Chateau la Gontrie es una base ideal para descubrir todas las bellezas y tesoros de Burdeos y su región. Disfrutará de todas las comodidades modernas de una casa de vacaciones totalmente independiente enclavada en una tranquila campiña montañosa en una bodega familiar. El enólogo y propietario Jean-Louis (bilingüe en inglés) y Nola (su esposa australiana) estarán encantados de compartir su pasión por Burdeos y su región y estarán encantados de ayudarle a que sus vacaciones sean una experiencia muy agradable.

Puede relajarse en esta propiedad de 11 hectáreas, rodeada por los jardines, las vides y el bosque de Château la Gontrie. A menos de 50 metros de la casa de vacaciones hay una gran zona de piscina (segura para niños) con una piscina compartida de 12m x 6m. Este remanso de paz está a solo 20 minutos de Burdeos.

Descripción de la casa de vacaciones: Le Relais: 2 dormitorios - 2 a 4 personas + 1 cama infantil:

La fachada de la casa Le Relais se construyó con la típica piedra arenisca de Burdeos, que forma parte del edificio principal orientado al oeste. Esta casa luminosa y colorida tiene todos los activos de una casa moderna, acceso gratuito a Internet Wi-Fi, sofá, camas cómodas de TV, cocina bien equipada.

La planta baja consta de una gran sala de estar y comedor, una cocina independiente, una lavandería y un aseo.

En el primer piso, un rellano conduce a: una habitación para padres con una cama de 1,6m x 2m y una habitación doble con 2 camas de 1m x 2m. Bajo petición, se puede añadir una cama supletoria para un niño menor de 10 años en la habitación doble. Cada habitación tiene su propio baño (ducha, lavabo e inodoro)
El jardín del Relais está equipado con una barbacoa, una mesa y sillas de jardín.

Si se aloja en una propiedad vinícola de propiedad familiar, se beneficiará de una visita gratuita en inglés de la viña, la bodega y la degustación de nuestros 6 vinos diferentes. Esta visita y cata de vinos dura aproximadamente 1 hora y media.

Apasionados por su región, Jean-Louis, Nola y Andréa (su hija) estarán muy felices de compartir su conocimiento local y sus lugares favoritos con usted para ayudarlo a descubrir lo mejor de la zona.

Este es un destino ideal para unas vacaciones familiares o para compartir con un amigo en una casa de vacaciones espaciosa e independiente. Los hermosos alrededores verdes en medio de las viñas te ayudarán a relajarte y experimentar la vida en una bodega familiar de Burdeos.

En el terreno hay tenis de mesa, un área de voleibol y columpios para los niños. También proporcionamos bicicletas gratuitas para ir a nuestra panadería local (800 metros) para los amantes de los cruasanes o para ir a comprar algunas ostras (desde el Bassin d'Arcachon) el domingo por la mañana en el pueblo.

Delightful in all respects

Our one week stay was excellent. Not only was it enjoyable to be staying in a working vineyard/winery but the location was easily accessible to the city and numerous areas of interest. The hosts were very approachable and helpful with visitor information and the accommodation was excellently presented. We rate the property as suitable for a two week plus stay.

Fall trip to Bordeaux

Lovely guesthouse on a beautiful property within a short drive to gorgeous villages and fabulous restaurants. The house was super clean and had more than the usual kitchen supplies. Bathrooms were large and comfortable, as were the beds. The hosts were super friendly and helpful, and we have absolutely no complaints about our stay.

A super visit. The house is comfy and spotless. Kitchen was well supplied with all the cooking equipment we could wish for. We rearly enjoyed the wine tasting, and local oysters. Such great hosts. we look forward to visiting again.

Comfortable, spacious home and gracious hosts!

Our stay at one of the “gites” of Chateau la Gontrie was just wonderful. The cottage is spacious and was spotless when we arrived. The setting is beautiful. Andrea and her father welcomed us and provided us with plenty of ideas for activities in the area that would be enjoyable with our son. The village, about 20 minutes drive from the city of Bordeaux, is lovely as well. It’s a great find!

Bordeaux area Beauty!

What a wonderful opportunity to stay at a working vineyard and have the winemaker give us a tour and tasting! Thank you to the Rives family for all of your travel tips and hospitality. The cottage is a lovely renovated property that was incredibly peaceful. We enjoyed being able to snip some herbs from the garden to add to our meals and walk into town for fresh bread.

Wonderful accommodations

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners were wonderful, vey welcoming and accommodating. The tour of the winery with the owner was a fabulous experience and should not be missed! The only thing to be aware of is that the bedrooms are on the second floor with a steep staircase but manageable. We left our luggage downstairs.

Our holiday started with a warm welcome by Andrea, introducing us to the house, the surroundings and leisure options. A lovely and peaceful site (re-)built by her family. Friends away week

As two couples we booked somewhere to stay in a venue near to Bordeaux, as some of the group were going to the Rugby World Cup, while some of us stayed to paint the stunning countryside. The property was beautiful, kitchen really well equipped, tastefully decorated and spotless. The owners were lovely, really supportive and welcoming. This is a winery, be prepared to sample. A brilliant stay, can't recommend it highly enough.

