'Anchors Away' at Fort Morgan - Premier Unit, Great Location

Loved it. Laid back. Close enough to several beaches and activities. Would stay again.

Downside, extremely difficult to reach property manager, had to contact VRBO for check in instructions. Also, were told to call an hour prior to 4 PM arrival to ensure property was clean. Fortunately, unit was ready. Do bring indoor recreation in case of rain, no games or movies on site and satellite goes down quickly.

We would definitely stay at Anchors Away again!

Our unit had a great bay view of the small bay beach and boat docks. The ocean was a short walk across the street. Our grandchildren enjoyed fishing, searching for different types of crabs, hiking, swimming, dolphin sightings, and we even viewed an alligator in the side lagoon near the bay shore. Be prepared to bring or purchase Kleenex, paper towels, hand & bath soap, toliet paper, dishwasher detergent, dish detergent, laundry detergent and spices other than salt. Our past experiences with VRBO and Airbnb rentals have been that many of these items were provided. Important to not rely on Sassy Bass Market, only Ft. Morgan market, for these supplies; options are limitted and expensive. Best to stop at Walmart in Gulf Shores before driving into Ft. Morgan. Loved that Ft. Morgan beach is not crowded. Be cautious with undertow. Note to owner: crack in microwave casing needs to be repaired and old, bent wire hangers need to be replaced.

My husband, daughter, and I had a wonderful time here. It was relaxing watching the waves off the bay from the balacony. My husband enjoyed being able to fish at the bay. My daughter and I walked to the beach. The walk there is not stressful at all. We have stayed in Gulf Shores across the street, and I hated crossing the street. Not the case here. You may want to bring a wagon if you plan on taking a lot of beach items with you. It felt like we had the beach to ourselves since it is way less crowded. It does take about 25 minutes to get to the main strip of restaurants, so we would just go for dinner. We ate breakfast at the condo and ate at closer places for lunch. Back to the condo, the beds and furniture were comfortable. It is very pretty and beachy, which added to the relaxing atmosphere. The plastic of the microwave door is broken, but it did not interfere with how it works. So not a problem for me. The bathtub drain stopper on the whirlpool tub did close while draining, so of you have small kids just keep an eye while it drains to make sure it drains all the way. It could have been the pressure of the water that closed it while draining or it could have been me not doing it correctly. The swimming pool is nice, and it wasn't too crowded at all. If you want a place to truly relax and be away from the crowds, this is for you!
