50th Birthday Get-a-way
We gathered together from Thursday to Sunday for my 50th Birthday. The home was the perfect fit for our group and activities. The location was in the middle of all our fun and was roomy enough to spread out and rest between adventures. We would recommend this home to all our family and friends.

Great Property!!!
Our group of friends have stayed here 8 times over the past 10 years and always had an amazing experience. There is so much room you can have people watching tv, playing billiards, playing board games, doing a puzzle, reading, and just sitting around talking all at the same time in their own area not disturbing anyone else. The kitchen is stocked with utensils for just about any typical cooking need. There is a grocery store right across the street (closed Sundays) which is very convenient. The check in at the Carlisle Inn is fast and easy and only a couple minutes drive from the property. The hosts could not have been better to work with, super friendly and very responsive. There is plenty to do in the area including stuff in Berlin, Millersburg, Sugarcreek, and Dover. Most places are closed on Sunday but we found some that are open. There are also places to hike, or play disc golf not far away. The hosts have been very helpful suggesting things to do. We always go in January and have often experienced winter weather. They have a company clear and salt the drive so we have never had any issues getting in or out. If there is enough snow, the massive hill is super fun for sledding. When the weather is warmer there is outdoor sports equipment available for use. I could go on forever about the things we love and do at Miller Manor, you should definitely stay here and then make plans to come back!!

The perfect home for relaxation.
The home was perfect for our family gathering. Six adults and five teenagers had a relaxing long weekend. We did not want for anything in the well appointed home. As each person walked into the home they exclaimed “WOW”! The lovely sunroom was a favorite meeting area as was all the activities on the lower level. We appreciated the beautiful locally crafted wood cabinetry throughout the home. I look forward to another visit to this home. Thank you for sharing this home and for the opportunity to call it home for a short stay.

Family Vacation
This is the third time our family has stayed at the Miller Manor. We enjoy using the large kitchen for cooking meals for everyone and the beautiful sunroom for coffee and breakfast in the mornings. The large living room and huge basement are also wonderful parts of this house. The bedrooms are all very spacious and comfortable. We love sitting out in front of the house and watching the farming and the slower pace of life is just what we all need to recharge!

Rest and Renew
Our women's Bible Study stayed at MIller Manor for 3 nights selected to coincide with a showing of "Ruth" at Ohio Star Theater since we have been studying the book of Ruth. It was a blessing to be able to do this. Miller Manor is a beautiful, well appointed, spacious, exceptionally clean and comfortable home away from home. We had everything we needed. There were so many areas where we could come together and also areas where we could go for quiet time. The setting was spectacular. Sitting around the fire pit and watching the sunset was inspirational. The ease of booking, checking in and checking out made facilitating this trip very easy. Appreciated very much the direct contact i had with the family members. Hoping to come back with our family to enjoy the Manor and all it has to offer and the location.

Golden Anniversary
Miller Manor is absolutely beautiful! We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with our children & most of our grandchildren. There was something for everyone to do. We enjoyed shopping in Berlin, visiting cheese places, eating too much food and attending the Amish Country Theater. We treated all to a meal at Der Dutchman. The hosts are so accommodating. And the view is awesome!

Another Great Weekend
Our group of 19 friends have stayed at Miller Manor for an annual weekend away since 2016. We love that there is so much space to play games or eat a meal all together as well as room to spread out and do things in smaller groups. There is plenty of shops, wineries, restaurants, museums, and other things to do in the area. The owners are committed to keeping the property maintained and we notice updates every time we go. This year there were new mattresses on the pullout sofas. Owner Jodi and Manager Kathy communicated everything we needed to know well in advance of our trip. Specific to this year, the weather turned to snow and slush right before we arrived. The driveway was starting to get pretty slippery but Kathy contacted the snow removal company who was there to salt in under 30 minutes, clearing the way for the rest of the group to arrive safely. When we checked in we were informed that accommodations had already been made in advance to provide us with whatever we needed in case the winter storm got too bad. As it turned out we only had to deal with the cold and we had another great weekend at Miller Manor.

About the host

Hosted by The Miller Family

Host profile image
Doc Dan and Mary began their lifelong commitment to Amish Country in 1967 when Daniel Miller accepted a call to come back and open a doctor's office in Walnut Creek. Raising four children and being the only physician for miles meant that life wasn't exactly relaxing for the Miller family. But a caring community and a peaceful setting helped. Building their first house "back in the woods" just below the Manor where their son and family still live, the Miller children could camp and play endlessly in the woods and creek. The children grew...and soon a tennis court with basketball hoops was added to keep the high school kids busy. But motorbikes and other fun things aside, Cindy, Bart, Eric and Heidi all remember a childhood both of fun AND work, like mending fences, mowing, hours of music lessons and other daily chores. By 1991, all of the children had moved from home with families of their own. Becoming involved with the Walnut Creek Der Dutchman restaurant and working with the company only deepened Dan and Mary's sense of gratitude and commitment to the area's business community, church, the Amish community and visitors who come to enjoy such a unique area. After selling some of the successful family businesses that were started by Mary's parents, the "house on the hill", now known as Miller Manor, was built in 1999, fulfilling a dream to live a still-busy retirement in the sunshine and breezes, to wake up everyday to a beautiful view, and to host family and friends when they all come home. Daniel and Mary were given an opportunity to relocate to Walnut Hills Retirement Community in 2015, where they continue to reside today. They continue to walk over 3 miles each morning and are active still in family businesses, church and the community. The decision was made by the family in 2015 to maintain the property as a vacation rental, in order to share the wonderful location and setting with others for family gatherings and more.

Why they chose this property

Have we mentioned the views? They are spectacular. But just as important are the reasons behind the decision to make this property a vacation rental available to guests. There are no better memories in the Miller family than 10 grandchildren gathering together to play in Grandpa and Grandma's house. Sardines, shield dodgeball, winkum, hide and seek, tag, scavenger hunts, Baby Monkey and many other activities involving candy or running or hiding were the norm. Family music concerts, singing hymns, and Christmas dinner in the dining room were holiday traditions. Our family has made countless wonderful memories gathering together at Miller Manor. We hope that others may also experience family and friends in a peaceful setting that fosters growth and joy in relationships.

What makes this property unique

The peaceful setting of Miller Manor is remarkable. From the lovely bedrooms and large common areas inside the home where children and adults can relax and enjoy to the firepit in the front courtyard with a never ending view of rolling hills and frequent crimson sunsets, this is where you'll want to spend your time! It will be difficult to pull yourself away, however, there are many activities and ways to be entertained in the neighboring towns of Walnut Creek, Berlin, Sugarcreek and beyond. This is an area full of delights for all ages. Having a "home base" like Miller Manor will be a treat for all looking to get away from routine and the hustle and bustle of daily life. One of the owners shares a driveway with the Manor and is within view of the property. The owners are always happy to give recommendations of area attractions and restaurant suggestions. Birdwatching has become popular and the property adjacent to the Manor hosts over 25 different types of birds. Miller Manor was recently featured in the book "100 Things to do in Ohio's Amish Country Before You Die" by Brandy Gleason.