Another relaxing and enjoyable holiday at Chateau La Gontrie

If you are looking for tranquillity, whilst being close to a lively, vibrant city and the marvellous Atlantic coast this is the ideal place to stay. Fabulous family holiday

We had a fantastic week staying in Le Relais at Chateau La Gontrie. The house is very comfortable, spacious and everything we needed was on hand. We were made to feel very welcome, and Jean Louis provided plenty of useful tips for visiting the local area. Lovely setting among the vineyards, and we got to enjoy their delicious wine. It was a very relaxing and fun week, and we made very good use of the swimming pool!

Peaceful and relaxing

We were moved to the 4 bedroom property which was spacious and had a wonderful outlook over the garden. Very peaceful and the swimming pool was lovely and clean. After busy days exploring the area it is a wonderful relaxing location surrounded by vineyards. Andrea and her family were amazing and very helpful. giving great information for Bordeaux and surrounding area. Wine tasting was very informative and delicious. The gite had a well equipped kitchen, bed linen was crisp and clean. Beds were very comfortable. The shower rooms were small and compacted, there was a lack of shelves in shower room. Towels were small and not plentiful. Luckily we had brought some from home. We had a few minor issues but all were dealt with and sorted quickly. We had a lovely relaxing 3 days.

Relaxing and enjoyable holiday

We were made extremely welcome by Andrea, Nola and Jean-Louis. The property we stayed in was wonderful and was everything we hoped it would be. The estate on which the property was situated was fabulous and being a working vineyard extremely interesting. The pool, surrounding gardens, communal areas and facilities were first rate. We have no complaints to make other than the holiday was too short! Thank you once again, kindest regards Ian and Sarah.

Fabulous stay in bordeaux countryside

We spent a beautiful week at Château La Gontrie with our 2 young children, the house 'le relais' was well equipped and spotlessly clean. The area around the house gardens and pool was perfect for days when we didn't feel like going further afeild. Nola, Jean-Louie and their family were extremely welcoming and we really felt at home during our stay. A car is a must have to stay here as lots of good day trips are within a short distance. The tour of the vinyard and tasting was a real treat and we especially enjoyed the cupboard of wine in the house! I would highly recommend this as a holiday for anyone.

Perfect holiday in Bordeaux

We spend a very nice week in this spacious and well equipped house. We had everything we needed indside and outside, including baby gear (high chair, bed, bath) and very friendly hosts. The area is very nice with lots of things to explore - easy to go to Bordeaux (we recommend eg Mirror d’eau, Cite du Vin and the museum CAPC), St-Emilion, Cadillac (lunch or dinner at L’Entree Jardin), Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, and definitely Dune du Pilat.

A bright, spacious, and welcoming property.

As a family of four we stayed two weeks at Le Relais. It is a lovely bright and clean space, well equipped and comfortable. Our hosts Nola and Jean-Louise couldn’t have been more helpful and generous with information on local things to do. The wine tasting we had with Jean-Louise was very intesting and we enjoyed drinking his wine during our stay! The pool was a great way to cool down and with 3 other families staying in other accommodation at the Château there was the opportunity to socialise as well. Saint Caprais de Bordeaux is a lovely little village and the area quite rural and yet close to Bordeaux. We would certainly return!

Jean-Louis has travelled for 4 years around the world and met his wife Nola (from Australia) when traveling in Melbourne. In 1975 they decided to come back to Bordeaux to help Jean-Louis’s family with the farm at the time. Then in 1984, Jean-Louis decided to create the winery where you can now find 6 different wines (red, dry white, clairet, rosé, sweet white and sparkling wine).

It’s in 1998 that they both decided to start the adventure of receiving guests. First starting with le Magnolia, then renovating 2 houses in 2000 and le Relais in 2010. The main building which is about 400-year-old used to be a coach house where horses were changed over just before going or coming out of Bordeaux. Le Relais used to be the stables.
That’s why you will find a metal horse head on the top of its façade and on the wine label.

Their daughter Andrea (the eldest of their 3 children) who lived in Australia for 6 years came back to work with them since 2008.

It is in this family surrounding that you will be welcomed for your Bordeaux holidays.

Chateau la Gontrie is an ideal base to discover all of the beauties of Bordeaux and its surrounding area in a calm and relaxed country side. Only 20 minutes from Bordeaux, makes it ideal to visit the centre and all of the main wine areas: Saint Emilion (40 minutes drive), Sauternes (30 minutes) or Pessac Léognan (30 minutes)…etc

Being on a family winery you will benefit from the free visit of the vines, winery and of their 5 different Bordeaux wines (Côtes de Bordeaux red, Bordeaux dry white, Bordeaux rosé, Bordeaux clairet, 1ère Côtes de Bordeaux moelleux : sweet white) and their 6th wine which is a sparkling wine. This visit takes around 1hour and half and is in English of course.

Passionate about their region, Jean-Louis, Nola and Andrea will be happy to share with you their local knowledge and their favourite visits.

Living on the property, Jean-Louis and Nola will always be happy to help you out during your holidays if ever you need assistance, or with any questions you would have during your stay. Andrea will also be happy to assist you with setting up your activities: like booking a French patisserie lesson, a surfing lesson in Cap Ferret, a restaurant…etc.

It is an ideal destination to resource yourself surrounded by your family or friends in a spacious sunny holiday house.

Finally, we do believe that having a good bed is 50% of a good holiday that’s why we take a special care on the quality of our mattresses and that our holiday house meets all the needs of modern life such as Wi-Fi, TV, well equipped kitchen etc.
