17,000 Square Feet of Luxury Space. Smithfield Canyon Home Has It All.

We present Rivendell: An accessible Gathering Place which is located in Smithfield Canyon (yet close to Logan - 6 miles away). You can see a video at youtube searching Rivendell and Logan at https://youtu.be/Rhq1g1FOf-A. This house was built to impress and support large groups. With an elevator, wide halls and roll in showers, families of all abilities can gather in one of several large areas which makes the home not crowded even with large groups of people. Dinner seating is available for large groups with china and silverware included. The elevator stops on five floors including coming out of a tree and continuing up to an indoor treehouse at the top floor. Fifty foot swimming pool, sauna and hot tub for large groups, large gym with basketball or volleyball and a real stage for a family gathering/performance or a corporate presentation.

The kitchen comes with double Wolf ovens with a griddle and SubZero fridge and freezer. But if that is not enough there are two more full kitchens in the home with two more full fridges, full freezer and two fridge drawers. Four dishwashers in the home help make clean up a snap. The kitchen work area was designed for lots of cooks helping and not getting in each other's way. There is also an oversized outdoor grill next to the outdoor fireplace.

The large home includes almost two acres along a creek and fire pit with chairs for large groups. The grounds around the home give you nature with lawn space to relax outdoors. In the summer lounge by the pool as the pool doors open to let the outdoors inside. The pool is secure from small children with access only with an access code and then a key to open the cover.

There are four washers and four dryers when you need to get a lot of clothes washed.

New Sony Projection system lets you watch one of our hundreds of DVDs on the 170 inch screen.

The main house has 9 bedrooms with sleeping for 62 people scattered through the home. There are also seven bathrooms.

If your group needs more space you can check out VRBO #340210 which is also located on the property. If you rent both houses on the property, then there is a total of ten acres. Take a stroll along the paths and you most likely will encounter deer as you cross the bridge over the creek. This lodge sleeps 10 more people with its own 110 inch projection movie screen and has 80 five star reviews. This lodge is blocked out to reserve it as an option for you to use for an extra $240 a night. Contact the owner if you are interested in both properties.

Perfect Reunion home

We had almost 50 people staying in this home and it was wonderful. We felt like we had enough space for everyone and with the pool, gym, and other facilities we were able to host our family reunion staying onsite for all activities.

Large Family reunion gathering 35 participants. Mostly teenagers- a few children. The most accommodating venue we have ever used. The Best Family Reunion in 30 Years

It's hard to find a location space for 76 family members from 5 different states to get together, but Rivendell proved the case for doing so. We coordinated a family reunion and pooled together the money to spend a week and had some of the best days of our lives. Rivendell was able to host us as we managed to fit Barbeque, a Full 18 rounds of Golf at the Country Club 10 minutes away, many Pool & Sauna parties, Human sized Hamster Ball Battles in the Gym, and a Board Game Tournament into a week we will all cherish forever. Tom and his team run a tight ship, and his constant communication and able staff helped us have a great week and work through any issues that arose. Our family highly recommends the venue.

Rivendell, what’s not to love!

This is an absolute must for making family memories to last forever! The owner is amazing and super helpful, if you ever have a question he responds within minutes. The home is beyond beautiful and extremely well-kept, they have thought of everything! There are multiple activities for making fun memories whether you are 1 or 100! The home is extremely family-friendly and there are multiple large gathering areas to accommodate. Pictures cannot do this place justice, it is a must see and do! We were blessed to make so many great Christmas family memories here. As we loaded our grandchildren in the car To leave one of them looked up and said “I want to live here with mama and papa forever!” Thank you for sharing such a special home with us!

Amazing property. We didn't need to leave the property to keep all 10 adults and 15 grandchildren fully entertained. Well equipped and nicely maintained. The indoor pool was the focus of our activities. Just a couple of suggestions: 1. The weather was very warm the week that we were there and the upstairs bedrooms were uncomfortably warm in the late afternoon and evening making sleeping a challenge. 2. The sink water in the kitchen never heated up sufficient to hand wash pots/pans. Tepid water temperatures didn't allow for us to clean up as we wanted.

