Situadas en la hermosa e histórica montaña protegida por la UNESCO de Sintra, Quinta Sao Bento y Quinta Matalva son villas privadas ubicadas en un valle aislado con bosques de pinos y vistas al mar. Se accede a las Quintas por un camino que conduce a solo 4 Quintas, lo que garantiza el aislamiento y la calma.

Quinta Sao Bento tiene 5 habitaciones y es la antigua propiedad histórica del siglo XVI. Quinta Matalva es una propiedad reconstruida en el siglo XX que tiene tres habitaciones en la casa principal y otras dos en una casa de campo, por lo que es perfecta para una gran reunión familiar intergeneracional.

La casa principal tiene una amplia terraza que es ideal para barbacoas, bebidas y comidas al aire libre. A través de una puerta de esta terraza hay pasos a una piscina privada con otra terraza y tumbonas. Desde la casa principal, camine por una columnata hasta la casa de campo que tiene una cocina separada, sala de estar y terraza con un área de comedor, ideal para cualquier persona del grupo que requiera privacidad, como una familia con niños pequeños o abuelos. Desde toda la propiedad hay magníficas vistas de los jardines botánicos históricos de Monserrate y terrazas de naranjas, limones e higueras.

Wonderful historic property

The stay was fantastic, the views over the surrounding area are incredible and the house served very well for a large group such as ours. We had no trouble finding the property simply using google maps and were greeted by Diogo who showed us the ins and outs of the place. Would highly recommend to anyone seeking a secluded yet strategically placed getaway in the heart of Sintra.

Beautiful stay in Sintra

This villa was so beautiful there was so much history and love in this property. My friends and I stayed it was our first time in Portugal from Canada and we couldn’t say enough good things. Would 100% recommend. Ana and Diego were amazing they made us dinner on two occasions and it was so magical and authentic. Thank you Jonathan for the amazing place we could call home for a few days and for being so responsive.

A new year in a Villa to remember

Family of 15 stayed in two fabulous Quintas. Historical settings, beautiful gardens, a chapel from the past and a staff of two made this stay at the end of 2024 and start to 2025 the best with memories that will last. You could hang out or take day trips to surrounding sites and areas and come home to warm fires and a glass of Portugal wine.

Magical location & property

The location in Sintra and the beauty of the two villas and gorgeous grounds provided our large family of 18 a wonderful vacation! Incredible villa for a large group

The pictures do not do justice to this magnificent property - the gardens, pools, passageways, and orchard are breathtaking. We recently stayed at the villas with a large group of family and friends, ranging in age from 6 months to 40+. We enjoyed visiting the sights of Sintra but the highlight was spending time together at the villa.

Beautiful Quintas in a great location

Sao Bento and Matalva Quintas are spacious, well appointed and light and airy, set in exquisite grounds. Very tranquil. They are not close to shops which is part of their charm. Closest villages - Colares and Sintra are only 10 minutes away by car and can also be walked to. Ana and Diogo are very helpful and friendly.

Dream birthday celebration

Our party of 20 stayed in both Quinta Sao Bento and Quinta Matalva for a 4 day birthday celebration with friends and family. The property surpassed all our expectations: dining alfresco, enjoying the impeccably maintained gardens, drinking in the views and sunsets, walking to the Sintra attractions and soaking up the sheer magic of the place. We didn't want to leave!The rooms were comfortable, with impeccable sheets and towels. Kitchens were well stocked with table and cookware. Pools were a wonderful place to relax after a day of adventures.Ana, the on-site caretaker, was kind and attentive. Scott (the dog) and Pipoca (the cat) visited on occasion and were sweet.Highly recommend.

13 of our closest friends took over both homes on the property for four days. Ana and Diogo took care of us, providng breakfast on two mornings and 2 delicious dinners. We ate all our meals al fresco on the outdoor tables at the main house. Afternoons were spent by the pool. Day trips to the beach, Lisbon, and the sights of Sintra. Don't miss Parque de Montserrat. It's the best garden and palace of them all, in our humble opinion. And interspersed were walks in around the spectacular gardens. We could not have asked for a better experience. Thanks to Jonathan. Country living at the finest

We stayed at this villa with our wedding party of 14. It was a most beautiful experience. There was ample room for everyone to spread out. Gardens were well kept and amazing. There were two lovely pools to choose from. It was too cold for us to use them but still they were wonderful. Ana the grounds keeper was very helpful and friendly. We communicated through Googe translate and she made our stay very comfortable. I highly recommend this place for those looking for country living at the finest.

