About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

'Anchors Away' is a great Condominium at Navy Cove Harbor located directly on Mobile Bay on Fort Morgan Peninsula. You dock your boat in slip #20, a dedicated 20 feet by 40 feet boat slip (with power) right next to the condo. This is only one of four premium units which sit directly on the bay with two balconies. The sunsets are spectacular!

Other amenities include pool, hot tub, fish cleaning station, barbecue grills, and a gazebo. Public beach access is a very short walk across the street. From the balconies you can watch ships coming in and out of Mobile Bay or schools of dolphin and other fish swim at your feet. Just steps away is a sandy beach (bayside) to walk, sail or kayak next to Bon Secure Wildlife Refuge. Even if you do not own a boat this is a great place to vacation and relax. The views and sounds of the bay are really special.

'Anchors Away' is a beautifully decorated, two bedroom, two bath Condominium with all of the upgraded features. The living area and guest bedroom have separate balconies over the water. The Condominium features include tile floors, granite countertops, and nine foot ceilings. Beds include a King, two TWINS, and deluxe queen sleeper sofa.

The new Gulf Shores Yacht Club is located next door and provides many additional amenities for the boating family. Dock store, dockside fuel, on-site charter and rental service, and full restaurant and bar.

About Cindy Gordon

Charles and Cindy Gordon

Cindy Gordon purchased this condo in 2003

Why Cindy Gordon chose Alabama

Navy Cove is a great location for the boater. On the bay and only a short distance to the ocean. The best of both worlds.

What makes this condo unique

We just updated all the beds, the main TV, the TV in the Master bed room and in the twin bed room. Also a new central ac unit, new carpet, and new paint. We changed the lighting in the kitchen area to recessed type lighting.

Convenient Fishing/Boating - Responsive Manager - Aging Condo

  • 4 of 5

Navy Cove condo complex is the best location and facilities for boating and fishing in Fort Morgan, in my opinion. You can be in the Gulf in 5 to 10 minutes by boat, and you're right in Mobile Bay (Bon Secour Bay technically) where there are gas platforms, reefs, etc for fishing and plenty of open water for boating. There is a sheltered marina with boat slips allocated to each condo. Some even have lifts which is really nice...#1107 does not have a lift, but the slip is right below the balcony so you can keep an eye on your boat. I left fishing gear in my boat and things out in the open around my truck overnight during my week's stay and had no problem with anything missing so it feels very safe around there.

Anchors Away (#1107) is a very nice condo though starting to show it's age. It has most all of the amenities and stocked items that you will need, but we did experience a failed appliance (Washer/Dryer) during our stay. Jody the leasing manager had a new one installed the next day, so some inconvenience for us (see below re: wet towels) but we are very satisfied with the response from her! A couple of other items that we noted regarding this particular condo were:

- The view from the main balcony is restricted by the large palm trees that are directly in front of it. (The guest bedroom's balcony view is actually better than the main balcony's!) There are birds that hang out in the palms as well, which is kind of cool, but noisy and if you are paranoid of birds flying into your living area, better keep the balcony door closed at all times.

- The master tub funnels water into the bathroom floor during showers. We had to put towel(s) in the corners of the tub to keep from having a slippery lake when stepping out of the shower. That was a bit of a nuisance and kept us a little short on dry towels especially when the Dryer went out.

- Due to the above the mat stayed wet, which is very annoying in bare feet. (Jody agreed to address this situation, by the way, so again we love her responsiveness and communication, but not that part of the stay.)

- No bar soap for showering; only hand soap. Bring your own!

All in all this is a nice condo with an excellent leasing manager (Jody Varden) and it's in a great location for fishing, boating and sunset/sunrise/water views!

Great Escape Very Isolated

  • 3 of 5

Fort Morgan is on the very west end of Gulf Shores, AL. Both my wife and I went to college in the area and spent many days on the beach at Gulf Shores when it was untouched and probably the most beautiful beach in America. That has all changed much for the worse. The natural gas rigs have ruined Mobile Bay and the Gulf Coast of Alabama. The politicians and the oil companies have ruined this once beautiful area. Twenty five story condos on the beach have destroyed what was once paradise needless to say if there was any property zoning board for the area they took their stupid pills. It is a shame what has been done to the area---what a mess, How they could let this happen is a shame but I am sure it was done for money. The Navy Cove complex needs work as does the actual condo unit. It is comfortable but need upgrading. You are isolated in Fort Morgan from restaurants and shopping---Gulf Shores shopping is close to twenty miles away. We enjoyed our stay but were very disappointed in what has happened to the area.

Fabulous condo!!

  • 5 of 5

My family was looking for a pet friendly vacation area and this was perfect! The condo is delightfully decorated and stocked with everything you could possibly need. The furniture and beds were very comfortable. We used the complex grill area 3 times during our stay. The view is beautiful with the 2 balconies and we enjoyed spotting dolphins in the bay. The little beach is the greatest place for a walk with the dogs. We liked the short walk to the big beach that was also pet friendly. The biggest disappointment was the pool being too cold to consider using. (I noticed other reviews mentioned the same thing. Condo owners might want to add a pool heater in the future). We did use the hot tub and that was so relaxing! My family would love to stay at this condo again in the future!

We had a wonderful Winter in this beautiful condo. We caught many speckled trout from the piers which made for great dinners. We made many friends from all around the country who stayed at the surrounding condos for the Winter like us. The locals are very friendly, also. We enjoyed walking on the clean, white beach across the street. The pool was a little too cool for us, but the hot tub was just right & relaxing. Jodi, in the management company, was very nice & helpful, too. We hope to come back for many Winters in the future.

Bring a Boat

  • 5 of 5

It was a beautiful unit with gorgeous views of the bay. The two balconies overlooked the docks. The beach is also gorgeous and about a 2 block walk across the street. Shopping is about 20 to 30 minutes away. Lots of different types of restaurants in Gulf Shores. Pensacola is about an hour away if you want to go see the Blue Angels. However, while we were there, we got a few free shows while relaxing by one of the pools. Hot tub wad excellent, but the pool was a bit frigid because of its location and lack of sun exposure. I would assume it stays cleaner during the busier part of the summer. Lots of bugs and enormous dragon flies in September. Not to mention the painful dog flies this time of year. Overall, a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

Great condo!

  • 5 of 5

First off the carts are brilliant, we got everything up to and from the condo in one trip. Elevator is also a bonus. We had been staying in Gulf Shores for years but it's gotten so popular and busy we decided to try Navy Cove/Fort Morgan area. We loved It! The condo is decorated cheerfully nautical and it's was roomy and clean. It had everything we needed (except linens for the couch bed). We loved the balconies and spent a lot of time in them. The pool and jacuzzi were nice as well and never overcrowded. The grill area is clean and close to tables. We loved the cove beach and even had a family scavenger hunt on it. The beach is close and we walked to it everyday. We had breakfast buffet at the Sassy Bass down the road and it was delicious. All in all we had a great time there and plan to book next year. Jody is great as well! You'll love it!