Smithfield Canyon Home

This is our second year to spend our Christmas/New Years time as a family together. We have a large family and this home provides my grandchildren with lots of fun stuff to hang out and do. The swimming pool, hot tub, and basketball court is absolutely the best part of this home. We are still getting children out of the pool when it is time to vacate the home, they love it so much!!! Having indoor basketball games or indoor soccer games brings your family together in a very special way. Soaking in the hot tub, watching the grandchildren on the water slide, playing pool tournaments, using the stage for talent shows, all of this is available when your family spends their special time together. The home is very clean, the owner is always available, supplies are always filled and extra available, washer and dryer on all three levels, great area to eat and seat everyone, and plenty of places for family gatherings. My children and grandchildren asked us if we could please come to this home again in one year. When they love spending time with us our hearts are full and this home provides a place for love to abound. Thank you so very much for sharing your home with us!!!

Second Family Reunion

This was our second time to enjoy your beautiful home and property. It was a little like going home when the grandchildren came to once again enjoy their time together. They raced to the tree house and to pick out their bedroom. The one they used last time. 😀 The kids enjoyed the trampoline while we sat and enjoyed putting our feet in the creek. Wonderful!! The barbecue pit area was great for our s’mores and songs. The little cottage worked perfectly for our newly married. Early mornings found little ones enjoying their airplane ride. The pool was super fun for all. We had a glow stick party in the gym. It will be a favorite memory. Gathering in the large living room our patriarch shared knowledge of the universe and beauties in the heavens. On our first day there my husband Michael fell in the shower. It was a scare for sure. He broke 5 ribs, two of them in two places. He had a punctured lung and had to have neuro thorax surgery. Was in the hospital for three days. Your home was designed so we could take good care of him. Water fountain and easy access to the sink. Our family cared for him so well. He was on oxygen and was able to take his walks in many places in the home. A couple of things for future renters. The left oven doesn’t heat properly. Takes forever to heat up and doesn’t get as hot as it should. The freezer in the kitchen didn’t freeze properly when it was full. The ice kept melting and then freezing again. We would have felt more comfortable with finding the key to the sliding door to the pool. We made certain our littles obeyed our rules. There was a faint odor of cigarettes smoke in all our clothes. Wondered where that came from. We love your property. Thanks for the beautiful spot to bring our very large family. Great for large gatherings

We had a large extended family reunion for about 70 people for three nights. This home was able to accommodate everyone comfortably. There are a variety of things to keep everyone entertained inside and outside the home and on the property. I'd recommend this property to anyone who needs to host a large gathering.

We had a truly glorious stay at this incredible home.

Our family reunion at this gorgeous home was so perfect. There were 38 of us. We used both the main house and the bunkhouse, and we were glad we did it that way. I think we used every single feature of the property, except maybe not the outdoor basketball hoop at the bunkhouse since the kids had all the access they wanted to the indoor basketball hoop in the gym. And they used that a lot! Oh, and we only used the big screen in the lower level by the pool for our planned activities using that. Otherwise no one felt any need to waste time looking at the other screens! There is so much to do on this property that we really kept well entertained and engaged with one another in both the activities we planned and the open time for just enjoying each other here and there or relaxing and reading. It really isn't possible to truly describe all that this property has to offer plus the great quality of everything. Come and enjoy!!

An amazing experience for start to finish!

When we were on the lookout for a property that could be the ideal setting for our large family reunion, we came across this wonderful home...While we had some initial doubts, we were put completely at ease by Tom - who patiently answered all our questions and went out of his way to truly make our stay as comfortable as possible. We were a large group - 48 of us - and we were able to create some wonderful memories here. The house is perfect for all generations! The treehouse, pool, basketball court and soccer field were a hit with the kids. We held a family olympics, talent show (stage gave us the ideal setting), dance night, and some other events. The house is perfect in every way possible - enough to do for all, privacy when needed, and plenty of common areas to gather and bond. Per Tom's recommendation, we catered our food from Culinary Concepts (yum!). for breakfast and a formal banquet. While not required by Tom, we found it worthwhile getting Blue Brush Cleaners to come every day and clean the kitchen and the bathrooms. Plenty of hikes in the region - do the windcaves! Also, look up in the night - the sky is simply amazing.... Tom is a perfect host...he has built a wonderful home that is ideal to create some lifelong memories. Every guest in our party, across 3 generations, had nothing but wonderful things to say about the home and our renunion. Thank you, Tom!

Our Favorite Reunion House By Far!

