My friend and I very much enjoyed our stay at Pigeonnier du Puy. The well converted pigeon loft and barn sit in a peaceful rural setting with lovely views.
The reception room is spacious and airy with comfortable seating and a large dining table. Most mornings we were able to eat breakfast outside on the terrace. There is WiFi and the TV can receive English channels.
The kitchen is quite small but pretty well equipped.
The main bedroom and it’s en suite bathroom are large and comfortable.
The pool is clear blue with plenty of loungers and pool accessories. As the 2 of us are quite elderly women who speak only basic French we were a bit daunted by the pool cover which is like a roof, has to be pulled across and fixed at the back in bad weather. But we managed it OK and the walk down the hill with the rubbish bin.
We thought the second bedroom, in the pigeon loft, would make a very pretty single bedroom but was very cramped with 2 adult beds in it and, therefore very difficult to get at the small clothes cupboard. 2 children might be happy. The loo and shower are fine. On arrival we were met and shown round by a young woman who has no English at all and couldn’t really explain the equipment so we were very pleased to find appliance notes and general instructions in English.
Nicole, the owner manager was not on site but she speaks fluent english and was quick and helpful over the phone.
All in all we were very happy at the Pigeonnier du Puy. We swam a lot, met old friends in the area that we know well, and drank excellent wine from the nearby Château.
