrooms was super helpful. The pool is huge and we used it multiple times each day. Great location with plenty of street parking, I know host was quick to respond the few times we had a question. Highly recommend staying at this home

Pleasant beach town retreat

The house is charming, older but well maintained and just the right size for two small families. The owner was very communicative and professional. Plenty of space to park on the street and conveniently located around San Diego attractions and the beach. It’s definitely a bring your own everything rental (incl shampoo), so be prepared to take a trip or two to the store to get what you need. We rented all baby gear through BabyQuip to provide for pack n plays, seating and toys. There are strict rules about noise in the neighborhood, but again, the owner was clear about them early on. A nice stay for a quick trip!

Wonderful experience

Great place, location, communication..........everything great. Only suggestions are to keep in mind when buying your food for extended stay, don't forget food storage. I.E storage tubs, plastic baggies, tin foil, plastic wraps etc etc. Also watch out for the hand soap dispensers in bathrooms. Comes out like a rocket and will get you in the shirt if your not paying attention. Pool was comfortable when we could use and the house is quite comfortable. Enjoy the area!

Carlson Cottage - July 2021

We very much enjoyed our family vacation at the Carlson Cottage. Everyone loved the pool especially our grandsons, 6 and 14 months, their Mom and Dad, and grandma and grandpa.
