Bright and cute house, very responsive owner, on a great waterfront lot. Small porch, but great fire pit area. Neighbors house is extremely close, so not very private. Parking limited to two vehicles. Beds comfortable and spacious kitchen, great bar seating but there is no dining table other than a two seater. Might consider including bath soap, cleaning oven and making upstairs balcony accessible if you advertise it.
Overall, the house was very cute, spacious, comfortable and clean. The fire pit was a highlight in the evenings and the private dock was nice to relax with a book during the day.
The house was comfy and had everything you could possibly need for a long weekend. It was close enough to Tyler to catch a show and had some quaint eateries in the area. Loved Pandora's Box...what a fun find. I can't wait to return for a longer stay. The only problem we had was finding it the first time, but as soon as we put in the neighbors address we went straight to it!
Excellent place to stay
Open floor plan, great lighting, porch to view the lake and plenty of space.
If you love high thread count sheets with comfy pillows and bed, you have found your getaway. Bathrooms are new and everything was very clean.
Stayed here from out of state to spend time with family who live nearby. We spent most of our time inside the house talking and reminiscing. There was enough space so we weren't crowded. TV was great also.
We left our pup at home but the neighbor's dogs provided us with just enough of the unconditional love only a pet can bring, they are gentle and sweet!
Private road makes it a perfect place for a quiet and relaxing time.
Wonderful place to stay!!
The house is beautiful and comfortable and was well-suited to our needs. We had 10 people at once inside on several occassions as nearby family came by to visit. We had plenty of room to visit, play games, and eat. The parking was a little tricky at times with 5 cars in the drive (and the gate shut), but we managed it. For most renters, though, I imagine the parking is more than adequate. What with local family coming by, we were probably the exception to the rule here.
The property itself is beautiful and would be ideal for lots of outdoor activities; however, it was too rainy for that during our stay. We did enjoy the boat dock, but take note: Lake Palestine is down several feet, and the water depth at the end of the dock is only about 6 to 8 inches right now (September 2018). So if you're planning a big fishing vacation while staying at this house, here are some tips: 1) Check the lake level before you come, and if it's over 4 feet down, realize you may not be able to fish from the dock too well. 2) Come prepared to fish from a kayak (we brought ours, but kayaks are also provided). 3) Conversely, bring your boat and launch it. 4) Or bring rods and reels that can be cast a long way. 5) Another option might be to do some wade fishing since the ground seemed to slope gradually out a ways.
We caught lots of fish, mainly catfish, but some perch, bass, and one bowfin, so the fishing was great.
This is a lovely, comfortable place to stay and, Hollie, the owner, is the best. She was very helpful and prompt to answer all of my many questions!
Beautiful setting, relaxing, easy access
The owner was very responsive to all questions. Such a relaxing time was had with our family. We fished right off the dock and my son caught his first catfish (5yrs old). We met the sweetest neighbor dogs who hung around and made quick friends with the kiddo they even swam with us in the lake. The owners have made this home very cozy and had everything to get away for a weekend or a longer trip. We went to the Texas Fisheries hatchery/Center where kids can also fish in Athens. The highlight of our trip was outside of Tyler the Tiger creek wildcat refuge center where we got to see everything from a Jaguar to an 11 week old baby white lion. Will be back and thank you so much for this tucked away peaceful and quiet home for our getaway and memories made.
We had a great time at this lake house. The yard is great and the beach entrance was nice. The house is cute but could use some upgrades. The balcony door on the upstairs bedroom does not open. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