We've stayed in a number of large houses over the years - but this one wins hands down. There were so many things about it that made it perfect - the gym, stage, pool, firepit area, gaga ball pit, movie room, and indoor treehouse kept everyone happy and entertained. No Place Like it! The Perfect Stay.

For a large group, this was perfect. Beds for everyone. So often large places are not built as homes. This is a home that has spaces that bring groups together. With 17,000 square feet, each space is carefully thought out. There are several large areas for groups to gather but also intimate spaces to meet. The outdoor space was fantastic. Beautiful. By getting both houses, you gain a great kid's play area and a large soccer field, plus more sleeping areas. We have stayed at several large reunion places, and this by far was the best ever. It brought our family closer. We will be back!

Awesome place for Reunion!

The Rivendell place was the perfect spot for our family reunion! Everyone from our group loved it. From the moment we checked in to the time we left, everything was a smooth transition. Tom was available when we had questions or needed assistance. I would highly recommend this place to have your reunions at or if you need a quick get a way trip for big groups. There’s enough room and space to fit everyone!

Fantastic location

We reached out to Tom last minute to rent for a group of 70 sorority women. We had a cancellation of our original rental & were looking for a last minute location. Tom was so accommodating. The day the rental started, Tom met one of the collegiate women at the house & walked them through everything you would need to know for using the house. They never stopped raving about how fabulous the house was & what an amazing space we had found to accommodate them. The women said “Amazing experience at this house. Owner met with us and toured the house and showed us how to use the facilities, super friendly. We brought a large group of girls that were all able to have comfortable accommodations, would love to visit again! ”

Fantastic property!

We had our family reunion here. There were 54 of us - 34 adults and 20 kids. Most all of us had private sleeping spaces. The property is well designed with great amenities throughout. The pool, indoor tree house and the gym/theater made this a fantastic destination. Since we were there to connect with relatives and not necessarily to sight see, there wasn't anything we lacked to keep the kids entertained right on the property. Tom was available by text for any questions. I highly recommend this property and the owner's management of the property!

Perfect for our family reuion

This was an excellent venue for my group of 14 adults and 13 children (age 8 and younger) to enjoy a family reunion. We were content to spend nearly our entire five days at the house, as there were plenty of activities to entertain us there. The craftsmanship that went into constructing this house is extraordinary, and the house and grounds are in very good repair. When we arrived, the AC was not working. I texted Tom about it, and within a few hours he had a repairman fixing it. Tom was always very responsive and helpful.

The house was clean, so much space for everyone to spread out. From the pool to the inside treehouse, to the trampoline by the river there was so much to keep the kids busy. Everything you could want for a family reunion house!

We loved our stay at Rivendell. We had 44 people and there was more than enough space for everyone. We loved the pool, the gym, the game room, the stage, the outside area...so much to do and such a beautiful setting. The sound system throughout the house was an added bonus! You could play music in every room even the pool. The Lord of the Rings theme made it all that much more fun for us as our family are huge Lord of the Rings fans. Great house and management. Highly recommend!!

Our family of six built this home to have a place to play and a place that all our kid's friends would want to come as we wanted to host the party. With our daughter in a wheelchair, we made accommodations to give wheelchair access to every part of the home. If you have elderly or disabled guests then this house is accomadating.

We love to travel but have always found that with the home we built "There is no place like home." We go camping and realize camping by the creek on our land is the best spot there is. We go to a community pool and realize that our indoor heated pool is more ideal. It doesn't get any better than driving 15 min to go skiing and coming home to sit in the sauna.

Why they chose this property

This home was built for our family with the knowledge that "if you build it, they will come." We hosted many family gatherings of 50-70 people and the home passed the test in every way. The layout is such that large groups can gather in one place, or have one of many locations for smaller or more intimate settings. Located in Smithfield Canyon, along Summit Creek, we have ten acres that create our own secluded oasis. But we are still just a mile from main street and only 6 miles from Logan. Surrounded by hundreds of trees, you can take a walk on the paths and down the rock steps to the creek for some quiet solitude.

What makes this property unique

If your group wants more space, then we offer our Canyon Lodge. It is on the property accessed by a bridge, sleeps 10 and comes with a deluxe playground. You can check it out by searching for VRBO 340210. If you would like that property also, then contact us and we will take that reservation separately at a cost of $200 a night. We have blocked every night on that home to make it available if the guests in our main house want to reserve it.

The indoor swimming pool is a place to cool down in the summer and a place to warm up in the winter.
