Family-friendly fun, on and off campus
UQ is a particularly family-friendly campus. Explore the scenic lakes by foot or by bike, stop for a coffee in the campus cafe, or head to the free art museum. Great Court, UQ's main building, is the heart of the campus, and a popular spot for events. Take in a theater production or a game, and relive your own college days with a beer or 2 from the balcony of a St. Lucia vacation rental. Once you've had enough of the good old days, head over to St. Lucia Golf Links, one of Brisbane's oldest golf courses.
A peninsula packed with plenty to see
Thanks to Queensland's pleasant year-round weather, don't be surprised if much of your time is spent outside. There are plenty of parks and gardens, perfect for everyone from picnicking families to students popping out on a quick break from class. A variety of city tour groups operate in the area, including walking and segway tours. The proximity of downtown Brisbane means easy access to tons of museums and performances, as well as shopping and nightlife. A ferry operates along the Brisbane River, serving as an efficient and peaceful way to hop off the peninsula and explore.
Perfectly pleasant, just like the locals
Expect ideal temperatures in St. Lucia all year long, thanks to its subtropical climate. Winters (around June) are warm and mild, and temps rarely fall below 65, while summers really only heat up into the 80s. But while the mercury stays relatively even, don't expect constant sunshine. November through March is rainy season, with a passing thunderstorm happening with some regularity. When packing for your St. Lucia vacation rental, don't forget your brolly (umbrella), as the locals say! You just might need it out there.