Perfect!

We took a trip with a few friends and family to get married in Portugal, could not have asked for a better home base for everyone during the trip. The property is spectacular!! Hard to believe a place like this still exists. Our friends and family loved their time there as well, and with the two properties it always felt like you have the space to yourself if you want to be alone, but there are a few areas you could always find people to spend time with as well. The only challenging part is the road in, taking it slow you are good, but for sure suggest something with a higher ride height than a sedan as there are some big bumps you might bottom out on. We were able to get a shuttle we booked to come down to the property to get us, it was just a bit of an adventure. Ana was fantastic, we loved seeing her everyday. Hands down the most special place I have ever stayed, would love to come back in the future!

Unlike anything you have experienced before

Down a gravel road, hidden 5 minutes away from the tourists of sintra. The place is so much more than the pictures. The view, the garden, the interior, everything about the property is breathtaking. The property managers Ana and Diogo were available for any type of questions and our stay couldn’t have been more pleasant. The view from the patio faces west and gives that incredible red sunset. We were 20 people In total taking turns cooking and the patio would easily fit everyone for dinner time. Our guests were equally amazed. In a society of TikTok, instagram or other touristic pollution, this property is one of the few that has succeeded to preserve it’s authenticity.

A Slice of Paradise in Sintra!

History, luxury, and true nourishment for body and soul…From the moment we entered the green door entry way, we had our own slice of paradise. Although we were there to celebrate my 50th birthday, my wife and 6 other couples that joined us ALL experienced such an unforgettable stay at Quinta Sao Bento and Quinta Matalva! From the breezes rustling the trees to the cool tiles under our feet to the modern fixtures flowing instant hot water, this property offered centuries of charm with high-level comfort. What a grand gift to meditate in the chapel and look out into the green valley! Anna and Diogo set such a beautiful table with feasts fresh from the garden and sea; in between we watched the sun set behind Monserate Palace…splashed between the two sparkling pools…wandered the paths walled in by hydrangeas and birds of paradise…when can we come back?

Breathtaking!!

Quinta Sao Bento and Matalva are pure magic! We had the most amazing week of celebrations with friends and family for my milestone birthday and this place was perfect!! It’s hard to even describe it… lush green and colorful flowers everywhere! Fruit trees, stone paths, secret hideaways, glistening pools, views, views, views!! The sprawling property gave our group of 18 space to spread out when we needed and communal gathering spots to enjoy each other and celebrate! Ana and Diogo took great care of us and made me the most amazing birthday feast! That meal and the memories we made together will be remembered forever!! Jonathan, our host, was easy to communicate with and so accommodating!! I had planned this adventure for a year and he was so helpful with all of my questions and requests! He connected me with our tour guide for the week, Sofia, who we fell in love with!! Her knowledge and care was exactly what we wanted for our first trip to Portugal! We are definitely coming back!! See you again Sintra! We are in love! Thank you thank you!!

Paradise in the mountains

The property is absolutely amazing. The 3 buildings (original main house, old church, and newer house) all are elevated and look over the garden rising on the the side of the hill. In the distance you can see the Atlantic Ocean the most amazing sunsets and you can see Monserrate Palace perched on the mountain. The houses are stunning and the gardens well kept. The property is phenomenal and what we were looking at didn’t feel real when we arrived. Diogo and Ana (the property manager and caretaker) are 2 of the nicest people in the entire world. They went out of their way to make everything just that little bit extra elevated. We had one catered dinner that we ordered with them while we were there and Ana had made a homemade lemon gelato, not to mention she built the most beautiful table centerpiece right in front of us with flowers straight from the garden. She always wanted to help and offered to do laundry, clean the rooms and anything she could to make us more comfortable. Diogo was super responsive and even helped us save a trip into town by grabbing some groceries while he was on his way to the villa one evening. This property is stunning and the people there are amazing. 100% worth booking!

Unvergesslich schöne Zeit

Das Anwesen ist sogar noch eindrucksvoller, als in den Inseraten. Es war alles einwandfrei sauber und mit wunderschönen frischen Blumen geschmückt. Ana ist super lieb und man kann sehr gut über Apps mit ihr sprechen. Außerhalb der vereinbarten Zeiten zum putzen nimmt man sie kaum wahr, wir hatten viel Privatsphäre. Diogo hat uns mit allem geholfen, was wir brauchten und war sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich und herzlich! Tipp: Bucht ein Dinner, ich habe selten in so schöner Athmosphäre so gut gegessen :) Vielen Dank für alles und bis bald!
