A peace rural setting for rejuvenating or as a jumping off place to exploration.
This cabin is a great location as a home base for many adventures and interesting sites. Located 1/2-hour from all the attractions in Amish Country, and the same to Canton and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, First Ladies Museum, McKinley Museum, great restaurants, etc. Atwood Lake East Marina is 0.8 miles from the cabin, with boat and pontoon rentals. In winter, cross-country skiers can go back-and-forth on about 12 acres of open land, or if you are a hiker, there are 43 acres with a open paths, plus another 40-acres of public wooded land that abuts my property.
Live theater is available within a 90-minute drive in Cleveland and Pgh., as well as professional sports there.
Those wishing to do none of the above, to just decompress for a few days or a week will find this ideal. Very peaceful, scenic, bucolic setting. You truly can do as much or as little as you want. Picture yourself sitting on the deck, glass of wine in hand, watching a beautiful Carroll County sunset, or watching the flames dance over the outdoor fire pit, which will be lit and waiting for your arrival. I hope you'll give it your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you.
ALL are welcome, and I DO mean ALL.

About Jan H. Kennedy
Arts and sports fan. Now retired, I have worked as a factory worker, advertising agent, professional singer/songwriter, Fortune 500 company house organ editor and convention coordinator and newspaper reporter and columnist. I enjoy watching most sports, golfing and bowling, museums and art fairs and, especially, travel. Laid back, easy-going - that would be me. Oh, I'm single, for what it's worth. I'll always be available, but like a good umpire, you won't even notice me. Just respect my property and we'll get along great. My place is close to Beautiful Atwood Lake. You’ll love my place because of the serenity of the rolling hills country, hiking trails over the 43 acres of land, the verdant lushness of spring and the glorious colors of fall. 30 minutes to the art and craft stores in Amish country, or the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the First Ladies Museum and fine restaurants in the Canton and Belden Village area. Pontoon and ski-boat rentals at the Atwood East Marina is a mile from the cabin. Live theater and professional sports teams in Cleveland and Pittsburgh are 90 minutes away. Cabin has heat and air conditioning for your comfort year around. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
Why Jan H. Kennedy chose Carroll County
Those who have visited here so far say it is such a peaceful setting. One even said walking to hiking trails through the woods was "magical." You even may find a fairy circle for good luck.
What makes this Cabin unique
You definitely will leave here refreshed and regenerized.

Perfect "Get away from it all" property
Though our trip was short, it was so very relaxing. Jan's property is beautiful & the quaint simplicity of the cabin fits it perfectly. It would be the ideal "writer's retreat!" This part of Ohio is so very gorgeous & calming. We enjoyed the Amish area in Sugarcreek, but honestly, some of the best moments were on this property, walking together with the dog in the woods. Loved seeing the sap collection apparatus for maple syrup! I'd never seen that in person before. Jan is a very friendly & gracious host. It was nice to have him meet us at the cabin when we arrived & give us the once over of the cabin. If you need to step away from the day-to-day craziness of life, this is a perfect place to do so! Thank you for having us, Jan!
Quiet and Lots of Woods to Explore
Jan met us when we go there and everything was just fine. Thanks for getting grill out for me in the middle of winter! There are many miles of hiking on trails and through the woods on the property and on adjacent public land. Very quiet. Would recommend if you might be looking for an affordable get away in the woods.
The Perfect Getaway
My wife and I had the opportunity to spend a few nights here, including New Year's Eve. This was the perfect cabin for us and had everything we needed to get away from it all for a few days. It is very peaceful with the cabin sitting far back from a quiet road and against the woods. We even lucked out and had snow on the ground just like the picture. Jan was an excellent host, showing us everything we needed to know about the cabin and local information. He even left us some treats and a bottle of bubbly to ring in the new year.
This property is very close to Atwood Lake and we hope to return in the summer to take advantage of the water and some summer activities.
So happy you enjoyed my cabin. Hope to see you again in the summer.
Great little cabin for a relaxing weekend getaway
My girlfriend and I wanted to do something for our 3 year anniversary, so we decided to get away for the weekend. We found Jan's cabin and we decided to book it because it looked like a nice place in the pictures, it was less than an hour away from home, and the price was more than reasonable. When I contacted Jan, he responded very promptly and answered all of my questions thoroughly. He also allowed us to bring our dog with us which we really appreciated. Due to a prior engagement, we were not able to arrive until after 10pm on a Friday, and Jan was there and had everything ready for us. He took a few minutes to show us the cabin and to answer questions we had. He also said that since we arrived so late on Friday, we could stay as long as we'd like on Sunday. In addition to being so accommodating with the check in/check out and with our dog, Jan also left us a box of chocolates and a half gallon of eggnog (even though neither of us care for eggnog, it was still much appreciated!). We spent some time walking the trails on Saturday with our dog which we really enjoyed. Then later in the afternoon we went and ate at J-Pa's, and then visited the Al-Bi Winery, both of which are right next to Atwood lake, and both of which we would recommend. Overall, it was a very nice, relaxing weekend. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. In fact, my girlfriend has already been looking at possible dates that we could book it in the future!
It is so rewarding when guests come in and take full advantage of my property and other local destinations. To read a review like this is humbling, indeed. It's a real kick when people so fully enjoy their time here. Definitely look forward to seeing them again.
A Piece of Heaven
This cabin and its owner are very special. We had the pleasure of renting it for 3 months this Fall. I cannot begin to share how truly lovely it is. The property is beautiful, with a large front yard, and the woods tucked at the back of the cabin. Jan, the owner, always keeps it pristine, and even has two walking trails that meander up the ridge, opening to a lovely field of grass at the top. The foliage, sunsets and the fauna were beautiful. Morning coffee on the deck, wine at sunset, and smores at the fire pit were our norm. Our only regret is that my husbands work contract expired before the first winter snow! We will definitely be back.
I am so humbled that words fail me. Thanks, James and Jackie. It was a pleasure hosting you.
Beautiful property and peaceful! Thanks Jan
Brian and Kim took full advantage of the fire pit and outside grill. They also had family come down from the Cleveland area to enjoy the property with them. (Somehow they slept 4 adults and three kids in that little cabin with no lives lost.) Already indicated they would be back at the same time next year for Labor Day and the Great Trail Festival. Really nice folks.
Great location for many destination spots that fan out in 360-degrees. Many with 30 minutes drive. Pretty much something for every taste.
