About the property

Starting in the summer of 2016, The Famous Pecos River Cliff House will be available to travelers. The home has been a private residence for the last 12 years. We are now opening it up to the public and would love to share this hidden treasure with you!

The Cliff House is like nothing you have ever seen before. This custom adobe towers 50 feet over the Pecos River with breathtaking views of the river, dam, and canyon. We also have a 40-foot wide seasonal waterfall just off the back porch that is activated by snowmelt and monsoon rain from the higher mountains.

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the spectacular views from our patio before descending down a redwood staircase to 250 feet of beautiful, private river frontage with a large meadow that is ideal for camping. Fishing, picnicking, and bird watching our just a few of the many activities you and your family can enjoy. End your evening telling stories around the campfire (don't forget the marshmallows!) or simply enjoy the sounds of the river and nature in the canyon.

We have spared no expense in making the Cliff House comfortable, luxurious, and quaint.  The home is a custom Fred Klein adobe with an open floor plan, taking advantage of the breathtaking views out the back bay windows. Most of the home is hypoallergenic, with top of the line mattresses, linens & towels.

We have wifi internet and a ROKU tv filled with tons of free movies on Netflix.  If you have a Hulu account, you can access even more movies.

Even though we have only one bath, the room is very large with an oversized jacuzzi tub and a shower that doubles as a steam room. We have a Mr. Steamer system that will instantly relax you after a long day exploring the surrounding area.

The Pecos River Cliff House is a short 30 minute drive from Santa Fe, with many opportunities for sightseeing nearby in the beautiful National Forest. The entrance is right down the street from our home, where you can drive any direction you want. These roads are more easily traveled with four wheel drive automobiles.

Come and visit The Pecos River Cliff House, “ A Little Taste of Santa Fe on the Pecos River”. You'll never want to leave!

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at The Pecos River Cliff House during a trip for our tenth anniversary. We could not have picked a better place. The view, house, river and grounds around to explore were amazing! The host was very responsive and the house well apportioned. We hope to come back.

Wow! This is a special property.

Beautiful house, wall of windows, breathtaking New Mexico vista of mesas, rocks and river. The scenery is gorgeous and private, the riverfront is huge, the river is wide and deep. More beauty and space – and river! – than we expected, and all to ourselves.

House windows and patio face east, daybreak over the mesa is spectacular. Gate on the patio to steps down to the river, our dogs waited here and beckoned each day. House is an artistic pleasure, supplies and amenities beyond sufficient [three coffeemakers, for example, drip, French press and Keurig]. Well-stocked kitchen for cooking, very comfortable beds and linens. Despite I-25 proximity, all is quiet except for the river – which roars over the spillway, but is muted in the house. Fished but no luck. Robin the owner is solicitous and available should help be needed, but for us not, the “house manual” being so informative, and the house so easy. We and our dogs were in heaven here, and would return in a heartbeat.

Recommended excursions: Pecos National Park [pueblo ruins] in Pecos; the Iron Gate and Holy Ghost wilderness trails north of Pecos [1 to 1.5 hr to trailheads from house, 4-wheel may be necessary last few miles; Holy Ghost trail crisscrosses the creek, thus has water but you’ll get wet]; lacking 4-wheel just drive the canyon north of Pecos. Recommended restaurant: the El Rialto in Las Vegas.

Beautiful Place to stay!

The house and surrounding area is great. Good views and great sounds from the river to wake up to. The arroyo is something to see during the rain.

spectacular and breathtaking

  • 5 of 5

The Pecos house is just stunning! Beautifully crafted in the New Mexico style right into the beautiful landscape. The house meets all needs. The views are spectacular. The amenities are wonderful; a short hike down some rocks to the riverbank where one can rest in the hammock, make a campfire and wander up and down the banks for great fishing. The proprietor anticipated all needs and was superb about communicating during the visit. We can't wait to return.

Beautiful house, amazing views

  • 5 of 5

This is an amazing house.

Very large and beautifully designed. I loved the skylights to name just one thing. When there is sunshine they provide a lot of bright, natural light.

And for those of you (like me) who can't live without a good internet connection: this WiFi is one the best I have ever come across.

Very reliable, very fast.

I can imagine doing lots of things while staying here. Going down to the river or going on trips.

I came for solitude and for looking at nature and that is what I got.

Starting my days with a glorious sunrise, sitting outside just watching the hummingbirds and the squirrels and the lizards, listening to the sound of the river below.

Taking pictures. Feeling the stress leave my soul.

On my second day I was lucky to be able to watch a thunderstorm with a huge downpour of rain and lightning and a double rainbow. I loved the way nature changed colours every few minutes.

Also I was very impressed by the way Robin communicated from the very beginning. Always friendly, always fast to respond. We even exchanged pictures of lizards we had both seen here.

Robin was a perfect host.
