Superb cosy little cottage (additional heaters were provided) very well situated for Coniston and South lakes. The kitchen was very well equipped and overall we had a very enjoyable comfy stay - even the 1000 piece jigsaw had all the pieces (a damp evening industriously spent!). The only drawback was the hot water tank doesnt hold enough water to really enjoy a bath- but the shower was fine - and car headlights do shine straight into the front bedroom that would benefit from a blackout.

We had a fantastic time at Little Knott, a beautiful 400 year old cottage that was clean, comfortable and well proportioned. There was a very welcome bottle of Prosecco waiting for us and some basic stocks in the cupboard. It is on quite a busy road but the views and neighbouring sheep more than made up for that plus it was easy to get to lots of lovely spots from there. Everything we needed was there. The garden isn’t quite enclosed and our dog is quite big so we needed to keep him on a long lead in the garden, it wasn’t a problem though. There’s some quirks to the layout of the cottage as you would expect from a 17th century cottage such as the washing machine and freezer being in a room accessed from the outside, all part of the fun! We thoroughly enjoyed the space and comfort of the cottage and the beautiful location so close to the lakes and fells. I would definitely recommend Little Knott as a holiday cottage and just be aware of the quirks and enjoy them!

A lot of comments about Little Knott are about cleanliness, lack of a big Smeg fridge freezer and no giant wall mounted flat screen telly. There's no maid, butler or silver service either. But this is a fantastic cottage for walkers who aren't looking for a cream carpet and an atrium. It's a basic cottage with a fantastic big communal room in a beautiful location. I've stayed here ten times over the last decade and I can't wait to get back.

Lovely 17th century cottage
Lovely cottage, great location. Great well stocked kitchen for cooking etc. Lovely bottle of wine on arrival and lots of reviews dating back 30 years! Only downside was the pay as you go meter for electricity. Drains quickly when using electric heaters in rooms In winter. Upstairs is lovely and warm with the open fire but sadly doesn’t heat the bedrooms downstairs. Would definitely return though. A great price.
