Situated within the beautiful North York Moors National Park and midway between Whitby and Scarborough on the Heritage coastline, this cottage offers views over open fields to the sea from the garden and paddock. Prior Dene Cottage is comfortable and cosy, providing a warm welcome at any time of the year. The Cleveland Way passes close by where there are spectacular and atmospheric views; alternatively the old railway line has excellent, safe walking and cycling, and runs from Scarborough to Whitby via Robin Hood’s Bay. Shop 4 miles.

Lovely location with very friendly welcome. Great place in the sunshine but do not know what it would be like at other times of the year. Would have been good to have some basic ‘equipment’ such as salt and pepper, sugar etc Great for dogs.

One of the very best holiday cottages we’ve ever stayed in.

One of the very best holiday cottages we’ve ever stayed in. The cottage is in a beautiful area with stunning views and is so peaceful. Our dog loved the beautiful large garden and so did we. The cottage far exceeded our expectations and was situated in the perfect position for visiting coastal resorts and places of interest and so many great walks in and around Staintondale. The hosts who lived next door are an amazing couple and so lovely and helpful we didn’t know they were there but always on hand if ever there was a problem . We certainly had no problems whatsoever the place was perfect so clean and tastefully decorated just our “cup of tea”. Thank you to Sue and Kev for letting us stay we will be back x

We really enjoyed our stay at this property a couple of weeks ago, even the weather was nice enough

We really enjoyed our stay at this property a couple of weeks ago, even the weather was nice enough for us to sit out and make use of the bbq! The sofa and beds are so comfortable and it was nice to have different thickness pillows. Although the shower wasn't very powerful it was a constant temperature which is always good. One recommendation I would have would be a non-stick frying pan, but other than that there is everything you should need. The garden was huge for our 2 little dogs and they enjoyed running around in it. I just hope they didn't upset the horses with their barking! The cottage itself is attached to the owners home (but no noise), so they are close by should you need anything, and they are lovely people! It was nice to watch Lucy, the daughter, riding her horses everyday. The cottage is in a lovely peaceful area, but close to all amenities. I would definitely recommend this property and we are hoping to visit again in the future. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

prior dene cottage was a lovely place overlooking country side. A more than generous garden for sitting out and the dog. Walks out the front lane ,not a busy road. Owners Sue and Kevin and daughter Lucy with a warm welcome also Fred there dog who was there to greet you when you went out and came back. a cosy well kept cottage a lovely family. We had a lovely stay at this beautiful cottage. Ideally placed for exploring both the coast and inland, with great views of the surrounding countryside and the sea. There was also a large enclosed lawn and garden, ideal for our dog. Warm welcome from the owners on arrival, we hope to return again soon. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Fantastic holiday at Prior Dene Cottage.

Fantastic holiday at Prior Dene Cottage. We arrive a day early (my mistake) thankfully the previous guests had left that day, Sue recommended the Three Jolly Sailor (great food) for an early meal whilst she made ready the cottage. Lovely cottage, everything you need and masses of outdoor space for our two dogs. Very quiet and peaceful just what we needed. Lucy, Sue and Kevin's daughter runs a dog grooming salon on site and was able to fit our black shepherd in for a much needed wash and cut. She looked and smelt amazing when Lucy has finished her groom. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We will be back
